Genesis 4:9 (YLT)
And Jehovah saith unto Cain, `Where [is] Abel thy brother?'
and he saith, `I have not known; my brother's keeper -- I?'
it is usually assumed that Cain is giving a flippant answer to God's question. Taken literally that is indeed what it means.
But what if it isn't such a flippant answer after all. What if Cain is actually answering gods question but doing it in such a way that he doesn't appear to be giving the secret away? what if the answer is hidden in the words that Cain said?
