Sun, moon and stars are "signs" and or symbolisms of greater spiritual things.
The greater light, or sun would be the Son, which is the Word, or Jesus Christ. In Revelation 22:16 Jesus said, “I am the bright and the morning star.” The brightest star we have is the sun, which comes up in the morning without fail. In John 12:46, Jesus also said, “I am the light of the world.”
Also the scriptures tell us that with God there is no shadow of turning, just as with the sun. So God rules the day and the children of light, the spiritual children, which are righteous.
Now the lesser light, or the moon, which rules the darkness has a shadow of turning. This is to represent the false light, or Satan. The glow of the moon is beautiful to behold, but remember it has a dark side. His children are born of the flesh, earthly and evil, they also walk in darkness.
The only light the moon receives is the light the sun has given it, this is a great mystery. And then we have the stars, which are to represent the angels of heaven. In Revelation 12:4 we see where Satan deceives a third part of them, and they were cast to the earth.
The Lord divided the 2 lights, just as he also divides the sheep from the goats.
1 Thessalonians 5:4-8[SUP]4 [/SUP]But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief.
[SUP]5 [/SUP]Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness.
[SUP]6 [/SUP]Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober.
[SUP]7 [/SUP]For they that sleep sleep in the night; and they that be drunken are drunken in the night.
[SUP]8 [/SUP]But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation.
