Suggestion: A "I said" button close to "LIKE" buttom

After a year on CC I learned there a useful bottom to show appreciation on those posts people have liked, by using "like" but I think it would be useful (and polite) a single button like that to NOTIFY people we said something about what was already said, without the need of pressing "like", when we wanted to be noticed or heard what we thought.

A button like that could keep the ball rolling, particularly in those threads that are sleeping and not yet closed.

Disclamer:

I´m not sorry for having clicked on "like" to get writer´s attention but I think impolite when I used to be heard, to send that writer a notification. And it´s sure not everybody like to read the whole of threads to say his / her opinion.

The button "like" could be a reward inside the thread system but "I said" could send a notification, instead of a hypocritical means that claimed attention for a need to be read and, besides this, there have been words talking back, in that sort of ignored secrecy, and I think it polite and respectful to be honest in the public eyes of any reader how wasn´t well informed.

Real Christian fellowship deserves honesty and such respect.

I've yet to hear of anyone using the like button just to get attention. Most of the likes i get i don't get back to the thread. Nor am i aware of anyone else that does. Not to say it doesn't ever happen, but if so it would seem a small minority.

Threads only get closed when they get out of hand and are problematic. If they go unused they are not closed.

I imagine this would be annoying more than it would be useful. Last thing i want is to get a bunch of messages telling me i've been responded to. And i can see this being easily misused. There would need to be limits in place to prevent it from being used as a means to harass someone.

The like button to me is simply that I liked the post, If a person wanted to let me know they replied to my post the usually message me or I just scan the thread to see if I was replied to. I can see how annoying it might be to have a notification saying someone replied to my post because if your in a heated debate for instance then you will be getting this notification every five seconds

I wish, as a function, there there a key/button that warns me where a person replies any of my comments (if so could happen) because I find it lenghty to check a whole thread when someone kindly has written anything after he/she has clicked "like" other times. Sometimes "likes" are simply likes but, there was the possibility of interacting or shring in one thought and I missed it, lost in a bulky thread I don´t often read because of time or for the lack of virtual bearings.

I´m aware several many people do not like any "disturbance" in their time, but words and ideas keep on talking for years to come.

Those notifications would function the same way a "like" notification comes, as a "friendly invitation" comes on the notification area. No one is really pushed to open them but, a buttom like that could redirect, exactly, to the comment a person said, same way a "like" notification takes the receiver to that "approval" on anything he/she said.

I remember having seen several people who wanted to see their thoughts considered on their threads or forums. Those got angry when not receiving the approval or attention they thought but, as a system and chat that is alive after several months...

Yes! Those who want that attention need coherency to DIG on threads, but I bet many missed something other said.

when you receieve a notification that you have a like, open it and click on what you wrote..it will take you directly to that thread and show you if anyone left a response..that's what i do.. :)

Thanks, Blue B! That´s what I´ve done from more than a year.

I just wanted to ease that process of revision, to skip reading a whole thread to find anybody´s response. Yet, LAS PENDEJADAS de DidymAs and SveinAn made me think many people would regret things like that... This site has the potenial for better things.

When I build my own site will add those functions I have learned here.

As a matter of facts, the "like" buttom is less compared to "I said" buttom in a forum.

The "Like" buttom may offer a token of appreciation (and too much attention like the buttom (*) that adds user´s apreciation) but the "I said" buttom may offer a reply, an answer, that properly suits what the Lord Jesus said:

"Mat 7:12 Treat others as you want them to treat you. This is what the Law and the Prophets are all about. "
