The one girl I support like to compliment me. At first I just thought they were nice remarks, but it's getting excessive. It will be like, Arwen, arwen, arwen (make sure I am paying attention), I like your socks. You're so pretty, you know that? I like you. You're beautiful. You have nice boots! I like that shirt! I like you. You're funny. Same stuff over and over again. I started tuning it out, cus I think I am encouraging it more if I say thank you (she likes to be thanked) -
I have to keep boundaries in the job. It's a part of it. I can't just say something endearing to a client nor a client should consistently say that to me. Often times, individuals who have support workers become like friends to them, emotional ties are form, but ultimately, I am getting paid. I won't be in the job forever, and someone people can take that as rejection.
So to take a compliment- it's so much more than just taking it- it's thinking about what am I encouraging and is professionalism here?

Took a taxi home. I've been a bit on guard cus of what happened recently. I read an article on Imgur that Sikh's are being mistaken as Muslims because of the turban. But how they wear it is different but no one seems to pay attention to that. And I am sitting there in the taxi thinking, 'come on, just because he is wearing a turban doesn't make him a threat to you! You've become too sensitive!!'
We had a very interesting conversation. He told me about him growing up, cultural norms and about his son now in university, and he wished me the very best in life. I did the same.

The hectic days are finally over.
I was juggling two activities with a tight schedule - preparing a very, very, very important presentation and playing the guitar for my friend at her office party. I was getting only 4-5 hours of sleep every day for a week while I need 6-8 hours of sleep to rejuvenate myself. Anyway, both went well yesterday. I can finally catch up on some much-needed sleep. And I am back in CC!!!
The past couple of weeks have been spiritually and emotionally draining for me. I need to find the right church for my spiritual healing. Too many wounds and too many questions about my past and about the church I go to. I don't know if I can even ask those questions about my church on CC. But I have been spiritually disturbed and I am confused whether this disturbance is genuine or this is of the devil. It has been so stressful that I think I will stop going to church for a while. Until I am alright ...
