According to some here, all that is necessary to be saved is Christ's death on the cross yet Christ died for every man, Heb 2:9 but every man will not be saved. Obviously being saved takes something more than just Christ dying on the cross, if not then EVERY MAN will be saved.
yes it does And jesus gave is the answer. when he was asked what we must do to recieve the food which endures forever (eternal life)

John 6:
[SUP]28 [/SUP]Then they said to Him, “What shall we do, that we may work the works of God?”
[SUP]29 [/SUP]Jesus answered and said to them, “This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He sent.”

Salvation then takes BOTH Christ's death and man's obedient work of believing.

Since,

Believing>>>>>>>>>>>>>>saves
baptism>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>saves

and there is just one way to be saved then a saving belief must include baptism.

Lord Jesus also said that those who believe in Him are both hearers and doers, and not hearers only.
( Luke 6:46 )

Lord Jesus also said those who believe in Him will keep His commandments, those who don't believe in Him will not keep His commandments.

John 14:23
Jesus answered and said to him, "If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our abode with him.

Here our Lord Jesus is saying only if you are obedient will He reside in you, and you will inherit the kingdom of heaven, salvation.
Yet some will keep saying we don't have to obey His commands.

You deny faith saves?

You deny there is just one way to be saved?

now for the wrench in the works..... Yhvh's Word also says that even if His people obey Him, but do so grudgingly, He will punish them.... oy, such demands He makes ! :D

still, considering: 'discipline' for the moment seems painful, but better to be disciplined as a son than condemned ! (He doesn't discipline those who are not His Own) ((Hebrews, and the rest of Scripture, all! ))

Lk 17:10 "So likewise ye, when ye shall have done all those things which are commanded you, say, We are unprofitable servants: we have done that which was our duty to do."

Nothing to brag about for an unprofitable servant who is only doing his duty in what has been commanded him.

The real issue is what becomes of those that are derelict in doing what is their duty to do in failing to obey what has been commanded them?

Yes, because that obedience has to be done out of love for Him and not out of grudgingly or obligation.....
That is why I fight so hard for the love of our Lord about obedience to Him, because my love for Him will not sit back and let people tell others they do not have to obey the Lord's commands. To say that you don't have to do His commands is like saying to the Lord, I believe in you but I don't care what you said I still don't have to do it.....

More additions to the word just like Satan did in the garden and a cinnamon twist of the word at the same time! Wonder if they play Chubby checker records in the proverbial LAKE-O-Fire!

Dconn I don't believe in all that SeaBass says, but our Lord Jesus did say that the one who believes in Him is a hearer and a doer of His word, and not just a hearer only.

What does that mean to you that you have to be a hearer and a doer, not just a hearer only ?

Jn 8:24 "I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins."

Lk 13:3 "I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish."

Mt 10:32,33 "Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven. But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven."

Mk 16:16 "He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned."

Believe or die in your sins
Repent or perish
Confess or be denied before God
Be baptized or be condemned

Kenneth, study Hebrews 11.....

This is what the bible teaches....

The faith OF Jesus saves us eternally
Genuine FAITH will produce fruit
Genuine faith will be followed by acts of obedience
The acts of obedience do not save, do not add to salvation, do not facilitate salvation and or keep salvation complete
The JUST shall live by FAITH
Abraham BELIEVED GOD and it was put to HIS ACCOUNT FOR righteousness
BAPTISM is the FIRST act of OBEDIENCE and is the PUBLIC TESTIMONY IN PICTURE that YOU acknowledge the RESURRECTION of JESUS
WE are NOT saved BY works, but SAVED to DO the WORKS and there is a difference
THOSE who teach saved by FAITH+WORKS=TEACH a GOSPEL of a DIFFERENT KIND with NO POWER to SAVE

KENNETH...HOW long does it take an APPLE TREE to produce FRUIT?
IS it an APPLE TREE before IT BEARS FRUIT?
IS it an APPLE TREE the MOMENT IT SPRINGS TO LIFE FROM A SEED
IT IS STILL AN APPLE TREE WHEN IT BEARS 1 (ONE) piece of fruit
Does the APPLE make the tree MORE of an APPLE TREE...NO...just proves that it is an apple tree....
Does a work of righteousness make some one MORE a child of GOD...NO...just proves they are a child of GOD!
WE are saved BY faith.....that faith BEING the FAITH OF/FROM JESUS

How can we seen that which is invisible (faith)......by what it produces!

Look.....SEA.....Baptism does not save and if it did it would be included in the last clause of the MARK text that you twist to your own demise......

The GOSPEL of our salvation as found in Corinthians is THE DEATH, BURIAL and RESURRECTION of JESUS and belief into it.
BAPTISM is the PUBLIC TESTIMONY of faith into the RESURRECTION of JESUS..NO MORE..NO LESS....keep following your daddy and you will find out that you did not trust into JESUS and HIS faith, but rather a WORK of righteousness and WORKS do not save!

I have read Hebrews and studied it.
I was asking you a question, looking for you to answer me with what you think a hearer and doer of the word means to you.

I believe that our Lord Jesus saying that one who believes in Him is a hearer and a doer of His word. Is because that person does and keeps His commandments out of love for Him.

We don't do things for Him out of obligation, or grudgingly, or because we are robots programmed to do these things. We do them out of our love and respect for what He did for us. Lord Jesus shows us that our actions will show if we truly love Him. The lack of actions or actions of disobedience shows we do not truly love Him.....

How does God save....by what means has God chosen to save men?
How many times and how many ways must you be told?

We are saved by grace it is a gift of God not of works lest any man should boast. Salvation is a gift which cannot be earned, deserved or merited. It is not a reward for our efforts but the fruit of the sacrifice of Gods own Son. Salvation is wonderful and magnificent beyond description. It is to be received with thanksgiving.

For the cause of Christ

Mk 16:16-------baptism>>>>>>>>>>saved
Acts 2:28------baptism>>>>>>>>>>for the remission of sins
Acts 22:16-----baptism>>>>>>>>>>wash away sins
1Pet3:21-------baptism>>>>>>>>>>saves
Gal 3:27--------baptism>>>>>>>>>>in Christ
Col 2:12,13----baptism>>>>>>>>>>put off the body of sin
Rom 6:4-------baptism>>>>>>>>>>walk in newness of life
1 Cor 12:13----baptized>>>>>>>>>in the body
Jn 3:5----------baptized>>>>>>>>>in the kingdom

The bible clearly connects baptism to salvation. No remitted sins, no walking in newness of life, no being in Christ, no being in the body/kingdom without baptism.
