What of the dinosaurs?

It's an interesting debate but don't get caught up in it. I think our priorities should be winning souls to Christ and not so much trying to prove who's right and wrong about the age of the earth.

It was realising theres another story to science like the age of the earth, how dinosaurs fit in to the big picture etc. that made me question what I believed.

According to God He made dinosaurs at one point . read ( Job ) : if you take the behemoth , to be one.
And the description of it hints in that direction.
It has a long tail, as long as a cedar tree. That fits a dinosaur like the one they recently found in Argentina .

The dates well, then that would mean the earth is older. Which is okay with me; since the Bible does not bother with a date for the age of the earth itself. Anyone can read Genesis 1:1 and see there's no date given.

Only way you can fit a date in that, is if its forced into the scriptures. So, enjoy the dinosaur ,God created it. .( Not evolution ).

The bible doesn't say how old the earth is. Genesis 1:1 says "In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth," It doesn't say when the beginning was, and note that verse one ends with a comma, not a period.

Genesis 1:2 "And the earth was void without form, and void" "Was" is the wrong English word here. The Massorah renders it "hayah" (Strong's Concordance ref #1961). Hayah means; "to become or came to pass". So verse 2 should read that "The earth becamevoid and without form". So millions or billions of years could have passed between verses 1 and 2 of Genesis.

The reason people think the Bible should be talking about dinosaurs is because they think the Bible talks about the origins of planet earth and outer space and so forth and then all the way to the present and beyond. They did not listen to the Bible which tells them that it is written as a parable (Psalm 78:2), so they read the Bible as a surface text, looking for things like dinosaurs. Jesus tells us in Mark 4 that all these things (Bible things) are done in parables, and without a parable spake he not unto them (Mark 4:34). People who are without (unsaved) read the Bible but it is a parable which they do not understand (Mark 4:11-12). The way to interpret the Bible is to compare scripture with scripture (spiritual words with spiritual words) (1 Corinthians 2:13). Consider Genesis' "In the beginning" time. Did you know that the tribulation period spoken of in Jeremiah 4 is the time when the earth is without form and void: "I beheld the earth, and, lo, it waswithoutform, and void; and the heavens, and they had no light."(Jeremiah 4:23) Even if you find a dinosaur (possibly in Job 40:17) or any other animal in the surface text of the Bible it does not mean that the message being conveyed is the surface text message. Most animals in the Bible are merely pictures of people. Are there birds in the mountains? (that's really people in Christ). Is there an ox treading grain? (That's someone sharing the word with believers). Is there a goat or a sheep being slain? (Christ the sacrifice)

I would tell anyone asking about why dinosaurs are not more frequent in the Bible, or why the Bible says the earth was made in a few short days, to consider that the Bible is written in parable form and the surface text must be interpreted to get at the true meaning. It may not be saying that planet earth is so young after all. The Bible is really trying to convey God's salvation plan, and not how old the planet is.

If we knew for factual evidence, that would make us doubters, God loves believers, Why do we have smiley jeffery dohmers, why do we have heros, that will save us from burning buildings? (Firemen) good example...how are people not seeing a child laugh, or malicious intent on the public in general ..what most at top call (human resource) where's the humanity? ... Jesus did a lot of miracles... I'm one of them, walked on water, fed multitudes with one loaf, turned water to wine, raised the dead, healed the blind, none of this is explainable... The Bible never lies.. Hold it up for the pinnacle of morality, good and bad, knowing the difference... Did these monkeys know the difference? When did they then? Why don't I see atheist monkeys? Here is something I have never been able to figure out. Dinosaur fossils have been found for a very long time and according to todays science they are thousands possibly millions of years old. But I don't get it, the bible doesn't speak of T rex's attacking ppl. When exactly did they roam the earth? because God created the earth in seven days on the sixth day created man okay so did the dinosaurs go around eating mankind from the very creation of the world then one day were wiped out?

If I was in a debate with an athiest trying to get him to accept God and he brought this up I would be clueless

Blain, the Bible as we know it does not describe every incident of man being killed by an animal unless it was relevant to God’s word. Take Jonah for instance, he was swallowed by a fish. We accept it is a whale because at the current age of the earth a whale will suit the bill, but 4 000 years ago there could have been other fish that was just as big.

I am not a big fan of books that was left out of the Bible but an interesting book to read is The Book of Jasher. In this book the process of selecting the animals by Noah is described and it explains to us that there were certain animals left from the ark for a specific reason. Read it, don’t read it but at least it helped me to kept my sanity The other point to consider is that animals were killed and extinct by humans. You have the dodo that was recently extinct, the rhino that has a very real threat of being extinct ect. If you look at cave painting in France and Australia you will see Rhinos on the walls but I am not sure when last they saw a wild rhino in those parts. Maybe our local atheist friend Percepi will tell you millions of years ago but I seriously doubt it

I am in conversation (almost daily) with atheists and the one thing that I can promise you is that they do not care about your evidence (or lack thereof). The Christian and atheist journey is one that will always fascinate me because in the one we accept a higher Deity creating us and in the other one we are the higher deity evolving by chance.

I take the bible literally word for word and I believe the world is many millions of years old. I believe there was an actual Adam and Eve but there were dinosours before people that were extinct before Adam and Eve. This doesn't contradict the bible because the original audience of genesis were people that had a very limited concept of time and the term day was just meant to be a fixed point in time.

Ah well the thing with Leviathan is it is unclear whether or not Leviathan is a dinosaur proper or not considerring it is a type of massive sea creature. Is certainly possible, but it is also possible it could be something different all together as the oceans still hold many mysterious creatures. Only about 5% of the oceans have been explored even in this time era.

And I would say, do get caught up in it, as our origin is part of the gospel. The story of origins in the bad news, and tells us why Christ had to die. If we tell our kids Genesis it's not important, we're in essence taking the foundation of the Cross right out of the Bible.

Paul often contrasted Adam with Christ, and if millions of years of death and suffering preceded Adam then death did not enter the world through Adam. Death was already here and God called it very good after the sixth day.

The creation account is the foundation of all theology. God created all land animals on the 6th day along with man. They were to eat plants and there was no death (Gen. 1:29-30).

Creationists are doing a wonderful job proclaiming the truth of Genesis, and we need to talk about this often. I believe this is the single greatest cause for the deterioration of the church.

If millions of years of death and suffering and cancer and cannibalism existed before Adam, that means God called cancer and suffering and cannibalism and death "very good." For that's how He described his creation after the sixth day was completed.

Yet Genesis says that originally animals were not designed to cannibalize one another, nor even eat one another. They were to eat plant based diets (Gen. 1:29-30).

It's also interesting that at the end of the age, they will return to this vegetarian diet, according to Isaiah.

When we disregard Genesis, all theology becomes obscure and difficult to understand. We can't ignore the foundation of the Bible.

5. Facts can be twisted to whatever your faith is. So if you believe God's Word, then cavemen are not really cavemen, etc.
6. God's Word is trust worthy and gives us accurate Science and History;
(Why doubt it's account about the age of the Earth and dinosaurs?)

I was brainwashed throughout my education years, and so are many today. Science has been declared off limits to God, the One who caused the basis of all science. I repented. And that was before the many evidences against evolution these days. Satan has infected too many bright minds such that his victims must compromise the plain truth of God.

Jesus and the apostles supported the Genesis account literally, citing it as basis for much of Christian doctrine. If you play around in that long enough, you will lose the basis of your salvation. You will be found arguing with Jesus our Christ. I will trust Jesus and His apostles more than the brightest modern mind. Children of the Dewvil are on a mission to harvest souls for Hell.

Research the claims of scoffers yourself. Look at the ICR evidence of yet organic remains of blood components in dinosaur bones. It is unimanageable that over millions of years any organic compound, or any residue in the bone marrow, could contain characteristics of organic material! It must long ago have been replaced with mineral substances. But that didn't happen. The academic rules prevented slicing up dinosaur bones because of their rarity, In these days of ours some researchers with fine reputation and ability dare to defy the rules of academia, as set by Satan himself. Look at the evidence for yourself. Know that TRUTH is offered by God in nature, and in His word recorded long ago.

Beware of the "CHRISTIAN BAITERS". They seek to capture your soul. Believe the word of God literally until that Word expressly indicates there is some analogy involved. The Genesis account of creation doesn't indicate analogies. Any analogies exist in the minds of confused humans at odds with God, in favor of human science, AKA "Humanism".
