Saw this story right before bed and woke up and checked it. From what I have seen 5 hostages have been released/escaped thankfully. From what I can see the situation is still on-going, so let's just wait until it is over to assess it. Hoping more people will be released. Stay safe Aussies.

They've stormed the cafe. Reports of gunfire. Seems a bunch of hostages ran out at the same time, and then police went in. No official press from the police, as this all went down in the last ten minutes.

Police had previously announced the hostage taker as an Iranian cleric, who was already on bail for violent offences. Seems very much lone wolf.

Does anyone in Australia think they should have concealed carry permits for citizens as in Texas? Give the people back their guns?

Yep, and talking with my personal friend in Penrith...one hostage killed, gunman killed and 4-6 hostages wounded.......

Please stop trying to use this situation to lure people into a gun debate, its annoying. We don't carry the same gun culture as the US, alright?

Sad day here in Australia. Praying for those families who have lost their loved ones and for the injured.

Pray this doesn't happen again!
 
But you know it will. It will get worse. Not sure that we should pray to stop something that can't be stopped. (?) Better to pray for God's protection from those who will not stop?

Nah. There are one or two absolute drooling morons that think that here, but 99% of the population aren't that stupid and are very happy with gun restriction laws.

Well it didn't. Turns out my assessment was correct.

Too bad those hostages died. But it's not a terrorist event, just a lone nutter criminal. Even the Moslems thought he was not one of theirs.
 
How is it not a terrorist act? Does the fact that someone did something alone make it not a terrorist action?
 
Interestingly a loopy leftist Greens political candidate started a twitter message (#I'll ride with you) because she was overcome with warm fuzzy narcissistic feelings after seeing some stranger remove her scarf. Without knowing anything about this woman removing her scarf, this loopy leftist imagined that Muslims are the main victims of the chocolate cafe siege as they might be fearful of being on public transport in fear of a backlash over the Lindt Chocolate cafe hostage incident.

This is typical of the hypocritical and narcissistic liberal/Left. For them it's all about seeming caring and compassionate, to satisfy their hypocritical sense of moral superiority over others.

But the Left's narcissistic indulgences really just reveals their complete disregard for the real victims (one of whom was a mother of 3 children). Australians overall are likewise victims of such attacks in the name of Islam as they feel less safe/secure in their own country.

The Left are truly a narcissistic heartless people.
