disciples of a ritual or disciples of Christ ?

odd, i thought you were a big fan of Peter. don't you remember how he says:
. . . who have been chosen according to the foreknowledge of God the Father,
through the sanctifying work of the Spirit, to be obedient to Jesus Christ
and sprinkled with his blood . . .
(1 Peter 1:2)
?
[SUP]22 [/SUP]Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently
this is a pretty 'good one'[SUP]*[/SUP] too.
you say that the Spirit doesn't make us obedient,
and quote a verse that says the sons of God are LED BY THE SPIRIT.
* 'good' as in ironically humorous, not in any way beneficial or true.
what has the Spirit done in your life lately?
or is there nothing to be done, H[SUB]2[/SUB]O immersion having already fully perfected you?
Teach me to do your will, for you are my God!
Let your good Spirit lead me on level ground!
(Psalm 143:10)
did the psalmist have it upside-down?
I see teaching and leading ....but I see no making
take that up with James ...he said there is.....you must have the faith and you must do the work....you are waiting for faith to do the work...that is not how it works....
No, James said no such thing,
He said if you CLAIM to have faith, but do not have work. Your faith is dead.
[SUP]14 [/SUP]What does it profit, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can faith save him?
he never said they had faith, he said they CLAIMED to have faith, HUGE difference.
Dead faith. No life. No wonder there is no work.
Nobut you accuse me of trying to earn my salvation....are you speaking with a forked tongue??? there is no middle ground it is either faith with works or faith without works
. It is eitiher faith or no faith. You can say you have faith all you want, but if it is not real. it will be revealed. For you will not work.
You are trying to earn salvation. Because your faith is in your work, not in Christ, thus you THINK you are saved.
think again.
you believe I am trying to earn salvation...because I say faith without works is dead....
No, Faith without work is dead. non existant, zero zip nada.
Your problem is someone can claim they have faith. Get baptized and do many other works. Yet you will say they STILL might not be saved.
Make up your mind, if faith without works is dead, then faith plus 1 work will save you forever, for it is not faith apart from works.
Yes, but the style of baptism that Jesus commanded in Matthew 28 and Mark 16 is done with water.
The Greek word translated to English is baptizo, which means immersion in water, so when He commanded the Apostles to make disciples out of all the nations by baptizing ( baptizo ) in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
That scripture is saying to immerse them in water while saying, I baptize you in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
This is continued in Acts, as well as the epistles as to water still being used in baptism.
led by the spirit broyeah i'm seeing a lot of my brothers and sisters teaching you and leading you but none of them seem to be making you understand. 'you can lead a horse to water' as they say.
some still arewe were all formerly disobedient.
led by the SpiritBut we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.
(2 Corinthians 3:18)
whoah - says here we are changed "Titus 3:5by the Spirit of the Lord" !!!
"new-birth" were you born anew or not?
did you crawl back up into your mothers womb all by yourself or did you receive a new life by the hand of God? was that the work of flesh or the work of Spirit?
how did you end up with an obedient spirit?
did you build that all by yourself? got no reason to thank God at all for the renewing of your mind and the regeneration of your heart? all by the hand of newbirth?
Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;
led by the Spirit
if he had no faith ..why would he ask...Can faith save him? you agree in one line then disagree in the next...will pit it in red...No, James said no such thing,
He said if you CLAIM to have faith, but do not have work. Your faith is dead.
[SUP]14 [/SUP]What does it profit, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can faith save him?

Dead faith. No life. No wonder there is no work.
I do what Christ says to do ...you say it is my work ...it is called obedience..... It is eitiher faith or no faith. You can say you have faith all you want, but if it is not real. it will be revealed. For you will not work.
You are trying to earn salvation. Because your faith is in your work, not in Christ, thus you THINK you are saved.
think again.
I judge no man..it is the word that qualifies or disqualify..your reasoning is shallow....why would you want to tie me to a rule you design...I have already made up my mind to serve God.....No, Faith without work is dead. non existant, zero zip nada.

Philippians 3:8-13King James Version (KJV)
[SUP]8 [/SUP]Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ,
[SUP]9 [/SUP]And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith:
[SUP]10 [/SUP]That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death;
[SUP]11 [/SUP]If by any means I might attain unto the resurrection of the dead.
[SUP]12 [/SUP]Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus.
[SUP]13 [/SUP]Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before,
the same word used in acts 11 is used also in matt 28 and mark 16. so your reasoning is flawed.
that does not say the spirit makes you obedient bro ...the spirit sanctify/set us apart to be obedient to Christ......same chapter ...[SUP]22 [/SUP]Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently
we obey through the Spirit.....the Spirit does not make us obey
if he had no faith ..why would he ask...Can faith save him?you agree in one line then disagree in the next...will pit it in red...
I do what Christ says also.I do what Christ says to do ...you say it is my work ...it is called obedience....
Your not serving God, your serving self. Your trying to benefit yourself by serving, Hoping God will give you his gift. The pharisees tried this, It will not get you any further than it got them.I judge no man..it is the word that qualifies or disqualify..your reasoning is shallow....why would you want to tie me to a rule you design...I have already made up my mind to serve God.....

led by the spirit bro
some still are
led by the Spirit
Titus 3:5
Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;
led by the Spirit
You can not be led by the spirit unless your first born of the spirit. According to you that can not happen until after you work. So you can not be led by the spirit bro
How is my reasoning flawed.
I gave you the Greek word, and how it is translated to English and its meaning.
Baptizo- immersion in water
Plus if you look at Acts 11 it does not say that the gentiles that were listening were baptized with the Holy Spirit by the Apostles. It says that Peter when he began to speak noticed the Holy Spirit had came down to the gentiles also. The Lord our God had the Holy Spirit come down on the gentiles. This has nothing to do with the baptism commanded to the Apostles in Matthew 28 and Mark 16 by Jesus to make disciples of others in all the nations.

Yup, in real life, a lot of people claim to be honest pay tax but not. Claim to be Christian but not. Claim to have a faith in Jesus but not.
Tree seen by it fruit.
I believe it is what James tray to say.
If you have a real faith in Jesus, than you work will base on love, helping people in need, tell people about how to save etc, not rape, rob or harm other.
