I don't know, as an atheist I'm all for the eradication of religion. However i don't want one eradicated because of another... Which is what Seems to be happening.
Except Atheism?

Political correctness=let's pretend and not offend.
Another cloak for the self righteous........

Proverbs 24:23

These things also belong to the wise. It is not good to have respect of persons in judgment.
24He that saith unto the wicked, Thou art righteous; him shall the people curse, nations shall abhor him:
25But to them that rebuke him shall be delight, and a good blessing shall come upon them.
Also a way of running from the light, trying to shove it under a rug,

John 3:19-21 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.

It's nice if you can get people to agree with your error, helps one avoid looking in the mirror.

Might want to check your dictionary about what atheism actually means.
You don't take it on faith there is no God? What is your subjective experience affirming this? Have you died and returned, to tell the tale? The fact is, you can't know there is no God, hence your atheism a faith. QED

No, my Atheism is a lack of faith. I do not believe and therefore reject your claim.

Same as you reject the claims of Ganesh, Vishnu, Odin and Zeus etc.

Seems like a faith to me, to believe something you can't know; actually, blind faith, even, I'm talking in a literal sense. At least we know what we believe. But, whatever floats your boat. Hey! You guys need a church, maybe, "Church of the Immaculate Unknown." LOL!

I studied about, sought out and got involved in various cults and religions in the past and even walked "faithless" as ColinCat described. The only reason I'm a Christian today is because God sought me out, not the other way around. ;)

Atheism is a particular world view...
A world view which cannot be empirically proven, or substantiated.

Deny that all you like; it still changes nothing.
Facts are facts.

If your world view cannot be empirically proven,
then you are taking it on FAITH.

Your world view doesn't gain superiority over all others just because YOU HAVE FAITH IN IT.
Seriously.
What illogical rubbish.

Doesn't matter what it seems like... It's not a faith. It's the absence of faith. I don't see why that's so hard to grasp.

I have to hand it to you, ColinCat, you are certainly a gentleman the way you present yourself. Thank you for contributing to this site. I have a family member who is an Atheist and he is unbearably contentious and tries to offend folks on purpose. I won't debate with him at all. And of course there are Christians who do the same thing. Sooo.....

No. All atheism is is a rejection of one claim. It is nothing else.

You hold a random coloured ball in your hand. You claim it's red.

There is not enough evidence to reach that conclusion.

By rejecting your claim I'm not saying the ball is black, or blue or Orange or yellow or pink or green.. I'm just saying there's no evidence to reach the conclusion its Red.

Nonsense.

You claim, with certainty (which is completely impossible) that there is no divine being.

Seriously.
And you have absolutely no idea where the universe came from.
Atheists never talk about the "first cause" because they have no answer... nothing.
Any answer they DO occasionally grow the gumption to postulate, breaks all their own rules of physics.
YET... they deny, with ZERO evidence, that the first cause could be a divine being.

You take your world view on nothing but faith.
Your disbelief, your complete DISALLOWANCE of a divine being, is not provable in any way...
you take your world view on faith.

Lol Thank you, although I don't remember the last time in was called a gentleman. I don't proactively offend but will retaliate if need be.

It would be safe to say that with certainty, you don't believe I can fly. Why? Because it's an absurd claim. You'd be even more certain if there was no evidence.

Your right, I don't know how it all began. I have no idea. But that doesn't mean a magic man In the sky did it. There is no basis for that conclusion.

Show me evidence and I will reconsider. Until then I am certain he doesn't exist; same as your certain I cannot fly.

When an athiest uses phrases such as "Magic man in the sky", I know that the athiest does not really want answers, but simply has the agenda of trying to cure Christians of thier delusion and to convert them to thier way of thinking.

Well ColinCat, you may not want to beleive, but that is your problem not mine. I know God is real, I can give you many examples as to how I know God is real, but of course you will try to apply your thinking to them to try and argue the point that it is not God, but just co-incidence or something in my head, but I know these things are real, so no matter how much you claim they are nothing to do with God, I can never deny something I know is real.

Don't take offense when they trample religious traditions.
Stand firm, but do not be offended.
They cannot remove the freedom that you gained in Christ.
It is sad to see how much the world hates Christ, but these times are also opportunities to serve the Lord, and to turn the other cheek.

But to me that's what God is. He spoke and things appeared. He said let there was light and there was light etc. That's magic I'm my eyes. Talking snakes and talking donkeys... Magic. Bringing dead people back to life.. magic. That's not meant derogatory or insulting, that's honestly how I view God in the story.

And i believe you believe your examples are real. What I'm more interested in is how you reached the conclusion it was God and None of the other probable rational explanations.

Avoiding the question, and deflecting into silly strawman arguments is a poor debate tactic.
It's what people do when they have no answer.

We were never talking about whether or not you can fly.
But you had no answer... so you deflect.

The reality is, you have no answer to the "first cause".
You have nothing.

You have NOTHING, and anything you DO try to postulate breaks your own laws of physics.

You are sitting there with NOTHING...
and yet you have FAITH that somehow the universe created itself,
and you have FAITH that your theories (with no proof)
must SOMEHOW, MYSTERIOUSLY, be AUTOMATICALLY better than a theist view...
because...
your theory is the one YOU happen to have FAITH in.

There certainly isn't any proof for it.

I'm not setting up a straw man, I'm not sure your familiar with the term, as you'll find out later in this post. I'm using an example of how someone can be certain that an extraordinary claim with out evidence can be rejected.

That which is presented without evidence can be dismissed without evidence.

Speaking of a straw man.. I never said the universe created itself.. I never presented any theory.

I gave an answer, I said I don't know. I didn't make any claim whatsoever and then you went off on a little rant about claims I never made. There's your strawman.

All I did was try to explain in other terms why i reject your claims.

I have wanted to have a discussion with an atheist for awhile..seriously..i have a question..and am really looking for a serious answer...ok atheists believe in nothing, which is your free will to do..my question is, why do you care if we do believe in something greater? it doesnt hurt you that we believe..so why do you care if you see a manger scene..it makes me happy and you could careless, it doesnt effect you..so why cant i have my manger secne or why cant those boys playing football say a prayer before a game, it makes them happy and you just think they are talking to the air..so why fight it?? i am really hoping to get your view..I dont really know any atheists who could answer for me!!
