I am so disgusted with this thread. Everyone is so off topic, and the OP has no Bible verses!!
What kind of forum is this anyway?? A place where people think they can get away with ANYTHING! That's right, I called it.
So to enlighten you, let us talk about what the Bible alone says about straw! In chronological order, of course!
"She added, “We have plenty of both straw and fodder, and room to spend the night.” Genesis 24:25
This one proves how important straw is Biblically!
"Go and get your straw yourselves wherever you can find it, but your work will not be reduced in the least.’” [SUP]12 [/SUP]So the people were scattered throughout all the land of Egypt to gather stubble for straw. [SUP]13 [/SUP]The taskmasters were urgent, saying, “Complete your work, your daily task each day, as when there was straw.” [SUP]14 [/SUP]And the foremen of the people of Israel, whom Pharaoh's taskmasters had set over them, were beaten and were asked, “Why have you not done all your task of making bricks today and yesterday, as in the past?” Exodus 5:11-14
In fact, straw is mentioned throughout the Bible, esp. in the Old Testament.
"We have straw and feed for our donkeys, with bread and wine for me and your female servant and the young man with your servants. There is no lack of anything.” Judges 19:19
"Barley also and straw for the horses and swift steeds they brought to the place where it was required, each according to his duty." 1 Kings 4:28
"That they are like straw before the wind,
and like chaff that the storm carries away?" Job 21:18
"The cow and the bear shall graze;
their young shall lie down together;
and the lion shall eat straw like the ox." Isaiah 11:7
"The wolf and the lamb shall graze together;
the lion shall eat straw like the ox,
and dust shall be the serpent's food.
They shall not hurt or destroy
in all my holy mountain,”
says the Lord." Isaiah 65:25
For that matter, the prophet Jeremiah explains very clearly concerning what straw has in common with wheat in this passage.
"Let the prophet who has a dream tell the dream, but let him who has my word speak my word faithfully. What has straw in common with wheat? declares the Lord. [SUP]29 [/SUP]Is not my word like fire, declares the Lord, and like a hammer that breaks the rock in pieces?[SUP]30 [/SUP]Therefore, behold, I am against the prophets, declares the Lord, who steal my words from one another." Jeremiah 23:28-30
But most of all, we must remember the only New Testament passage which deals with straw, and is vital to our continued attempts to coax God to keep us saved, and give us rewards!
"Now if anyone builds on the foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw— [SUP]13 [/SUP]each one's work will become manifest, for the Day will disclose it, because it will be revealed by fire, and the fire will test what sort of work each one has done. [SUP]14 [/SUP]If the work that anyone has built on the foundation survives, he will receive a reward. [SUP]15 [/SUP]If anyone's work is burned up, he will suffer loss, though he himself will be saved, but only as through fire." 1 Cor. 3:12-15
BUT the term "straw man" NEVER appears ONCE in the Bible!
Seriously, read your Bibles and learn! Stop posting that women should not know their place or try to do ministry out of the kitchen, or that a 6 day creation is not literal.
I'm so glad I wandered into this forum to post the actual scriptures and stop this horrible false doctrine of a straw man from being perpetuated to a thousand posts!!
