What is it about money that people get so obsessed with over it?You see it daily, people buying lottery tickets and want to win all of the money on the big ticket winner, they just get so obsessed over winning all this money, and think that money solves all the problems, and that money is always the answer, what are your thoughts on this?

Power, if people got money, they have power. to look down on people who don't have money. it buys them diamonds, gold expensive cars, houses boats and live an expensive life, The love of money is more important that trust in God.

That's very true,I agree with you there, and they think that money makes the world go round.

The two 'trusts' are nearly antithetical. Trusting God or Mammon

"No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money.
(Mat 6:24)

People think money is security. And they think if they just had money all their problems would go away. Neither of these things is true. People with money worry about losing it. All of their problems and hangups are still with them because they won't face them and deal with them. And, having money creates new problems to deal with.

A spiritually mature believer who takes responsibility can both have money and not be possessed by it. His priority is always the spiritual life and his relationship with God. Money becomes something he is the steward of in his walk with God.

In spite of myself, the less money I have, the greater rejoicing and reliance on Christ I have. Now I have none, and I never imagined how total my relationship is with Jesus. For I have nothing else. For the first time, Jesus is my everything.

[h=1]Proverbs 10:22King James Version (KJV)[/h]22 The blessing of the Lord, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it.

[h=1]Psalm 113 King James Version (KJV)[/h]113 Praise ye the Lord. Praise, O ye servants of the Lord, praise the name of the Lord.
2 Blessed be the name of the Lord from this time forth and for evermore.
3 From the rising of the sun unto the going down of the same the Lord's name is to be praised.
4 The Lord is high above all nations, and his glory above the heavens.
5 Who is like unto the Lord our God, who dwelleth on high,
6 Who humbleth himself to behold the things that are in heaven, and in the earth!
7 He raiseth up the poor out of the dust, and lifteth the needy out of the dunghill;
8 That he may set him with princes, even with the princes of his people.
9 He maketh the barren woman to keep house, and to be a joyful mother of children. Praise ye the Lord.

dont you like money ?

A few verses on this:

Proverbs 15:16 Better is a little with the fear of the Lord than great treasure and turmoil with it.

Proverbs 11:28 He who trusts in his riches will fall, but the righteous will flourish like the green leaf.

Proverbs 16:8 Better is a little with righteousness than great income with injustice.

Proverbs 30:8 Keep deception and lies far from me, give me neither poverty nor riches; feed me with the food that is my portion

I'd rather be poor and happy, instead of filthy rich and miserable. :)

Meeting in the middle of these two options would not be a problem to me, God does want us to prosper and be happy, but he does not want any of one thing to take his place as number one in our lives.

Money gets things, people want things so people want money so they can get things. People can want things for status, the more you have the more you are worth, for covetous, a fear of lack and a distrust in God. People can think the more money they have the better their life will be because they will never lack. There's a myriad of reasons, I myself to at times catch myself out thinking how things will be financially, having a young family and so on but then I try and change those thoughts to remembering how God has always provided in the past when we couldn't see a way out and that He takes care of us. He wouldn't give us children and not provide the means to look after them, a bad father does that but God is a good Father.

Ecclesiastes 10:19King James Version (KJV)

19 A feast is made for laughter, and wine maketh merry: but money answereth all things.
