It's already been happening for a while now:

Indian Woman Marries Dog

No "court order" needed in India for bizarre things to happen, methinks!

this is what happens when you tamper with the definition of marriage.

Genesis 2:20 And Adam gave names to all cattle, and to the fowl of the air, and to every beast of the field; but for Adam there was not found an help meet for him.

That is correct, I one of my relatives married his aunt in India, under British law the marriage was null and void so he was free to marry my relation. The Aunt was upset so married his Brother, kept it in the family. I should point out that the Aunt was younger then the nephews, but still! Should point out this happened in 1931.

More conjecture and scaremongering. It frightens you because you don't understand it, it threatens your conditioning and you believe that the height society has fallen can be measured directly against its level of adherence to your belief system. Humans won't marry animals, or robots, or children. Allowing gay people freedom as normal people and as consenting adults is a far cry from paedophilia.

Forty years ago people would have said the same thing if someone had said that decriminalizing homosexual acts would lead to eventual legalization of same sex marriage.

oh wait, that did happen.........

Child marriages have been happening for centuries, and it's really sad that they are still prevalent. Marrying robots and computers.. :D Seems highly possible with everything going on in this world. So many people are already married to their devices more than their true spouses, no?

First off, if anyone read the original article, they would know the title "Courts told humans could marry animals" is sensationalist. It's an unfounded claim that some Louisiana attorney is flinging around in a much more long-winded court case involving gay marriage. To use that kind of slippery slope argument ie. if you allow gay marriage, human-animal marriages are just around the corner, is sloppy reasoning. If such a chain of causation itself has not been established, then the argument is invalid.

(Not to mention that it's quite offensive to compare the relationship between two loving gay humans to bestiality. If we're really going to oppose gay marriage, can we please use better arguments?)

Secondly, surely decriminalising consensual homosexual acts was a positive thing? I don't hear the cries of outrage that sex before marriage, no-fault divorce and being ungenerous towards the poor and are all decriminalised. Are they not all equally detestable before God? Why are we so fixated on legally punishing homosexuality while accepting that the other acts are sinful, but 'oh well, it wouldn't do any good to outlaw them in a secular society'? Is it perhaps because we are quick to rail against sins we ourselves don't relate to, while reluctant to bear down legally on the sins we do identify more with? Where is the humility and love in that?

If anyone really wants to engage with this seriously, they should take a read Posner's judgment in an appeal to the US Court of Appeals for the 7th Circuit from the Marilyn Rae Baskin v Penny Bogan and Wolf v Walker cases. He deals with a lot of the objections to gay marriage raised in the above article very articulately and rationally, including the argument that one of the main objectives of preserving 'traditional marriage' is for procreation purposes and child welfare. And blows them out of the water.

Cutting a long judgment short, the arguments against gay marriage are weak. Coupled with the blatant hypocrisy in tolerating many other 'biblically immoral' acts in our laws, I just don't think there's a leg to stand on here.

We acknowledge and confess our sins as sin, most gays flaunt it refusing to see it as sin, so the comparison is flawed.

Romans 1:22-28
22 Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,
23 And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things.
24 Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves:
25 Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.
26 For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:
27 And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.
28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;

Okay, this thread is veering towards homosexuality. Everyone has their own responses to it.

Roamer, your post makes you sound pro-homosexuality, though I do know that you are against the act of homosexuality, yet, you feel that it is not just if the court legalizes "sins" that they are okay with doing themselves, and decriminalizes "sins" they are least comfortable with. Which does make sense to me.

crossnote, I agree with you. God abhors the act of homosexuality, and I feel really sad for people who are caught in the throes of it.

Oncefallen, I know what you meant by stating that something seen as vile earlier, changes due to time and becomes acceptable in society. Though, it would seem rude if you had a friend who was gay, and someone came up to him and said that him getting married to another gay person is equivalent with him marrying an animal. So, I guess I can see why Roamer got riled up.

So, before this blows out of proportion, let's get back to discussing about how and what and why would people want to marry animals in the first place?

As seen in India, superstitions is one. As seen in a few other cases, people tend to love their pets more than they love other human beings. What could other reasons be?

Satan! Can you think of another force that despises God And His institution of marriage than him? The marriage of animals by humans is an attack on God. It is just that simple.

Oh Gosh, now the government is going to set up a marriage tax and call it a privelege.
I can see it now, Come in to the DML (Dept. of Marriage Licensing) and renew your marriage permit every 5 years after taking a marriage road test :p
