o.k sorry. but your OPINION of Biblical truth is your opinion. no verse says hate the world. again, if that is how you chose to see it, go ahead. but just do not sate it as a attitude everyone has to have.
Perhaps brother you do not understand what I mean by the world. Let me try to explain. Again, I am not looking for strife or contention. I just want you to realize my point that I am trying to make. The love of God was shed in my heart when I was 23. I became a new creation at that age and have been following the Holy Spirit ever since. I am not perfect, but what I do have I have because I have chosen to listen the instruction, teaching, and leading of the Holy Spirit. The world when spoken of in the word speaks of people who are not Christians. We are all born into this world without a knowledge and understanding of God. But when we receive the Holy Spirit and Jesus washes our sins away then we are a new creation and we are no longer of the world.

The worldly mindset of people who do not know God is a mindset of sin and darkness, in which we all were once held captive too. The lusts of the flesh, the pride of life, sin, wickedness, etc. Having been in the world once I know what it is like. How is it I can hate those people who are unsaved and think somehow I am better than them? I cannot. I am no better than anyone else because the bondage people are in I too was once in. So I can look upon those who are lost and have compassion, and have love for them in my heart hoping one day they too will come to know the beauty of the liberty of Jesus Christ and the comfort of His Holy Spirit. But what I do HATE is the very nature of sin, the evil, the wickedness. I hate all of it. It enslaves people and destroys souls. So how can I not hate these things in which God also hates? We are called to love good, and hate evil. So my point is I hate the sin, the very ways of the world that is against God. The very nature of it, I hate. And this hate is not one of anger or walking around mad all the time. Anger is a flood and is sin in itself. But hating the world or the ways of the world simply means I refuse to accept it's beliefs that oppose God and all that He stands for. God hates sin, and hates the ways of the world. Sin cannot live in His presence, and one day sin will be done away with entirely.

The reason I even commented on this post was to state that some of the celebrities mentioned here are of the world, and have the same mindset of the world. Their lifestyles will reflect that. But like I said, God is the judge of their heart, not me. But as a Christian I am cautious on what or who entertains me so that I may keep myself pure, keeping the world out. I am moving on from this, my point has been made. No hard feelings gb9, have a good one.

Yeah I agree that behavior or life style doesn’t make you a Christian, deep believe in God makes you a pure Christian. There are a lot of Christian celebrities who have been listed in born-again Christian’s list.

We can only GUESS at who is a Christian unless we interact in a personal way with them. There are Christians and then there are Christians.

But I have a GOOD guess that Carrie Underwood who sings about Jesus and in her latest song about baptism and the blood of Jesus, is probably a Christian. One thing she does is not magnify herself in her songs - but does magnify the Lord. Have you ever heard her sing Amazing Grace with Vince Gill?

For some reason I have always thought of a "Christian Celebrity" as a sort of oxymoron?
The overall core of the two are completely opposite.

Not very smart on my part,
because there is no way of me/us knowing every celebrity and their heart. Did that rhyme?

So is Joel Osteen a Christian turned celebrity, or a celebrity claiming Christianity?
...or a celebrity using Christianity to keep his celebrity status?

I am almost 100% certain that both Aly and AJ Michalka are Christians. Both disney teen stars, but if you look up enough about them, you will see they act as Christians (been in Christian movies (Grace Unplugged awesome movie!), had some Christian songs and lyrics etc.) They also say they are born-again. I believe they are definitely Christians

Actually if you look at the lifestyle of certain celebrities it is apparent who is a Christian and who isn't. It's not at all difficult to figure out. If a movie star says he is a Christian yet he plays in movies where he or she uses vile language, plays in adult scenes, so and so on does that still make them a Christian? How can a person be a Christian and participate in obvious sin? Doesn't work like that. Jesus makes no exception for sin. I've seen actors who receive an award for a film they have played in in which the film contains all kind of garbage and then in their thank you speech they want to thank God for helping them make the film. God is not all involved with helping anybody produce trash. So anyone with any spiritual understanding can discern who is living their life unto the Lord in holiness and purity. Jesus said whatever comes out of a person's mouth is coming from their heart.

how much of a glimpse does anyone get into the lives of people we don't personally know?

i'm with Joi on this one...only God judges the heart.
and God has all kinds of kids....

1Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, John 4:1

Can you honestly say that false prophets are of God? Those who have done evil deeds? What about Jim Jones, David Carresh, etc, etc? I am sure you never spent any time with them so I guess you really have no idea that they weren't Christians right? I mean only God knows their hearts right? Cmon now. It is obvious to tell if a person is of God and is not of God. God is the judge of each persons heart no doubt, and He decides their fate when they leave this world. But Christians who do not test and examine all things, these are the ones who are easily deceived and blinded by the carnal works of this world. Like I said, an actor who uses filthy profanity, mingles with sin, embraces the very opposite of what God has said is pure, and then they claim to be a Christian? And we aren't suppose to be able to discern whether or not they are Christians? I am not saying they do not believe in God, no, not at all. And I am not judging anyone. But we are called to holiness and purity. So to be a true Christian a person MUST deny the sinful things of this world. I will not allow anything into my mind that opposes the will of my heavenly Father. God has all kinds of kids....well, there are the obedient children, and the disobedient. No doubt about that.
