Non-beliver but my partners family is christian

Schrodinger, are you somehow peeking into that cat box? Because it totally ruins the experiment if you know whether the cat is dead or not!

Anyway, if your girlfriend is truly a Christian, and you have no desire to know Christ, then you should not be together. My husband would not date me, or do anything with me, unless we were in a group, until I became a born-again Christian. It was the best decision he could have made. If we had married and I had not known Jesus, I do not think our marriage would have lasted if we did not share this important world view. Plus, we were united on how to raise our children.

The Bible is quite clear we are not to be yoked to unbelievers.

"Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers. For what partnership has righteousness with lawlessness? Or what fellowship has light with darkness?" 2 Cor. 6:14

Yeah, well, you're asking someone who doesn't believe the Bible to be true to abide by the Bible. That's like telling a Christian they shouldn't proselytize to Hindus because Hinduism forbids non-Hindus and Hindus from mingling. Why would a Christian care about this rule if they believe Hinduism to be wrong? (I just made this rule for Hinduism up for sake of clarity, I have no idea what Hindus believe about mingling with non-Hindus)

It's pretty simple. Christians have taken the position of living by a common moral standard. It's unique to Christianity. Other views or religions live by a moral standard that varies from person to person depending on life experience. The two views are mutually exclusive. Trying to live together or have a functional marriage just isn't possible unless both follow that common standard. Test it yourself. You'll see.

There are numerous Christians who live a happy life with a non-Christian spouse.

They are living a life of patient endurance. The Christian spouse is always waiting in hopes that their spouse will convert. Even if they have stopped voicing that. You can take that to the bank. Just ask the Christian spouse how it would make them feel if the other converted.

I have a close friend who became a Christian a few years into her marriage. She loves her husband and they are happy, true!

EXCEPT!!

She is heart broken because her husband is going to hell! There is no greater pain for a believer, than to have someone you love, and to know they are rejecting Christ!

I do not expect a non Christian to abide by the Bible. And that is precisely the problem, and why the Bible instructs believers to NOT marry non Christians!

And anyone in a relationship with a Christian needs to understand this, so they can understand the struggle a believer goes through if they are not true to their faith!
