But nobody protests the sinful cases either. And certainly no one tries to campaign to make sinful remarriage illegal, like they do homosexual marriage. She is just saying that you shouldn't judge homosexuals, the same way you would say you shouldn't judge anyone else who sins. No reason to get mad at her for that, when I hear christians say all the time you shouldn't judge. Why does it suddenly become sick when it's homosexuals you shouldn't judge?

Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment. John 7:24 There is a difference between discernment and condemnation. The Bible uses one word "judge" for both meanings. We should NEVER make excuses by turning a blind eye to the truth. Proper relationships concerning this stuff exemplifies the bride of Christ in the Christian community. By supporting gay relationships while continuing a proclamation of our belief in Christ is not only hypocrisy but is the worst kind of defamation of character against our Lord as a witness to the world.

Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain. Exodus 20:7

I do not agree with divorce except for where the Bible allows it,if there is abuse or a partner is being unfaithful. But that is not the same as homosexuality. It is called a perversion in the Bible and is clearly different than other sin.The Bible says you are sinning against your own body...Flee from sexual immorality. Every other sin a person commits is outside the body, but the sexually immoral person sins against his own body. (1 Corinthians 6:18)
Marriage between a man and a woman is Gods foundation for the family. It is sacred.Homosexuality will never be in line with that or be in Gods will. In Romans...For this reason God gave them up to dishonorable passions. For their women exchanged natural relations for those that are contrary to nature; [SUP]27[/SUP] and the men likewise gave up natural relations with women and were consumed with passion for one another, men committing shameless acts with men and receiving in themselves the due penalty for their error.
Divorcing and remarrying is also sexually immoral. In exactly the same category as homosexuality. It is sinning against your own body

The gay movement is a culture to tear down traditional {God created} marriage and therefore the family which is the foundation of society. That is why homosexuality is different from other sins.Gods plan was for a man and woman to marry and he made no exception to that.It is a sin to hate someone who is gay but Christians are not to support that lifestyle.
That is just absolutely not true. Gay couples have absolutely no interest or agenda to tear down traditional marriage. They just want the opportunity to have the same thing everyone else has. And since this is in no way a theocracy, or even a christian nation, there is absolutely no justification for making such a thing illegal. You don't have to support homosexuality as a sin, or marry homosexuals in your church. Homosexuals marrying does not impact heterosexual marriage at all. And it doesn't negatively impact family in any way either.

Why would one see Dolly Parton as a sterling example of Christianity in the first place? (Rhetorical question, not aimed at you.)

No I wouldnt see her as a sterling example but she promotes herself as such.Dollywood brags on its family atmosphere and has a resident gospel group at the park. For her to fly in the face of Christians saying they are judging gays is unbelievable. She makes good money from Christian support, more than gay support I'd wager. We'll see if anything changes in the Christian community toward her.

I think to drink in excess is sinning......people aren't ashamed to go into a bar or place to eat and fill up on alcohol......obesity is a sin......being overweight.....gluttony.......and we make special provisions for the obese.......all I wanna say, is be careful how you treat others with their sin be it in the open or not.........God's greatest commandment was for us to LOVE one another......we all need to do that more than condem others to hell. God help the folks, who so harshly speak of the horrible sins of others, when their own child , that they would give their life for.......comes in and says they are gay.

What prompted her to make these comments to begin with? -- Just curious.

Like Ugly said in an above post...

For many people the issue of homosexual marriage has become so big because its continually shoved down our throats. The LBGT community expects everyone to hear their opinions and agree with them. Yet as soon as others have their own opinion which differs from their opinion they don't want to hear it.

As has been said a million times.. Its not the sinner that's hated; Its the sin.

Is anyone familiar with the story from September of this year where the lesbian couple damaged a bakery in Oregon for refusing to make a cake for a marriage ceremony? That's not okay. That's shoving the belief down people's throat and trying to make them believe it.

All this is very true, but is calling a sin a sin hate? I understand what you mean, but I feel it would be more hateful to ignore it and not warn them. That being said I am not talking about the "Westboro Baptist church style" at all. That is hate filled and against what I'm talking about. I also agree that we shouldn't just focus on that one sin so much either, or ever turn any sinner away. I agree we should lovingly reach out to all and let God do His work in them. So just to be clear I agree with what you are saying, my only point here was that accepting this as "ok", or trying to make it a not a sin, is not going to help either.

Wise words, these.

I just thank God, that Christ walked among sinners.............everyone seems to be juding the ones that are judging, and well, the circle keeps on going........I understand that there is a difference between accepting people with a specific sin, and supporting their sin.........that's what we as Christians need to learn the difference............yes, homosexuality is an "obvious" sin.......it is out there for you to see........what about all of the sick secret sins in peoples lives......the ones you can not see just right in your face?!! I try so hard not to judge others, because how we judge others is how we will be judged.....His word says so.........people who call out this sin, like it's the "most" worst sin ever.........when someone in your family comes out as a homosexual.........you will learn real qucik, not to judge and condem them to hell.......you will learn to LOVE as Christ loves.....because you may be the only part of Christ they will ever see..................I LOVE my homosexual family member......I pray for them, and in front of them.....I try to show them the love of Christ in all that I do and say.....I don't love the sin......I don't love any sin for that matter..........but I love the sinner...........God loves the sinner.......I am a sinner......A child of God, but I fail Him everyday in some way and pray for His amazing Mercy and Grace to forgive me...........just my opinion.....

I know this subject can become nasty so please,no one see this as an attack.I have to disagree with you.I hear so many people saying judge not and using scripture. To say homosexuality is wrong and perversion is not judging! God has already JUDGED it as wrong! If I say its wrong to murder your neighbor am I judging the murderer?! No it has already been judged as wrong. This ,as I said before, tears apart society and pushes an agenda to accept homosexuality as ok and right when it is not.To say they just want the same as everyone else is totally against what the Bible teaches and what God wants. He made marriage sacred, between a man and a woman for the creation of the family. This cannot be denied that this was his purpose.Homosexuality is against that purpose and an abomination accord to HIM not me! I didn't judge it to be wrong,God did! I'm not condemning anyone to hell, that is far beyond my power.Had I a loved one who was gay I would love them no different than any other but I would have to tell them it is wrong or then their blood is on my hands because I did not tell them the truth, that they are in danger of hell.Do I love them less,no I do not.My Uncle died a terrible alcoholic, did I love him less? No! Did I tell him he was in danger? You bet! I am not a perfect Christian,I fail,I sin but I repent and it's under the blood. But that being said I should not continue in sin.If I continue in sin then I am in danger of hell as any other.

Part of the problem here is the idea that God loves us just as we are. We can turn to Him and be saved just as we are. How'd that work out for Sodom and Gomorrah?

I am not mad.....and I KNOW that homosexuality is wrong and that God is the one that judges ALL sin.....I know this all....I don't care who agrees or disagrees with me......MY own daughter is gay.......she was brought up in church and accepted Christ as her savior......I love her and she knows what is right and wrong, and right now she is in the place of life that she is in, and God knows this......I am just saying....you have no idea until this comes into your own life.....No matter what the sin is.....people will always try to make others see it as ok......no matter what sin it is.......I am old enought to know, and wise enough to study His Word, and know what sin is...I get it....it doesnt have to be pounded in my head.......I know my responsibilites as a christian woman too, and a mother........I have done what God wants me to do as far as my daughter.....and she knows this......everyone that knows me knows this......I love her unconditionally......as Christ loves us......all Ive got left to say on the subject is......the only sin that will send us to hell is the sin of Not accepting Jesus Christ as our savior.........and I will never cease to pray for my daughter.......

Do you suppose that the rest of us live in a vacuum? Do you suppose that we have never had SERIOUS problems (trials) come into our lives that don't have an easy button? The point is, we still have to remain convicted and strong for the Knowledge of the Truth.

Drinking to excess is sinning,in fact I don't believe a Christian should drink at all! No one knows if they are an alcoholic until their first drink. Its wrong according to the Bible. But that is not the same as homosexuality.Again marriage is sacred and is the foundation of society.God created man and woman to be together in marriage.God calls in perversion and an abomination. It is wrong to hate someone who is gay but not wrong to show them they are in error. I dont condemn others to hell,in fact neither does God! Our sins condemn us to hell.If my loved ones house was on fire should I tell them they are at risk of death? Or should I be afraid I'm just condemning them to die if I mention the flames? No!! You would lovingly tell someone they were in error. The same should be done in the case of homosexuality. You say God help the folks who speak so harshly of others sins...well you are judging there.Yes there are wing nuts in the faith that do that but I dont see most churches doing that in the way they teach about homosexuality. And trust me,in 20yrs of traveling Ive been in a lot of churches!! I hear pastors saying love the sinner but not the sin.My father is an evangelist and one night he was preaching on homosexuality.A young man after the concert came up to him and said he had been dealing with homosexual tendencies and that what my father had said had helped to understand it was wrong and he needed to repent. My father could have said "I shouldnt judge" and the young man would have gone on still in error.Love the sinner and not the sin.

The old hymns says "just as I am".But I believe wrong teaching has made this a doctrine of the church.Yes we come to him just as we are and he loves and accepts us,but we dont stay as we are! There is the difference!

see, I could come on here and say I went out last night, got drunk, chased women, etc... most every Christian would say sin. I could say i'm gay, and probably 40% of the same people would say well, you know, etc.. massive difference over clear sin.

Amen sister, I've been changed by the Spirit you're referring to, and I will testify that "you change". I really don't think (if dealing 1 on 1) that their sexual orientation even needs to come up unless they ask specifically. We should focus on teaching them the gospel and sharing our testimonies to get them thinking, and let God do His work in them because we are very limited in what we can do for someone else's salvation. Just speak the truth and let God work. That's the best I can do, and what the bible tells "me" I am called to do.

I totally understand that this subject is near to your heart.I'm not trying to pound anything into you nor question you as a mother or Christian.Clearly you love your daughter.I have no children but I have nephews so dear to me I would give my life for them without hesitation, But if I saw them doing something that would harm them, something that would send them to hell I would have to tell them.It would not change my feelings or love for them one iota. But I would have to disagree with what you say about sin,all sins separates us from God and therefore sends us to hell.We can believe in Jesus all we want but if we continue in sin we will go to hell.I don't say that as a perfect Christian by any means.I need stuff weeded out in my life.that is why we are to pray for one another and uplift each other.Homosexuality is a strong delusion and a trap.We need to also pray for loved ones that are not saved that they would find the path again.

One of the very first scriptures I ever learned...

Act 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

Repent, change, stop sinning.

But nobody protests the sinful cases either. And certainly no one tries to campaign to make sinful remarriage illegal, like they do homosexual marriage. Adultery is wrong whether if it's protested or not. The issue with Parton is her telling others they should not judge while she is judging others herself.....she is guilty of the very thing that she accuses others. Yet there is nothing wrong with judging adulterers and homosexuals, Jn 7:24.
