Looks kinda like the dorsal fin I've seen on some tropical fish.

Well, after a few short forays into the family forum and seeing the terrible advice and condemnation of the absent spouse that was given, I have decided that should I ever get married and have marriage problems I'll be coming back to my single's forum friends to get decent advice about them. The rest of the internet makes you guys look downright normal (no insult intended).
You may be onto something here, cinder. :) Maybe the singles of this forum are too normal to find a mate on this crazy planet....or maybe getting married pushes folks over the line. :)

I don't know how it happened, but suddenly I found myself reading poetry. And it's not that I dislike poetry, but that after reading dozens of poems about different things, my brain is swirling around and around and my eyes are swimming and I think maybe I actually dislike poetry.

At any rate, I know I don't like Robert Frost, yet for the first time ever, I like this poem. Except, I don't really like it, it's more that it struck me as meaning something. For once. Ugh.

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;
Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,
And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.
I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I-
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.
I know this one by heart! I got a book of Robert Frosts poetry when i was like 13. I've been hooked ever since. I loved this one so much i committed it to memory.

Lewis Carroll has some really crazy poetry. I have a book of his stuff to. He's the guy that wrote Alice in Wonderland. Anyway, lot's of his stuff doesn't even make sense. He just makes up words, but it's amazing!
It's my second favorite poem! It has been set to music, so now it's playing in my head. :)

My very favorite is this one:
[h=1]She Walks in Beauty[/h]By Lord Byron (George Gordon) 1788–1824
She walks in beauty, like the night
Of cloudless climes and starry skies;
And all that’s best of dark and bright
Meet in her aspect and her eyes;
Thus mellowed to that tender light
Which heaven to gaudy day denies.

One shade the more, one ray the less,
Had half impaired the nameless grace
Which waves in every raven tress,
Or softly lightens o’er her face;
Where thoughts serenely sweet express,
How pure, how dear their dwelling-place.

And on that cheek, and o’er that brow,
So soft, so calm, yet eloquent,
The smiles that win, the tints that glow,
But tell of days in goodness spent,
A mind at peace with all below,
A heart whose love is innocent!

Oh man. I am excited. Finally, two days off in a row where I don't have to work nor run across town to my drs. I can stay home, sleep in and lounge. My room is a mess.

I sit here and wonder how and why it can be so hard to receive grace...without doing anything, just empty hands with nothing to give. I know in the depths of my heart that grace has set me free, why do I still struggle with trying to work my way to God? *sigh*

Why are you trying to work your way to God when God has already met you with grace?

Because for the first 24 years of my life, I was trying to earn His favor. I fall into old thinking patterns, old habits etc. It's a struggle, but I know that I will overcome these bad habits of trying to impress God.

For many people, grace can be a hard thing to grasp since we're not use to it much in our world. It can be quite a foreign concept. Most often in this world, you have to work, prove yourself worthy, impress- like you said. It's just a testament to the Love of God and His character. As well as what separates is from other religions of the world, none have the concept of grace. I hope that God will settle your heart and conscience to accept His gift, and to help you from falling into old habits of works.

I don't know if anything I said is a bit relevant or helpful. I used to be better at this God talk stuff and had good things to say. I don't feel like I can offer as much anymore. But I do hope that you find what you need.

I awoke today to something to which I am unaccustomed. I was cold. That hasn't happened in a long time.

Winter is a-coming! :D

No matter how hard we try, there is nothing we can do that will impress God or even just be worthy of His honor..

All of us have become like one who is unclean, and all our righteous acts are like filthy rags
(Isaiah 64:6 NIV)

The only thing that makes us worthy of God's grace is the sacrifice that Christ made on the cross..

We have been made holy through the sacrifice of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.
(Hebrews 10:10 NIV)

Look what I found in a dumpster this morning! IN THE TRASH!

I hope I can get it running - it looks like it sprays water and runs on it's own with the remote and everything. Well, it's not really a remote -it's a little wired handheld, but still. All I can find missing right now is one of the little plastic outriggers, but kids don't take the time to play with those anyway. i know a little buddy that's going to be blown away at Christmas if I can get this thing going!

I started a thread in the Family Forum...about how depressing the Family Forum is.

I kinda think it will get ignored, or else have a handful of responses that basically say "no idea how to change it".

I'm not really ok with that, but I also don't know myself how to change it or even sort of improve it. People love to dispense advice, and they love reading about other people's hardships, so here we have a ready-made place for people to get their fix...*sigh*
