I missed the point. What it be?
that going off to leave dishes means coming back to do them later, because as singles... who else does them (except for Bugeye's roommate.

See this joke only works for guys, but I'm covered if I ever have a queen. In the meanwhile, I can decide which side of the bed I want to sleep on each night - so that's a plus. I guess a woman would have to buy a king size mattress to make that joke, but those things are too dang huge even for two people (they are wide enough to almost fit three fully grown adults, who has space for that).

Actually, who am I kidding, I almost always sleep on the same side, the one closest to the wall. I like that wall.
Those previously married may understand the value of a king size bed. And we shall say no more.

As a married person I had a queen sized bed. About the time of the divorce, I had to stop sleeping in it...because too many others had. I gave it away to someone in need. for a while I slept on the floor or on the couch, then I got a full/double. I figure it's enough space to not feel cramped like in a twin, but not so much space that if I ever get remarried my spouse would have a hard time dealing with someone used to hogging a whole queen size bed.

it seems like always make too much food. seriously. i eat leftovers so much that i get tired of it, and it's like i want to bury the rest of my soup in the backyard and pretend that it's gone.

seldom do i make a batch of soup that couldn't feed a neighborhood. i never plan on it, but it kind of works out like that. i give away a lot of food to a couple bachelor guy pals, neighbors, and anyone else who has the misfortune of stopping by when i have extra food.

otherwise, i fill my freezer with 342554 containers of said soup, and am eating it forever.

what an disgusting, ridiculous problem. too much food. makes me want to mail my food elsewhere to the hungry people who could really use it.

but that isn't terribly practical.
Blond suggestion..........make a smaller batch of soup and stop using the commercial size cans and then add less water or milk....lol

I really do get what you are saying....how do you make a small batch of spaghetti when the jars of sauce are several ounces? I freeze the extra too....hummmm maybe that is why I started eating out of a can....dinner 1 can of corn, or carrots, or green beans, or beets - have fork ready, open can no heat just eat..... throw can away...... dinner done....single life gotta love it right? Thank God my single days are almost over and I can start to cook again and will have help eating it....lol

Elect, I found the Exorcist in poor taste too. Thanks for preserving it's memory by quoting the GIF. :(

I don't know if it was her point, but watching scary movies while single is less cool.
Also being sick when single kinda sucks, too. Especially if, like me, you don't even have any family in state to come be motherly to you.

Personally I wasn't in any way bothered by the Exorcist GIF.

actually, i don't use canned soup or spaghetti sauce. however, i will sometimes use purchased cooking stock.

the issue is that i don't have recipes. and i tend to add more ingredients to accomplish the end result. and doing so, the recipe grows in quantity. also, i think i just never seem to be very good at estimating quantities of food. plus, in the back of my head, i tend to think that i might be sharing, even though i really do live alone.

oh, and i suppose the blonde answer you might want to hear is that i'm not smart enough to figure out how to scale my recipes? : ) the free spirited gypsy in me doesn't really care that much, because no pot of soup that i make ever tastes EXACTLY the same. it's always going to be a tiny bit different, on the basis of seasonal ingredients, what extra ingredients i have on hand, and what i am especially having a craving for.

for example, i often have a 1/3 - 1/2 bottle of wine in the fridge that i will use for a big pot of soup or pasta sauce, so i will use that in substitution for part of the water. when people ask me for recipes, i always struggle to provide one, since i seldom have one for reference. just ingredients and ratios.

I can relate to a lot of this. Part of me is still used to cooking for 4 or 5. I sometimes put in single serving containers and freeze, but though I love leftovers, I don't like the SAME leftovers day in and day out. I would have made a lousy Jew wandering through the desert eating nothing but manna!

I don't use recipes in a lot of my cooking either. Good cooking is more about technique than the recipe, although some of the things that have turned out exceptionally well get my kids mad at me because they want me to duplicate it and I can't remember what I did. :p

One of the ladies I work with sometimes brings soup on meeting day. That may be a helpful way of getting rid of the excess soup. I got rid of a zucchini nut cake I made that way this week.

Yes, it's just a 'see' or a 'saw' without another person. Not a whole lot of fun.
OMGosh!! You just made me discover the real meaning behind that word!! I always thought it might have something to do with a saw like the one you cut wood with. (being serious)

Yes, I need to get out more..
