post 767 should say 'Humor' not 'hunor' :)
Every time you see one of my posts with an edit it is because I've found a typo or two. It doesn't seem to matter how many times I've read the post over, I don't see these mistakes until I've posted. :)

That sign is hilarious. Atheists are really being true Mr. Grinch's with that sign lol. I don't understand why Christians celebrating Christmas is such a threat to them, since they don't believe in God. They don't get all up in arms when someone believes in Santa Clause.

I meant I couldn't speak for T_Laurich... I don't know about scientific groups, but certainly individual scientists...
Here's one who publishes in refereed journals.
Do we have free will – a physicist’s perspective? |
I'll have a look at this.

(I don't think he states the phrase 'free will does not exist', but it's strongly implied in the facts he presents, I'd say... also, in the end, he appeals to chaos theory, which I don't think is a good answer... we can talk about that if you like)
I don't understand what you think that a lack of free will implies. Do you believe our actions are predetermined? What role does God play in this absence of free will?

Do you think God has free will? If God does, but we don't, what does it mean to say we are made in the image of God?

He said He was present ... What more do you need ?
Sorry Brainfreeze. I am being difficult with you. I know that you believe Jesus is God and that Jesus was thus present in the garden when Adam and Eve were hiding.

I don't believe Jesus is God. I don't believe the Old Testament says anything at all about Jesus. I do believe that John pushed the notion in the late first century that Christ was God, but I don't believe Matthew, Mark, or Luke support this idea at all.

Christians do interpret the rest of scripture through the eyes of John.

Evolution is most evidently a religion.
Also, I'm sorry church services were a chore for you. They're not meant to be some fun concert, but they are meant to challenge you, encourage you and edify you to grow in Christ and get to know Him more and more.
We children would sit through part of the service and then all head downstairs to our Sunday school classes. I have almost no memories of going to church, although I went for years. Perhaps those Sundays just all blend together. The day came that I asked permission to skip Sunday school and sit through the service. The request was granted, but I think I found that little better. After that I started bucking at going to church at all. I just didn't like. I don't think I understood it and I doubt I was getting much out of it.

No apology needed here, I understand, you don't believe ... Well the Savior or coming Messiah is written about in the OT, so I don't know what you mean there, as for just John believing this, all of the apostles knew Christ was God/Yah .. He said before Abraham was He was, so yes, He was a present eye witness to verify scripture as correct when He came through the flesh.

I've never understood the rational of people who make this claim. I am sure you've seen a dictionary definition of religion.

The Oxford Dictionary of English (religion: the belief in and worship of a superhuman controlling power, especially a personal God or gods.)

When I think of religion this is immediately what comes to mind. Clearly you must mean something very different. Would you call astronomy or physics a religion? Astronomy explains how planets and stars originate without supernatural intervention and physics is beginning to account for how the universe formed without a god. Yet you want to centre out the field of evolution and call it a religion? I just don't get it.

Evolution says nothing about how life originated on Earth. The Bible of course speaks to that. So evolution and Christianity don't have that in common. There are no gods I pray to or that I think exist. Now there are people who accept evolution as truth and who have a personal God, but they call themselves Christians. The thing is people who accept evolution often belong to a number of different religions, but others -- namely atheists -- don't worship any gods at all.

Hmm. I don't know if that classes as a witness.

"Officer, I didn't steal that car... I was home all night!"

"Any witnesses that can verify that?"

"Yeah.. Me!"

Doesnt quite work does it.

Why the apostles were there.... " to verify " and believe what they saw with their own eyes, Him raising the dead, Yahshua healing the blind, it all happened, and is recorded.. and John did verify " the heavens opening up and Yah/God declaring , this is His Son whom He is well pleased ".

Only the bible says they were there. There is no independent verification of these events ever taking place.

Hi Michaellee, welcome to the forum. :)

First a disclosure: I am an atheist. That said, you have misunderstood the poster. It is not an attack on Christmas, at least not on a secular Christmas. Notice the Santa hat, and in particular note that the girl is writing a letter to Santa; and there is a very traditional Christmas tree in the background. What she wants is to get out of going to church. As an atheist I love Christmas. It is my favourite celebration of the year. I even play the traditional carols, both religious and secular, but as a kid I too wanted nothing more than to get out of going to church. I can identify with this poster (though I would not have wanted to give up my Christmas presents).

The question was about " the Word of God " who witnessed it as it was written. The answer was given, some just don't want to have faith and believe " the answers ". I can't help there... The evidence is all around you though, if your seeking it, the whole world, peace, love, and all the fruits of the Holy Spirit... Testimonies as well.. It's just up to a individual if they want to believe it or not.

Its not a case of wanting to. I simply cannot. There is no evidence to back up these huge claims.

I'm part of that evidence, I would hope you would go check out a few testimonies and even mine in the testimony section on how some have come to know Christ.. He's real Colincat, real as you or me..

There are many testimonies from other religions, as well as testimonies from people who claim to have been abducted by aliens or have seen Elvis alive. Why is your testimony more valid than theirs?

Truth you will know when you hear it, the Spirit guides in truth and understanding. The love of Christ is unmatched to anything we will ever know, hear, or see.. not that some of them might not be lying, some can be led astray to believe anything that they thought they saw, dreamed, hallucinations, and other causes to make one think. God on the other hand " with faith of a mustard seed " will resonate with our soul.
