The version I heard was of a scorpion who struck the dog who agreed to carry it across the river on his back. Both of them died in that tale.

A person who is a snake or scorpion can change, but don't marry one thinking you will change him. Plan your actions based on what he is right now, a scorpion... but don't assume a person can never change.
Well said, dear sir!

I've kinda noticed that too. People who lie are always paranoid that others are lying to them. People who cheat are paranoid that others might cheat on them. People who gossip are paranoid that others are gossiping about them. We always assume that everyone else is just like us. People who wouldn't ever consider doing it would also never consider someone else doing it to them. Unless they learn the hard way of course. But yeah... it seems to be the trend.
Well if you're in a relationship with someone who was lying to you or cheating on you the whole time, it's only natural you're going to have insecurities and be jealous when the new person is out and about around with other members of the opposite sex. Does it make it right? No. But is it natural and understandable? Absolutely. That's why it takes both parties to fully communicate about what the other likes and dislikes at the beginning of the relationship.

How do women feel about jealousy in a relationship? My last relationship ended because of jealousy, but what draws the line? I don't want to be in a relationship where the girl that I love is going on dates with other men and flirting with other men, but I also don't won't to be an authority figure to my girlfriend/ future spouse. Any thoughts?
I dated a guy who every time i talked to another guy he would get like crazy about it. He'd immediately assume i was interested in whoever i was talking to. And what he was perceiving wasn't true.
Jealousy is probably one of the most unattractive qualities. And having said that, Are you sure this girl is flirting and dating other guys or are you just thinking she is??

On the other hand though. I wouldn't like it if someone simply didn't care what i was doing or who i was talking to.

So your own preference, would you want your guy to have a problem with you talking to other guys? Where is the line between simply not caring to being jealous and saying something?

It's interesting how in this forum, jealousy is only about other people in the relationship.

My husband and I have been totally committed to each other for 34 years. Neither of us has ever cheated, or wanted to.

However, when my husband got on a 2 year obsessive project with his Mazda626 I was very jealous that he spent more time on that wreck than on me!

My husband gets jealous of me talking to people on the internet, even if I am sitting right next to him, and he sees who I am posting to. He thinks the internet is to look for new broken down cars to fix, not to talk to strangers. LOL

I was wondering the same thing, but didn't want to start anything... Maybe this should be taken to the "Unwritten Rules" thread, to give us guys a clue where the line should be drawn. =^.^=

As they say, we as men are clueless to this stuff. Better take out a pen and notebook and start taking notes on what to do/say and not to do/say...

I have dated only one really jealous girl in all my life. She also gave me the biggest nightmare of my life.
It also turned out. She was everything that she was jealous about.

Funny about girls/women being jealous of a guys hobby's. I have been accused of liking my dirt bikes more then a few times. I think my last girlfriend accused me of liking my boat more then her. When there is 15k worth of upgraded engine and transmission to install. It does kind of need to get done. lol

*PERK*

Is it a first gen! I want a first gen 626 coupe so bad! I want to restore it, drop in a 13B (or maybe a 12A), install a limited slip and upgrade the suspension and chassis!

And then strip the paint down to the steel panels and clear coat them so it sort of looks like a Delorean.

(I'm a huge Mazda nerd. Your husband and I would be besties.)

Jealous means "demanding of unique affection". God is a jealous god. He made us in his image. God's covenant of marriage commands unique affection between the man and woman.

If you are not willing to be an authority in your household to be a keeper, protector, and guardian... you should consider remaining single.

Isaiah 5:20 Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that count darkness as light, and light as darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!21 Woe unto them that are wise in their own eyes, and prudent in their own sight!

I don't think you should be extreme on either end- not too clingy and not too passive. If they want to know where you are every second of the day there has to be trust issues, and if that is the case you shouldn't be with them or marry them if you can't trust them. On the other hand, if i'm like at a wedding and some girl is dancing with my man and hanging all over him, and obviously flirting, I'm going to speak up.

Possibly because the OP was about jealousy due to the other person actions towards others. Such as going on dates with other men.

Oh hey I saw one of the brand new miatas on the road the other day! It looks amazing. I didn't realize it was that much bigger than the previous models, and it looks really hot too.

My own preference... no, i wouldn't want him to have a problem with me talking to other guys. However, if i was talking to or spending a lot of time with guys other than the one i was dating, then he'd have a reason to be jealous.

I think the line would be different for different people. If a person had been cheated on previously, then their line would be different than one who hadn't been cheated on.

I am jealous of anyone in Switzerland. Have you tried the chocolate there? You just can't get it over here in the USA. I know, I've looked.

I know right!! Their chocolates will make you go ohhhh-la-la......
