Actually that is a good thing. Jack Chick was false prophet that spewed hatred for the Catholics, and flooded a lot of Charismatic and Pentecostal Churches with his cartoon booklets with evil looking faces on Catholics and especially the Pope. Claiming the Antichrist would be a Pope, and the False Prophet is the Catholic Church. His ONLY support for his HATE ministry (By there fruit you will know them.); was that he interpreted the Seven Hills of Rome, as the Seven Mountains in Revelation. Mountains and Horns in prophecy symbolize Kingdoms or Nations, not the Hills of Rome. He stirred up more bitterness and hatred between Protestants and Catholics, than Satan ever did by himself.

Let me give you another possible view of this prophecy. John is DESPERATELY trying to describe modern day events that He cannot comprehend. When you read Revelation you have to keep that in mind. From his own reference point of experiences, he was given visions of the End Times, and told to describe what he sees.

In a vision John sees a giant statue that he recognizes as a Babylonian Goddess. Very few people know this but the French artist actually modeled the Statue of Liberty after a small statue of that Babylonian Goddess. Several years ago, before Desert Storm, I saw a film about a group of Pastors that were visiting Iraq, touring ancient ruins. One of their stops was at a large relief carving of a Babylonian Goddess in a cliff, and it was almost identical to the Statue of Liberty, spiked crown and all, only she was holding up a sword.

Now, with John unable to comprehend what he is seeing, but recognizing the huge statue in the harbor; isn't it logical that he would call it "MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS".

Read the whole chapter of Rev 13 to get the context. The Beast is a political system, the 10 horns are 10 kings (vs 1). One of the 10 heads receives a deadly wound, meaning a wound to the system (vs 3). The second beast (vs 11) is the anti-Christ, the dragon who gives power to the first beast (vs 4). None of this has happened yet.

So getting to the last verse; "Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six" (Revelation 13:18). Counting the number of the beast denotes the time of the beast, not a name. For this 2nd beast is also the number (time) of a man, meaning the son of perdition, the dragon, the anti-Christ.

The number (time) of the man (Satan) culminates when the 6th seal is opened, the 6th trumpet sounds, and the 6th vial is poured out. That's all 666 represents, it is not a name of a mark. The mark of the beast is representative of those who receive and worship him, on (in ) their forehead means convinced in their mind (brainwashed), and a mark on their right hand (vs 16) is symbolic of doing his (devils) work. The Mark of the Beast in Revelation is applied to a MAN, not Men. And John told his 1st century readers they can know who this man is!!! Revelation 13:18- 18 Here is wisdom. Let him who has understanding calculate the number of the beast, for it is the number of a man: His number is 666.

Now how could the 1st century Christians know this man and calculate his number if this man lives after their life time or in our life time?
