Where did I say anything that warranted; "working hard to get something you don't have"

I posted Scripture, and you say that? Why? I don't get it.

I said:

23 But I saw another law* at work in the members of my body, waging war against the Law in my *mind, and bringing me into captivity of the *law of sin, which is in my members.

25 Thanks be to Yahweh, I have deliverance through Yahshua Messiah our King! So then, with this same mind, I myself serve the Law of Yahweh, while in the flesh that is yet subject to the law of sin."

I am not dead to this;

Mattithyah 22:36-40, "Teacher, what is the greatest commandment in the Law? Yahshua said to him: You must love Yahweh your Father with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your might. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets."

With out realizing it you just preached the cross.

perhaps (and i loathe this word as it concerns our faith) balance?

a balance, if you will, between what we should do and what Christ has done?

after all, the good works we're called to do have everything to do with serving one another.
we really don't need to worry about pleasing the Lord for His sake,
or, as Martin Luther put it, God doesn't need our good works, but our neighbor does! :)

the way we're called to serve and please God is by doing what we can for others.
the whole NT is full of that...we love God by loving other people, right?
the vertical consequences of sin have been put away by Christ.
forgive me, i'm weary, so this is probably not coming out right.
but if we look to the needs of other people...seek what we may do to assist them
with the love God has given us...we are fulfilling the law.
Jesus accomplished all we needed done toward the Father.
we don't have to even think about it. :)
we just think, really think...what do i have that someone else needs?
money? time? help moving? a meal? a shoulder to cry on?
these are the works God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.

talk to you tomorrow?

[h=1]Casuistry[/h] From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Casuistry (/ˈkæʒuːɨstri/), or case-based reasoning, is a method in applied ethics and jurisprudence, often characterised as a critique of principle- or rule-based reasoning.[SUP][1][/SUP] The word "casuistry" is derived from the Latin casus (meaning "case").
Casuistry is reasoning used to resolve moral problems by extracting or extending theoretical rules from particular instances and applying these rules to new instances. The term is also commonly used as a pejorative to criticize the use of clever but unsound reasoning (alleging implicitly the inconsistent—or outright specious—misapplication of rule to instance), especially in relation to moral questions (see sophistry).
The agreed meaning of "casuistry" is in flux. The term can be used either to describe a presumably acceptable form of reasoning or a form of reasoning that is inherently unsound and deceptive. Most or all philosophical dictionaries list the neutral sense as the first or only definition.[SUP][2][/SUP][SUP][3][/SUP][SUP][4][/SUP] On the other hand, the Oxford English Dictionary states that the word "[o]ften (and perhaps originally) applied to a quibbling or evasive way of dealing with difficult cases of duty." Its textual references, except for certain technical usages, are consistently pejorative ("Casuistry‥destroys by Distinctions and Exceptions, all Morality, and effaces the essential Difference between Right and Wrong").[SUP][5][/SUP] Most online dictionaries list a pejorative meaning as the primary definition before a neutral one,[SUP][6][/SUP][SUP][7][/SUP][SUP][8][/SUP] though Merriam-Webster lists the neutral one first.[SUP][9][/SUP] In journalistic usage, the pejorative use is ubiquitous[SUP][10][/SUP][SUP][11][/SUP][SUP][12][/SUP][SUP][13][/SUP] and examples of the neutral usage are not found.[SUP][14][/SUP]

I think you said that very well, I can not put thing into my own words well, I think you did. A balance, receive His mercy follow Him :)

as Martin Luther put it, God doesn't need our good works, but our neighbor does! :)
Yeah I think all the time Yah does not need me, but ohh how I need Him.... :)

and in a world that offers nothing but physical and spiritual death, yes out fellow humans do need what ever love Yah can produce through us!

Mattithyah 22:36-40, "...Yahshua said to him: You must love Yahweh your Father with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your might.....And....You shall love your neighbor as yourself. ..."

With out realizing it you just preached the cross.

Yahshua/Jesus says;

John 10:16, "And I have other sheep that are not of this fold. I must bring them also, and they will listen to My voice. So there will be one flock, one shepherd (4166. poimén)."

If it was not for His willing Sacrifice, I could have NEVER gotten to know Yah...

By the deeds of the law no flesh is justified.

The law was given by Moses but Grace came by JESUS.

The law is a schoolmaster to bring us to CHRIST.

So does the teaching stop* when we get to Messiah? Or do we (shamah) "hear and obey" Him*?

*2 Thess 2:6-12, "For the mystery of iniquity (secret initiation of lawlessness*) is already working, but the One restraining him will continue to restrain him, until he is made to appear in the midst. And then that lawless one will be revealed, whom Yahshua will remove with the breath of His mouth, and make powerless with the appearance of His coming-- Whose coming is according to the energy of Satan, who works with all power, and signs, and lying wonders, And with all deceivableness of sin in those who are perishing, because they did not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved. And for this reason, Yahweh will send them strong delusion, that they would believe the deception, In order that all those may be judged as not having believed the truth, but as having delighted in sin."

*What is the "mystery of iniquity" ?

For I say the blood of the Messiah is not a "door mat"

Hebrews 10:26-31, "For if we sin willfully after we have received the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, But a certain fearful expectation of judgment, and fiery indignation which will devour the adversaries. Those who rejected the Law given through Mosheh died without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses. How much more severely do you think a man deserves to be punished, who has trampled the Son of Yahweh underfoot, and has counted the blood of the covenant (with which He was sanctified) an unholy thing, and who has insulted the Spirit of mercy? For we know Him Who has said: Vengeance is Mine; I will repay, says Yahweh. And again: Yahweh will judge His people. It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living Father."

Hebrews 12:3-11, "For consider Him Who endured such opposition against Himself from sinners, so that you would not become weary, and faint in your minds. You yourselves have not yet resisted to bloodshed, striving against sin. And you have forgotten the exhortation which speaks to you as unto sons: 3My son, do not despise the chastening of Yahweh, nor be discouraged when you are rebuked by Him; For whom Yahweh loves, He chastens, and scourges every son whom He receives. If you endure chastening, Yahweh deals with you as with sons; for what son is there whom a father does not chasten? But if you are without chastening, of which all are partakers, then you are bastards and not sons. Furthermore, we have had fleshly fathers who corrected us, and we gave them reverence; should we not even more be subject to Father Yahweh, and live? For they truly chastened us for a few days as they thought best; but He, for our profit, that we might be partakers of His holiness. Now no chastening seems to be joyful at the present time, but grievous; nevertheless, afterward it produces the peaceable fruit of righteousness, that is, for those who have been trained by it"

Romans 14:22-23
22 Hast thou faith? have it to thyself before God. Happy is he that condemneth not himself in that thing which he alloweth.
23 And he that doubteth is damned if he eat, because he eateth not of faith: for whatsoever is not of faith is sin.

That's ok, I have faith. Thats why I work at the law. Because I have faith and now I can be subject to it...

Galatians 3:11-12
[SUP]11 [/SUP]But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith.
[SUP]12 [/SUP]And the law is not of faith: but, The man that doeth them shall live in them.

Uh-oh. Working at the Law is not of faith and therefore sin?? I thought those were His Instructions. How can I do His Will if I am not working at the Law??

Matthew 22:37-40

[SUP]37 [/SUP]Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.
[SUP]38 [/SUP]This is the first and great commandment.
[SUP]39 [/SUP]And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
[SUP]40 [/SUP]On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

Clearly, the Lord Jesus is telling us to work at the Law, so Paul must be wrong. Its ok that Paul is wrong because Peter tells us that Paul is hard to understand anyway.

Galatians 5:22-23

[SUP]22 [/SUP]But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
[SUP]23 [/SUP]Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

This is the fruit of working at the Law? Well why is Love one of the fruits if my working at the law is what has produced love? I am the one that has decided to love God and I am the one who has decided to love my neighbor. I decide whether I will follow Jesus Christ and I am the one that has determined to run the race and persevere.

John 15:4-5

[SUP]4 [/SUP]Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.
[SUP]5 [/SUP]I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.

Maybe I have this all wrong. Maybe His Ways truly are Higher than my ways and He is the One who produces the fruit of obedience in my life. Fruit of obedience? How can the Lord give me obedience? Don't I have to obey in order to be obedient?

Matthew 11:28
Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

faith is word #G4102 - pistisStrong's Concordance
pistis: faith, faithfulness

Original Word: πίστις, εως, ἡ
Part of Speech: Noun, Feminine
Transliteration: pistis
Phonetic Spelling: (pis'-tis)
Short Definition: faith, belief, trust
Definition: faith, belief, trust, confidence; fidelity, faithfulness.

After our back and forth IDK if you being sarcastic here or, but I can say personally that I read the Law to physically get it in my brain so He can do the rest, example; I had heard about the Messiah but I read in detail to know more about Him and what He said, for me same goes for the Law or more accurately Instructions.

But I do agree "anything that is not of faith is sin"

That is why I believe this principle;

Yaaqob 2:26, "For just as the body without the spirit is dead, so the faith without works is dead also."

Faith + no works = dead

Works + no faith = dead

We need faith and works, AND OUR FAITH AND OUR WORKS HAS TO BE POINTED AT THE RIGHT DIRECTION

Uh-oh! Someone misunderstood Paul! Well lets see:

Ephesians 6:2-3, "Honor your father and mother; which is the first commandment with a promise: That it may be well with you, and you may live long on the earth."
Uh-oh. Working at the Law is not of faith and therefore sin?? I thought those were His Instructions. How can I do His Will if I am not working at the Law??

Why is Paul teaching us a Commandment, word for word from the OT then?

Galatians 3:13,(KJV) "Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the Law, being made a curse for us, for it is written, Cursed is everyone who hangeth on a tree."

1 Corinthians 7:19, "For neither circumcision counts for anything nor uncircumcision, but keeping the commandments of God?"

Why is Paul teaching obeying Commandments are right?

Acts 24:14, "But I confess this to you, that after the way which they call heresy--so I worship the Father of my fathers, believing all things which are written in the Law and in the Prophets."

Why is Paul teaching us he believes the Law and worships accordingly if it is "not of faith"?

Romans 7:25, "Thanks be to Yahweh, I have deliverance through Yahshua Messiah our King! So then, with this same mind, I myself serve the Law of Yahweh, while in the flesh that is yet subject to the law of sin."

Acts 21:24, "Take them, and be purified with them, and pay their expenses so that they may shave their heads. Then everyone will know that those things they were informed about you (forsaking the Law), were lies, and that you, yourself, walk orderly, and keep the Law."

So we either have a contradiction or a misunderstanding, lets look at a few more verses as Paul can "be hard to understand...twisted into Lawlessness" (2 peter 3:15-17) as in a number of places he himself said he followed the Creator's Law;

Galatians 3:10-14, "10For all who rely on works of the law are under a curse; for it is written, “Cursed be everyone who does not abide by all things written in the Book of the Law, and do them.” 11Now it is evident that no one is justified before God by the law, for “The righteous shall live by faith.”d 12But the law is not of faith, rather “The one who does them shall live by them.” 13Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us—for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who is hanged on a tree”— 14so that in Christ Jesus the blessing of Abraham might come to the Gentiles, so that we might receive the promised Spirite through faith."

This passage and virtually Galatians as a whole was written to peole who, *apparently* thought their own works could save them.... There is a big gap between "own works saving" and "obedience to what He says... The Creator's standard of love:

Romans 13:9-10, "For the commandments: You shall not commit adultery, You shall not murder, You shall not steal, You shall not bring false testimony, You shall not covet, and all other commandments are summed up in these Laws; namely: You must love your neighbor as yourself. Love does no wrong to a neighbor; therefore love is the fulfilling of the law."

summed up is word #G346 - anakephalaioó
Strong's Concordance
anakephalaioó: to sum up, gather up
Original Word: ἀνακεφαλαιόω
Part of Speech: Verb
Transliteration: anakephalaioó
Phonetic Spelling: (an-ak-ef-al-ah'-ee-om-ahee)
Short Definition: I sum up, summarize, recapitulate, gather up in one
Definition: I sum up, summarize, recapitulate, gather up in one

So how can we reconcile just the few verses quoted of Paul here? The Galatians as a whole was written to people who, *apparently* thought their own works could save them.... Do we then walk off the path or make our own standard of what love is because of their error? Or do we learn from that lesson and know noting we can do of our own works can save us, but rather use the mercy granted to us by the Most High as a spring board to follow what He says, whatever one thinks that might be....

No Yahshua/Jesus is explain the ONLY TRUE standard of love..... Not my standard, your standard, the gas station attendants standard, the politicians standard, or *insert anyone here* standard, but the KEY points of the standard of the Creator....

Working at the Law? I guess this can be thrown in many directions to "break the bands asunder" Yet the Spirit speaks the same thing s the Law.... Everything promoted in the Law is a fruit of the Spirit, everything forbidden in the Law is a work of the flesh...

Is it "working at the NT Law" if I read this and think it is a right idea:

James 2:1-13 (ESV)
1 My brothers, show no partiality as you hold the faith in our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory. 2 For if a man wearing a gold ring and fine clothing comes into your assembly, and a poor man in shabby clothing also comes in, 3 and if you pay attention to the one who wears the fine clothing and say, "You sit here in a good place,"while you say to the poor man, "You stand over there," or, "Sit down at my feet," 4 have you not then made distinctions among yourselves and become judges with evil thoughts? 5 Listen, my beloved brothers, has not God chosen those who are poor in the world to be rich in faith and heirs of the kingdom, which he has promised to those who love him? 6 But you have dishonored the poor man. Are not the rich the ones who oppress you, and the ones who drag you into court? 7 Are they not the ones who blaspheme the honorable name by which you were called? 8 If you really fulfill the royal law according to the Scripture, "You shall love your neighbor as yourself," you are doing well."

No? Well it is a explaining/commentary of;

Leviticus 19:15, "Do not pervert judgment: You shall not show partiality to the poor, nor honor to the person of the great. In righteousness you shall judge your neighbor fairly."

Is every right principle given commentary/explanation in the "NT" ?

And am I "fallen" if I read i in the "OT" and oh so spiritual if I read it in the "NT"? I read both thoroughly, Yah willing.

No rather

Timothy 3:15-17, "And that from a child you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise unto salvation, through the faith which is in Yahshua Messiah. All Scripture that is given through inspiration of Yahweh is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of Yahweh may become perfect, thoroughly furnished for every righteous work."

When Paul wrote this what was "Scripture" ?

1 Corinthians 10:11, "Now these things happened to them as an example, and they were written for our instruction, upon whom the ends of the ages have come"

Romans 15:4, "For whatever was written in former days was written for our instruction, that through endurance and through the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope."

But it seems the adversary has people so scared of ever doing what YHWH says He wants man to be like and do they wont even read, as beneficial, most of the book....I believe this is A reason for the " mystery of iniquity already working" for it mysterious that people believe "I saved, now the only way I can lose my Salvation is if I seek to obey Him" That thinking is mystery indeed....

2 Thess 2:6-12, "For the mystery of iniquity (secret initiation of lawlessness*) is already working, but the One restraining him will continue to restrain him, until he is made to appear in the midst.

Yes there is only one way to Yah, and that is Messiah. No question.

Rest from satan and his ways? or rest from the Father and His ways? The world gave me nothing but physical and spiritual death, constantly misleading me, sending me hardship, trickery, depict, etc, but He and His ways have brought me joy, comfort, piece of mind, and gave me hope.

if a person has realized that they need JESUS then the schoolmaster has done its job and the person is now ready to move on.
If they are still trying to be justified by the law then they still need the schoolmaster.

GOD would have to do a work in that person before they would do this and under law a person would not get help from JESUS they would be directed to the law and they would not keep the standard of perfection in truth acceptable to GOD

GOD would have to do a work in that person before they would do this and under law a person would not get help from JESUS they would be directed to the law and they would not keep the standard of perfection in truth acceptable to GOD

John 10:16, "And I have other sheep that are not of this fold. I must bring them also, and they will listen to My voice. So there will be one flock, one shepherd (4166. poimén)."

John 7:16-17 "Yahshua answered, them, and said: My doctrine is not Mine, but His Who sent Me. If any man will do His will, he will know about this teaching--whether it comes from Yahweh, or whether I am speaking of My own authority."

Romans 2:28-29

king james version(kjv)

28.)For he is not a Jew, which is one outwardly; neither is that circumcision, which is outward in the flesh:

29.)But he is a Jew, which is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit, and not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God.

I agree.

Deuteronomy 10:16, "Therefore circumcise the foreskin of your heart, and do not be stiff-necked any longer."

Yeremyah 9:21-25, "For death has come through our windows, and has entered our palaces, cutting of fthe children from the public squares, and the young men from the streets. Speak, saying; This is what Yahweh says: Even the carcasses of men will fall like refuse on the open field; like sheaves of grain behind the reaper, which no one will gather. This is what Yahweh says: Let not the wise glory in their wisdom, let not the mighty glory in their power, let not the rich glory in their riches; But let those who glory, glorify in this--that he understands and knows Me, that I am Yahweh Who exercises lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness in the earth; for in this I delight, says Yahweh. Behold, the days come, says Yahweh: that I will punish all those who are circumcised only in their foreskins."

exacerbation without demonstration is conflagration

Hey easy on them heavy words, some of us are not native speakers :)
Gotta do my homework now and find out what congflagration is?
I selected the option 3 (other) but decided not to explain - I honestly dont see the purpose of it because you already have your opinion but I'm willing to help you do your statistics so I voted.

It is not that the commandments are done away with but that we learn the regression mode behind the sin that we remain in obedience to God thus the spirit and not the letter

I have to explain my stance silly, I started the thread? And you are welcome to give your view, but thank you for voting either way.
