Well, it is from the Old Covenant. I didn't see NT scripture on it.... But I don't think it a disqualifier.

This story and the attitude of fellow Christians you've described enrages me!!!! What the heck is wrong with people?!!!! Here was a lost sheep that was found. In Heaven there was and still is more joy for her than for 99 sheep that were never lost in the first place. There should have been overwhelming rejoicing in any and all congregations she entered!!!! I can't stand my own brethren some time!!!!
Angry without a cause is not good but what is a 'cause'? I think that the types of judgmental hypocrisy , "i'm more holy than you are " attitude of some 'Christians' especially when confronting a new convert is 'A CAUSE'. Can we be enticed into a similar situation when we see these things occurring. I feel like saying " Thou Fool" but that isn't th e way to go. trust me I have about gone over the edge a few times. It all comes down to being led by the Spirit of God....and at times He will say : "from such turn away" .
Overall I do sense that a time is coming when we will see 'the temple cleansed'... The days of Playing Church may be drawing to an end,.....it is time to BE THE CHURCH !!

Why do some ask questions like --- How far to the edge of the clift can I go before I might fall off?

Like - How much can I Do & still get away with it with God? Why not ask - How can I get closer to Him and learn His Voice and Love Him more each day so that my THOUGHTS are like His and I "walk as He walked"?Sigh!

Why? Sin nature. Please do not take this the wring way but 'religion' (Not true Christianity) tends to draw aline in the sand, One side of th eline is good and one side is bad. Then many will walk as close to that line as possible and feel okay about it. Others will walk as close to the line as possible so they can see who just may be on the other side of the line and THAT makes them feel even more holy. God help us!!

...Do you consider those instructions as commands to be upheld? If not, then you have no reason to consider tattoos sinful, and you might as well tear Levitius out of your bible.
Unless you're an atheist (like you),
then you can tear out the rest too.

Right on, DC!!!! God bless you for living out the Gospel and being such an excellent Brother.
Thanks and I will say...

All glory goes to The Heavenly Father dia Jesus as he is the one who does the works thru me when I am full surrendered to his will. I am like the brothers in the garden when Jesus said concerning them that the spirit is in deed willing, but the flesh is weak...

What do I think? I think if someone wants to enforce the law I hope they themselves are keeping over 300 Leviticus laws themselves before they even attempt to bring it on others...including not having any mix fibre clothes in their wardrobe :)

What do you think?
Hello justin
IMO i would say that the motive behind the tattoo is what makes it a sin or not a sin.GOD said that body is the temple so that would make getting a tattoo against GODs standard of perfection if it is done for your own desire.

Everything we do if its for helping someone else and not against GODs word then it is acceptable.

I'm talking about after a person is saved though. If they got the tattoos before they were saved then tattoos would have been their least worries.

More importantly, what do you think, Justin? Nevermind us. What does your own soul say? What is your conviction? Are you attempting to learn what is sinful and what is not by the opinions of others?

Know a girl who came from a strong biker background. She is cartooned up pretty heavily. About ten years ago she made a quality decision and accepted Jesus into her life. She had become anew creature in Christ in a huge way Thank God! Anyhow....being as she looked the way she did she had a horrible time finding a church that would accept her. She was hungry for the word of God and her desre was to get involved with other Christians. This became a struggle for her and THAT struggle was incredibly sad sad sad!!!! I cannot express how sad THAT type of thing is!! No doubt Gid is not pleased at all with this type of behavior and sad to say it is more common than many like to admit.
Eventually God led he to a place where she was accepted " Just as I am without one plea". God help us!
All I can say to this is CHRISTIANS WAKE UP !! WWJD??
Praise God their evil actions did not drive her back to a lifestyle that God delivered her from but the FACTS are real that these things happen.
This is just another example of the current church not understanding that perfect love casts out fear.

We have a prison ministry, where we go into prisons and minister to the inmates. We don't care what they have done, what they look like, how many piercings, how much ink they have because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts for these people by the Holy Ghost. When God gives you a people group to minister to, their looks, past and alternations mean nothing to you, because compassion looks past the senses and flesh of man and is a burning fire that compels you to create a conversation that seeks to correct the broken condition.

I had a person tell me at the home church we were at a few years ago they were "called" to prison ministry....a few Sundays after this conversation, one of the people we ministered to in prison received her parole and came to our church. She had ink from the crown of her head to the soles of her feet and looked like she got in a fight with a nail gone and lost, but the Spirit of God flowed through her very strongly. She was a former black magic practitioner and we had poured into her for the year we had her in the prison we went to.

The lady that said she was called to prison ministry had no idea who the girl was and came up to me and my wife and asked why we were sitting with her.....I told her who the girl was, and then based on her reaction sternly told her not to give me back the paperwork for a first time visit to prison.

The young adult pastor and his wife came over and we introduced them to her and the young lady is now fulfilling the call God has on her life.

It is not ever about WWJD, it is about understanding how the grace and love of Jesus works in you and that you manifest that love to the world to destroy the works of the enemy....

highwayman Thanks,,,,good post. I am sure some of us have been down the same roads. YES "it is about understanding how the grace and love of Jesus works in you and that you manifest that love to the world to destroy the works of the enemy...."

I could tell of so many examples of why what you wrote above rings so true from my experinces. All have been called to the ministry of reconciliation.

"The lady that said she was called to prison ministry had no idea who the girl was and came up to me and my wife and asked why we were sitting with her.....I told her who the girl was, and then based on her reaction sternly told her not to give me back the paperwork for a first time visit to prison. "

I have had people who wanted to go to certain events that I had to ask them to just stay home and pray. The devices of the enemy we are not to be ignorant of. Good intentions are great but if the intent of the heart is to say "look what we did
" it takes on a less than desirable purpose in God's eyes and can in fact hinder the Spirit of God from working the way He desired. We should never be moved by what we see but pray for wisdom and heed the calling by faith.
I trust that the girl who felt she 'had been called to a prison ministry' wil grow and be obedient to whatever the Lord has for her.

Same argument could be used to ridicule Lev 18:22 and Lev 20:13. js.

That would be a good point if there werent scripture against homosexuality in the new testament as well. Can you find a NT verse on tattoos? I'll wait.

My wife has 6 I think. If I could get over my fear of needles I would have one. If they would be considered offensive tattoos then by no means. But non offensive or Biblical I wouldn't have a problem with them. Our worship leader at church has many many tattoos. It doesn't stop him from praising God so...I would personally say...up to you
Problem is, God doesn't care what you think about it, and He most certainly didn't put you in a position of making those decisions for him.

well.
in the NT we find that we are temple of God and that the spirit of God is in us (1 corinthians 3:16,17.
and leviticus 19:28 says "ye shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor print any marks upon you....

1 Corinthians 6:19 "What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?"

You can quit waiting. But I'll wait while you find a new or old testament scripture that endorses defiling God's temple.

You don't mind if I get up and make a sandwich, I hope. I'll be waiting a day or two.

When will the body of Christ came to full age enough to understand that tats or no tats does not make you any more righteous, than sleeping in a garage makes you a car!

I know some very powerful Christians that have tats and even got more after getting saved.

Whats next...........a comment that states all wearing tats are going to hell...
