The love of money is evil. The lust of someone towards another is evil.. I don't see horror movies as being prideful. They only remind us of what happens every day: death and destruction. Which is something we need to remain aware of, IMO.. We learn lessons from EVERYTHING, including *gasp* horror movies and *double gasp* metal music..
Yes, we wrestle against spiritual demonic powers in not behaving badly. Worshiping God in aggressive, mindless, violent, and prideful way would be one such example of a dark spirit of wrong behavior that you should try to resist.
The heart is deceptive and desperately wicked and who can know it. There is a way that seems right unto a man, but the way thereof is death. You still need to show me a verse that says we can act aggressive, violent, prideful, and confusing (with our words) in our worship towards God.
Again, this is battle and war time. This type of music was not Heavy Metal. You are making this verse into something that it is not saying specifically.

can you demonstrate to me that every distorted guitar riff necessarily induces violent, aggressive, prideful and confusing behavior? the only evidence you've given is your own emotion, but you won't accept the testimony of anyone else's emotion .. ?
This is an example of taking a verse out of context.
A horror movie glorifies sex, violence, nudity, death, despair, and promotes a spirit of fear of hopelessness. It is to get you to be in fear of evil things. It's goal is to cripple a person into feeling fear. The God of the Bible and His Word is nothing like that. Yes, God's Word reports on man's sinful activities, but God's Word does not glorify sex, violence, nudity, death, despair, and promotes a spirit of fear of hopelessness. God's Word does not get you to fear evil things so as to be crippled by fear. God's Word get's a person to trust in God and to not fear any evil in this world and or what the world might do to us. Big difference!
The Bible is all about Jesus Christ and how we can have salvation in Him. The Bible is all about the Good News! Not Bad News! The Bible is a love story and not a horror story. For God will save His people.

Some of the most ungodly music I'ver heard comes from the Southern Gospel camp. Pompous arrogant spirit that perpetuates false doctrine and has no fear of God or true worship. They presumptuously sing that they are assured of heaven because they "accepted" Christ, never realizing this walk is one of great danger, but also great glory -- if the would truly obey.
but that is not everyone in their camp -- and not every heavy metal singer is "of the devil". It is arrogant, and a spirit of unbelief, to believe that God would not use a certain type of music because it offends someone's religious spirit. But that does not mean that every so-called Christian singer should be taken at face value. Test the spirits and ASK GOD for yourself what you should listen to, and stop limiting God by your unbelief. You might be surprised at what God calls holy and what God calls profane

A person can either act righteous or unrighteous. The Bible does not support the notion that you can worship God in aggresive, violent, confusing, and prideful way. You shouldn't even do these things when you are not in worship. So why are they acceptable if one does so in worship? Doesn't make any sense. Unless of course somebody prefers their Metal music over loving Jesus Christ. For if one truly is honest with themselves then they will not listen to such music for at least 1 year (and put away their love of other wordly things), study God's Word and pray, and then come back to it.
My list means nothing but God has His list.
Christian and metal music are a contradiction in terms. Much the same as a saved atheist. Not only contradictory but incompatible.
Romans 1 when they knew God they did not like God so they changed God into the image of corruptible things. Knowing the recompense of such things they did so in open rebellion to God.

as long as we're mindlessly throwing out accusations of "prideful" sound, i can say personally that when i hear a soloist stand up and sing a hymn with a grandoise style, displaying all the range of human voice, i get a much greater sense of a peacock spreading out it's plumes than i do when a wall of pulsating, lively noise washes over my ears, giving me a palpable sense of the the impermanence and fragility of the corporeal world and the absolute power of God to make the wicked flee from before Him.

I'll answer this as simple as possible...

There is good pride and bad pride. Good pride is in having pride in God within a spirit of love, joy, peace, and truth. Bad pride is in one's own desires and what pleases the flesh and is something that the world loves (Whereby it is not noticeably holy or different). Metal music is bad pride. This type of bad pride in Metal music is wrapped up with aggressive and violent behavior along with words that cannot be heard clearly. Paul said, I would rather speak five words to you with the understanding, than five thousand words without the understanding.
You can use this verse to condone just about any wrong behavior or sin (Such as murder, hate, rape, theft, etc.). Acting aggressive, and violent in one's worship of God is not of the Spirit. Read again what the fruits of the Spirit are in your Bible.
just because you can't understand a singer doesn't mean no one can, and just because one song you heard has difficult-to-understand singing doesn't mean every song does.

one day setting aside my own pride (bad pride), i payed attention to what a Christian rapper was actually saying, instead of shutting my ears and judging him by carnal appearance. now i boast in Christ (the only good pride) that out of every nation and tongue He has called a people to Himself who lift up His name in their own language.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to belittle your own personal taste in music, but on the same token, I am defending others' taste in music from my own knowledge and understanding, to which makes neither of us completely wrong or right, but merely stating our opinions on the matter.
