Why will Jesus let us eat out of the tree of Life in the new ?
Well, according to Genesis, eating of the Tree of Life grants immortality. It was to prevent Man from acquiring it that Adam was driven from the garden, and more specifically, he was stopped from eating the fruit of the tree. If Jesus is going to lead his followers to the tree then God must have changed his mind.

" 'The man has become like one of us, knowing good and evil; what if he now reaches out his hand and takes fruit from the tree of life also, eats it and lives for ever?' So the Lord God drove him out of the garden of Eden...." (Genesis 3:22-24)

What has changed? God previously guarded against Man acquiring immortality. Adam was driven from paradise to prevent it happening. Why does he relent now; or rather, why did he promise 2000 years ago to offer at last what he has always refused to grant? Note, it is still, after 2000 years, an unkept promise.

Oh, and receiving immortality in death is not the same as receiving immortality in life.

My Bible says one tree forbidden - Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil. Gen 2:17

Well, JL you just taught me something. Like Elect I thought there were two forbidden trees, but I double checked this because of your post and you appear to be correct. Adam and Eve were permitted to eat from any tree in the garden with the exception of the Tree of Knowledge. I wonder why knowledge would be forbidden?
JL, I am curious about what you think. If only the Tree of Knowledge was forbidden, and if Adam was driven from Eden to prevent him next from eating of the Tree of Life and living forever, then you must believe God was willing to grant immortality to Man only in the absence of the wisdom acquired by eating of the Tree of Knowledge.

Genesis says the knowledge conveyed was the knowledge of good and evil. I don’t consider nakedness evil, and neither does God, for he allowed Adam and Eve to wander around the garden as naked as the animals; but once they ate the forbidden fruit both the man and woman suddenly became aware of their nakedness and God made them clothes. What is going on here? Did they lose naivety? Had they been like children? Notice Eve didn’t even think a talking snake was unusual and neither did Adam. Prior to the Fall, God commanded Adam to procreate and subdue the Earth (Genesis 1:28). How would adults thinking like naive children accomplish such a feat? Something doesn’t add up.

Are you saying Adam was set up by God and by extention the whole of mankind

I wouldn't use the words "set up", but, yes, God intended for Adam to fall. If Adam had not fallen, then Jesus would not have needed to die for our sins. Jesus was the plan from the beginning! God did not mess up or make a mistake.

Wrong God did not intend for Adam to fall, that would put God in injustice. Adam fell because he chose to fail as we all do.

God wanted Adam to fall for all this suffering

Did Adam and Eve knew what was good before they ate ?

Who was Eve?

Gen 5:1-25:1 This is the book of the generations of Adam. In the day that God created man, in the likeness of God made he him;
2 Male and female created he them; and blessed them, and called their name Adam, in the day when they were created.

Were you born of the Spirit and the Word?

and man became a living soul

Besides what about Genesis 2:24-25 Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh. 25 And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed.

Might be we are not to eat from the imaginary tree of knowledge, Genesis 6:5

And GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.

Genesis 2:9 And out of the ground made the Lord God to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of knowledge of good and evil.

Everything in the old was done in the physical nature, but now God is looking at the spiritual nature and cast away the physical (Flesh). But it is up to us whether to revive the physical nature or keep the spiritual.

What does the Bible say repeatedly?...for the glory of God (not that exact wording, but with various phrasing).

I don't know why it is so hard to understand. God knew that Adam would fall. Jesus Christ was the plan from the start!!! Why do you lean toward thinking that God messed up...that did not happen!

I have a better question for you. If God did not expect or want Adam and Eve to fall, then why even put the Tree of Knowledge there at all? If God expected man to stay in the Garden of Eden for eternity, why put a temptation in the Garden? Some may say free will, but I can give my children choices without including unapproved things - and God more so. All of our free will could be sin-free options (or at least that seems to be a possibility). But God wants us to chose Him. He wants us to chose Love.

By pursuing knowledge of God by mere flesh and intellectual ability gains nothing. We must know Him by being born from above and having the Holy Spirit within. John 6:63 it is the Spirit that quickens. The flesh(intellectual power) profits nothing. The words I speak unto you are Spirit, they are life.

The tree of knowledge is carnal.

Does a baby know what is good when they are born ?

How long would God have left the tree of KOGE in the garden ? Do you think there was a probation period ?

Are you saying God created carnal knowledge ?

I don't agree with the title of the thread.

Everything what God created was good. The tree of knowledge of good and evil was not evil in itself.

Where are the 4 rivers in existance today flowing from and what are their source ?

Looking into this right now.

Eden was much larger than just the garden. The garden was in the east of Eden. Eden covered the same area as the promised land. The promised land is also the exact same size and covers the same area as the New Jerusalem.

Because of this, I think the garden was moved to the east of the New Jerusalem and is there currently. However, I do not have scripture evidence of this (haven't really looked). It is just a speculation but seems to make sense since the New Jerusalem fulfills the original kingdom.

Genesis 2:9 And out of the ground made the Lord God to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of knowledge of good and evil.

GOD called Adam and Eve to rely completely on HIM and forbade them to eat the fruit from the tree of knowledge and become gods themselves on their own, The tree holds the knowledge, to know between good and evil. The tree is not evil but only holds the knowledge, in order to distinguish between both, that is also consist of the knowledge of 'good'.

Men and women are 'evil'. For they violate the cautioned every word of GOD's commandments and instructions in the Old Covenant, in order not to fall into sin once again, even to the ones called into the written New Covenant, given to them all Christian and spoken from time to time through HIS unworthy servants, as a reminder and a stir up memory, in order to 'abide', honoring HIS SON, CHRIST.

Well... no garden, but here is the tree.

Revelation 22:1 And he shewed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb.
2 In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river, was there the tree of life, which bare twelve manner of fruits, and yielded her fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.
