But if they cannot contain, let them marry: for it is better to marry than to burn.
1 Cor 7.9 is a continuation of 1 Cor 7.1-8, which clearly tell us what Paul was talking about:

I used the NLT version here:

7 Now regarding the questions you asked in your letter. Yes, it is good to abstain from sexual relations.[SUP][a][/SUP] [SUP]2 [/SUP]But because there is so much sexual immorality, each man should have his own wife, and each woman should have her own husband.
[SUP]3 [/SUP]The husband should fulfill his wife’s sexual needs, and the wife should fulfill her husband’s needs. [SUP]4 [/SUP]The wife gives authority over her body to her husband, and the husband gives authority over his body to his wife.
[SUP]5 [/SUP]Do not deprive each other of sexual relations, unless you both agree to refrain from sexual intimacy for a limited time so you can give yourselves more completely to prayer. Afterward, you should come together again so that Satan won’t be able to tempt you because of your lack of self-control. [SUP]6 [/SUP]I say this as a concession, not as a command. [SUP]7 [/SUP]But I wish everyone were single, just as I am. Yet each person has a special gift from God, of one kind or another.
[SUP]8 [/SUP]So I say to those who aren’t married and to widows—it’s better to stay unmarried, just as I am. [SUP]9 [/SUP]But if they can’t control themselves, they should go ahead and marry. It’s better to marry than to burn with lust.

it certainly is refreshing to know there are men willing and able to be responsible for themselves. :)

but i do feel women can be sensitive that not all men can do this...
we raised 5 daughters to be mindful of modesty, and to have a care for another's spiritual well being.
there are a group of us old ladies at church who gently remind the new young women there
to think of that when dressing for church...
Why do christians bash women more than men on how to dress ?

Because as I stated a bit ago. Most Christian men are lazy when it comes to renewing their minds and instead of taking accountability and shedding their pride and admitting they have an issue they need to put under the Lordship of Jesus Christ, they berate women for causing them to stumble..

The Holy Ghost showed me a long time ago, that Pastors or other Male church leaders that preach the loudest about how vile sex and immorality is and condemn women for making them stumble are usually the ones that have the largest problems in those areas.

i know you have a point there.

i can only be responsible for myself and my daughters.
i'm only speaking of my own gender.

you men will have to sort each other out. :)

Well if I put on my speedo (man bikini ) you would be blinded by light. I'm talking fish belly white. Secondly what the difference between a bikini and underwear. You will say I would not walk out in public in my underwear, Liars. Women keep saying that men are exploiting women, no they show it willingly. They love to show it.

I think it's all but suicidal or close to death-wishing, the way women dress and Kerry does have a point. Job said that he made a covenant with his eyes to not look upon a maiden - but now with the internet - I can't imagine being a man because it's just everywhere... Thank God for God to protect our Brothers as they commit their vision and thoughts to Him and nip those exposures in the bud.

I don't think that all women "love to show it" but some feel that they're forced to in order to not be mocked by peers.

Others are just plain nuts and asking for trouble ... I mean the unsaved super skimpy bikini and thong-bathing-whatever-thing crowd, etc.. Kerry's right on that ... what are they thinking? I seems they think a lot about themselves and little of men - because they know that men are more visually aroused then women are and it's just plain sick to do that to men. It's just saying - you can look but you'll never have this to other women's wives or fiances, or single men that want to remain pure before God.
It is demonic - whether the girl is just looking for love in all the wrong places and winds up dead by some psychopath or a woman is doing it on purpose to tempt the every man she can that she won't go out with. It's dangerous both to the women and to the men.
Ah, but He did say - as it was in the days of Noah and Sodom ... so men of God just have to say and do what Job did and us Christians Sisters will stay in prayer for them - as they pray as Brothers for us, for our protection. Thanks!

Tavistock culture has made the minds of the people think dressing in odd ways is normal...

Been to a movie lately, might as well be a porno. Been to walmart lately, it's a playboy in the flesh. Women want to show it. Been to church, with their hiney's hanging out and tops that barley cover the Tata's. Women want to show it, so don't give me this crap about men exploiting women, they do it willingly.

What? Did you read what I posted? Leave it to you to have cross-eyes at this hour of the night and read things backwards.

Have a glass of milk and read it again, Bro.

btw - No - I don't go to any of those places but I know what you're saying - as I have to see my email providers homepage and it's what you're talking about and that provider pushes that more than any other provider. I'd like to change my email provider but it can get complicated to do so.... will see.

If men lust at women dressed modestly - that's their problem not ours.
And the man that doesn't lust over scantily dressed women is my kind of man of God. God Bless then!!

It depends on the context. Full nudity can be modest, in the right circumstances. There is something disarmingly innocent about it at times. I also think it's entirely possible that bikinis can invoke greater lust in a person than nakedness can. It just depends on the circumstance.

If a woman poses for a shot suggestively in jeans and a tube top, that is more likely to invoke lust than say, a woman posing for a nude shot, covering herself and turning from the camera with an undercurrent of naturalism rather than sexualisation. The latter, naturalistic picture, invokes little to no lust, in me at least, while the suggestive jeans-and-tube-top probably would invoke more.

I think that can be one of the differences between love and lust, as well. To be able to look at a woman as she is, without clothing that is, sitting innocently by your bed for instance, disarmingly natural, without lust, but rather with simple admiration and acceptance, I think is a hallmark that your relationship goes beyond just material attraction into something much more genuine.

That's how I feel, anyway.

I don't think lust is as black and white as the amount of clothing a woman is wearing, I think it's more to do with the circumstances and situation, as well as your perspective and approach.

Food for thought I suppose.

I believe that all private parts should be covered. Then you have different opinions on what parts are private. For me I believe cleavage is nakedness, but crack, and but cheeks. But unlike some, I don't believe belly, back, shoulders, arms, legs, or feet are nakedness/private areas. I think it is possible for a bikini to cover enough, depending on what kind. Cause some bikinis are what I call rectal floss. These thong bikinis that only cover a lady's private in the front but nothing in the back, and cover only the nipples and not the breasts, should be outlawed.

Some people get rediculous about it though, saying we shouldn't even wear shorts. God does not do favoritism. If the church can't wear shorts in Alaska, then the church can't wear shorts in the Bahamas. If an adult can't wear shorts, then neither can babies, toddlers, kids, or teens. If women have to be covered head to toe, so do men, even in the Bahamas. I highly doubt God covered Adam and Eve from head to toe after they'd been found naked. Some people say you can't even get naked to bathe- it gets really rediculous and controlling. I cannot get too hot, I get heat stroke. I'm wearing shorts and a teeshirt in summer no matter what anyone says.

As Jessica stated. When bikinis where first created. The only person that they could get to model them were prostitutes. Have the morals decayed so much over the years that we now have to discuss whether bikinis are moral or not ?

I have seen tiny suits on men.....Please don't do it as it is not attractive or lustful, gross is the word that comes to mind....
