Re: Gnaw on this...

Only YOU mentioned anything about the NIV....doofus...

Rotflol....!

Dead Wrong.

The KJV version was rendered from the obsolete Textus Receptus.

Ok you got me. JK, what do you think is a good Bible version.

Its perfectly logical according to scripture.

You're seriously confused.

For some strange reason you think that only The Father is God. Wrong.

For some strange reason you think that The Son is The Spirit. Wrong.

Scripture NEVER states that each is the other....but, instead, provides legions of verses showing that they are NOT each other.

Study up...
O wow you got it right Jesus is separate from the Father and the Holy Spirit, and the Father is separate from the Holy Spirit.

Well hello!
All you Christians out there I want YOUR opinion!

I have studied this doctrine defined as the Trinity, and I tend to see a lot of issues with it. So I am just curious is someone that actually knows anything about it. (Not what you have always been taught, But what you have Studied) Would give me a brief but intellectual standpoint on it, in hopes of a discussion. What is the Trinity in your own words? And from a biblical point of view Why do you believe it?
Im not trinitarian!

One day I will remember where I wrote about it (My blogs?)

Re: Jacked...

What a stretch!!!

Where does The Almighty tell us to get out our calculators in order to decipher His word?

Most certainly NOT in your far fetched jacked-up reasoning for the 24 elders!

The only place is in the calculation of the number of the beast in Revelation, in which we are instructed to do so....NOT anywhere else.
Elders is a term for Church Leadership, NOT Synagogue Leadership.

As for the most logical explanation of what is the Mark of the Beast, see my post # 25 on this thread: http://christianchat.com/bible-discussion-forum/97034-mark-beast-666-a-2.html#post1643698

Revelation 13:16-18 (NKJV)
[SUP]16 [/SUP] He causes all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hand or on their foreheads,
[SUP]17 [/SUP] and that no one may buy or sell except one who has the mark or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.
[SUP]18 [/SUP] Here is wisdom. Let him who has understanding calculate the number of the beast, for it is the number of a man {Such as a Social Security Number, only it will most likely be comprised of three sets of numbers with six digits in each.}: His number is 666.

Re: Gnaw on this...

Ok you got me. JK, what do you think is a good Bible version.

I have NO PROBLEM using 11 Versions of the English Bible because I KNOW AND UNDERSTAND that the Word of GOD is what it means by what it says, NOT which Translation that I read it in.

Every time that I open my WORDsearch 10 program, I have it set to open the following 11 versions of the Bible. I can set it open more or less as a personal choice.

KJV
ASV
NKJV
NASB
HCSB
NRSV
ESV
NIV
GWT
YLT
ISV

My favorite Three are NKJV, HCSB, and NASB.

Listen Israel... GOD is ONE.
That is right, and that ONE GOD is made up of three personages, Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. NOT three gods, ONE GOD who is all three and all three are co-equally GOD.

Isaiah 6:8 (HCSB)
[SUP]8 [/SUP] Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying: Who should I send? Who will go for Us? I said: Here I am. Send me.

John 1:1 (HCSB)
[SUP]1 [/SUP] In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

John 1:14 (HCSB)
[SUP]14 [/SUP] The Word became flesh and took up residence among us. We observed His glory, the glory as the One and Only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.

John 14:9 (HCSB)
[SUP]9 [/SUP] Jesus said to him, “Have I been among you all this time without your knowing Me, Philip? The one who has seen Me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’?

Acts 5:3-4 (HCSB)
[SUP]3 [/SUP] Then Peter said, “Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit and keep back part of the proceeds from the field?
[SUP]4 [/SUP] Wasn’t it yours while you possessed it? And after it was sold, wasn’t it at your disposal? Why is it that you planned this thing in your heart? You have not lied to men but to God!”

ALL THREE ARE REFERRED TO AS BEING GOD IN THE HOLY SCRIPTURES AND THERE IS ONLY ONE GOD, WHO IS MADE UP OF THE THREE PERSONAGES:

Isaiah 43:10-11 (HCSB)
[SUP]10 [/SUP] “You are My witnesses”— ⌊this is⌋ the LORD’s declaration— “and My servant whom I have chosen, so that you may know and believe Me and understand that I am He. No god was formed before Me, and there will be none after Me.
[SUP]11 [/SUP] I, I am Yahweh, and there is no other Savior but Me.

Luke 2:11 (NKJV)
[SUP]11 [/SUP] For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.

2 Corinthians 5:19 (NKJV)
[SUP]19 [/SUP] that is, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them, and has committed to us the word of reconciliation.

All this part you quoted above of scriptures is true and wonderful! Jesus is my Lord and my God. One Lord.

But the man-stated part, this part quoted, is ignorance and a false God polytheism;

"That is right, and that ONE GOD is made up of three personages, Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. NOT three gods, ONE GOD who is all three and all three are co-equally GOD."

And we are to believe that silly pagan part you added with your own words? You can't fool an Israelite you polytheist!

We know who we Worship. His Name is Jesus. The Savior. Our Lord God. Don't try to push your three headed gods here, I'll be all over you.

Re: Gnaw on this...

if you think the NIV is and ok verision of the Bible you better think again. Also the KJV is the closest thing you can get to the original Greek besides the direct translation.
I've memorized the KJV for the most part and use it primarily in all communication. But actually the American Version (AV not ASV) is the most scholarly work done. Many less errors and transliterations than the KJV and more ms to draw on and more varium renderings available for cross testament proofs. But other than that, they are all good to look at, as long as one checks out all varium renderings.

Are we arguing the trinity again?

I know, one grows weary after while, and cries out with John:

Revelation 22:20 (NKJV)
[SUP]20 [/SUP] He who testifies to these things says, "Surely I am coming quickly." Amen.
Even so, come, Lord Jesus!

NO We really believe the Bible clearly points out that the SINGULAR GODhead most certainly IS made up of three personages who co-equally are the ONE GOD. NO, it is not polytheism NOR is it's origin based in paganism. You do not understand because you are NOT yet Born Again. The deep things of GOD's Divine Godhead, are NOT understood with the human mind, they are understood with the human spirit AFTER it is brought to eternal life by the Holy Spirit.

1 Corinthians 2:10-16 (NIV)
[SUP]10 [/SUP] but God has revealed it to us by his Spirit. The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God.
[SUP]11 [/SUP] For who among men knows the thoughts of a man except the man's spirit within him? In the same way no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God.
[SUP]12 [/SUP] We have not received the spirit of the world but the Spirit who is from God, that we may understand what God has freely given us.
[SUP]13 [/SUP] This is what we speak, not in words taught us by human wisdom but in words taught by the Spirit, expressing spiritual truths in spiritual words.
[SUP]14 [/SUP] The man without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him, and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually discerned.
[SUP]15 [/SUP] The spiritual man makes judgments about all things, but he himself is not subject to any man's judgment:
[SUP]16 [/SUP] "For who has known the mind of the Lord that he may instruct him?" But we have the mind of Christ.

DALLAS THEOLOGICAL SEMINARYFull Doctrinal Statement (for Seminary faculty and board)

Article I—The Scriptures

We believe that "all Scripture is given by inspiration of God,” by which we understand the whole Bible is inspired in the sense that holy men of God “were moved by the Holy Spirit” to write the very words of Scripture. We believe that this divine inspiration extends equally and fully to all parts of the writings—historical, poetical, doctrinal, and prophetical—as appeared in the original manuscripts. We believe that the whole Bible in the originals is therefore without error. We believe that all the Scriptures center about the Lord Jesus Christ in His person and work in His first and second coming, and hence that no portion, even of the Old Testament, is properly read, or understood, until it leads to Him. We also believe that all the Scriptures were designed for our practical instruction (Mark 12:26, 36; 13:11; Luke 24:27, 44; John 5:39; Acts 1:16; 17:2–3; 18:28; 26:22–23; 28:23; Rom. 15:4; 1 Cor. 2:13; 10:11; 2 Tim. 3:16; 2 Pet. 1:21).
Article II—The Godhead

We believe that the Godhead eternally exists in three persons—the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit—and that these three are one God, having precisely the same nature, attributes, and perfections, and worthy of precisely the same homage, confidence, and obedience (Matt. 28:18–19; Mark 12:29; John 1:14; Acts 5:3–4; 2 Cor. 13:14; Heb. 1:1–3; Rev. 1:4–6).

. . .
Doctrinal Statement | Dallas Theological Seminary (DTS)

All of the Mainline Christian Denominations believe this, as well as MOST Messianic Congregations.

THE MJAA (Messianic Jewish Alliance of America) Believes:
That the BIBLE, consisting of the Tenach (Old Covenant/Testament) and the later writings commonly known as the B'rit Hadasha (New Testament/Covenant), is the only infallible and authoritative word of God. We recognize its divine inspiration, and accept its teachings as our final authority in all matters of faith and practice (Deuteronomy 6:4-9; Proverbs 3:1-6; Psalm 119:89, 105; Isaiah 48:12-16; Romans 8:14-17; II Timothy 2:15, 3:16-17).
GOD

We believe that the Shema, "Hear O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one" (Deuteronomy 6:4), teaches that God is Echad, as so declared: a united one, a composite unity, eternally existent in plural oneness [Genesis 1:1 (Elohim: God); Genesis 1:26 "Let Us make man in Our image"; Genesis 2:24 Adam & Eve were created to be as one flesh (basar echad)], that He is a personal God who created us (Genesis 1 & 2), and that He exists forever in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, as mentioned in Romans 8:14-17 (Father, Spirit, and Messiah - Son) and Matthew 28:18-20 (immersing in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit).

GOD THE FATHER (Abba)

He is Our Heavenly Father as shown in: John 6:27b; I Corinthians 1:3; Galatians 1:1; Revelation 3:5, 21; Jeremiah 3:4, 19; 31:9; Malachi 1:6; Matthew 6:9, 32; Luke 10:21-22; John 1:14; 4:23; 5:17-26; 6:28-46; Romans 8:14-15.

GOD THE SON (HaBen)

God does have a Son who was and is and will return (Psalm 2; Proverbs 30:4-6 (cf. Hebrews 1); Luke 12:35-37; John 1:29-34, 49; 3:14-18). The Son, called Yeshua (Jesus), meaning salvation, came to this world born of a virgin (Isaiah 7:14 (cf. Luke 1:30-35)). The Son is God (Deity), and is worshiped as God, having existed eternally (Psalm 110:1 (cf. Hebrews 1:13); Isaiah 9:6-7; Matthew 28:18-20; Philippians 2:5-11; Colossians 1:15-19; Revelation 3:21 (Hebrews 1 - worshiped by angels); Revelations 4:8, 5:5-14). This One is the promised Mashiach (Messiah) of Israel (Isaiah 9:6-7; 11:1; Daniel 9 (especially verses 20-26); Isaiah 53; John 1:17, 40-41, 45, 49; Mark 8:29). He is the root and offspring of David, the bright and morning star (Numbers 24:17; Revelation 22:16). He is our Passover, the Lamb of God (I Corinthians 5:7; Revelation 5; John 1:29).

GOD THE HOLY SPIRIT (Ruach HaKodesh)

Introduced in Genesis 1:2b: “And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.” In the Tenach, the Spirit of God came upon individuals during the times of our forefathers, like Moses, David (see II Samuel 23:1-3), and the Prophets, for the specific purposes.
In the New Covenant, the Messiah Yeshua, promised His disciples that "the Comforter" would come to them after He was gone, described as the Spirit of Truth (John 14:17, 26), who was with them and would be in them. Yeshua further declared that the Spirit of Truth, would guide us into all truth and would glorify Him - the Messiah - not Himself (John 16:13-15). He empowers us (Acts 1:8). The Spirit of God seals us (Ephesians 1:13; 4:30 (see NIV and Jewish New Testament versions)). If we have not the Spirit, we are not His (Romans 8:9). He leads us and teaches us (Romans 8:14-17). His indwelling enables us to live a godly life. Acts 2:38 says, "Repent, be immersed, and receive the Holy Spirit."

I am not sure you understand me, I REPEAT.

THEIR is ONLY ONE GOD, and we Baptize in HIS SINGULAR NAME, the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.

The Father HE IS GOD.

The Son HE IS GOD.

The Holy Spirit HE IS GOD.

HOW MANY GODS DO WE WORSHIP?

ONE! The only GOD that exists.

I believe in the Triune Nature of God. I have a verse that Bowman can study and see what he comes up with.

Regarding the Grand Finale - I submit these verses and verse 28 is one that truly confuses some folks.

We know, "Jesus is GOD" - but this last verse truly does confuse some folk.
I already have my answer but would like to see what Bowman comes up with.

1Co 15:23 But every man in his own order: Christ the firstfruits; afterward they that are Christ's at his coming.
1Co 15:24 Then cometh the end, when he shall have delivered up the kingdom to God, even the Father; when he shall have put down all rule and all authority and power.
1Co 15:25 For he must reign, till he hath put all enemies under his feet.
1Co 15:26 The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death.
1Co 15:27 For he hath put all things under his feet. But when he saith all things are put under him, it is manifest that he is excepted, which did put all things under him.
1Co 15:28 And when all things shall be subdued unto him, then shall the Son also himself be subject unto him that put all things under him, that God may be all in all.

If you want to use the word person fine but the definition of the word is human being. There is only One Person of God and that is Christ. I do not say that Christ is the Father only that the Father is IN Christ. The Son is not a spirit the Son is the Physical Body of Christ. He is 100% God and 100% Man but He never ceases to be God. I do not believe in a Plurality of Persons doing so would make me a Polytheist when I believe in only ONE absolute God, ONE in number not thought or action.
Polytheism would be many gods.

The Trinity is one God.
