"Included in the grand jury material released tonight after the announcement that no charges would be filed in the Michael Brown killing is a handwritten witness account stating that the teenager charged at Officer Darren Wilson 'like a football player. Head down.'
The unidentified witness wrote that the 18-year-old Brown 'has his arms out with attitude,' while 'The cop just stood there.' The witness added, 'Dang if that kid didn’t start running right at the cop like a football player. Head down.'
The witness told of hearing '3 bangs,' but 'the big kid wouldn’t stop.' The witness’s account of the unarmed Brown charging Wilson--even after he had been shot in the hand during a struggle at the cop’s patrol car--supports the officer’s contention that he fired a series of shots as Brown bore down on him." -The Smoking Gun
Ferguson Witnesss Told Investigators That Michael Brown Charged Cop "Like a Football Player. Head Down" | The Smoking Gun
"Big Mike," an adult and gang associate, violently assaulted a police officer and went for his gun who was trying to get him to leave the middle of the road where he was holding up traffic after committing a strong-arm robbery.
There are consequences to engaging in criminal behavior. There are consequences to committing a felonious assault (and possible attempted murder) on a police officer. One of those is that you very well might end up dead as the police officer defends himself and the society he's sworn to protect.
"Big Mike" was not a kid, he was an adult. And as an adult, "Big Mike" was 100% entirely responsible for his own behavioral choices. He reaped what he sowed and though it's not popular to say this, the world is a safer and better place.
Certainly police corruption needs to be ferreted out and removed; however, this has NOTHING to do with that but rather is a simple case of a police officer lawfully defending himself against a large adult assailant. Thank you Officer Wilson for having the courage and competency to defend yourself and fulfill your oath to protect society from dangerous criminals such as "Big Mike."
I'll take one of these:
