I don't really know the answer to this question, so I'd like some Biblical insight into it. Please provide a full explanation of the doctrine if you are familiar (I'm pretty blank on it), and provide solid Biblical evidence for or against the event as you are able.

Is it a Biblical doctrine or not <<<< YES , and what Bible verses talk about it?

Please note this well:
I am not starting this thread as a place to debate about when the rapture will happen (should it do so), but about whether the rapture will happen. Actually, I don't even mean this post to be for debate at all. All I want is to know the Truth from people who know.

I know that the timing of this event is a significant subject of debate among many of my Christian Brothers and Sisters, but for me it is good enough just to say that Jesus will win in the end! Ultimately, I don't really care when it will happen if it does, because I'm saved either way, and will never let go of Jesus... rapture or no rapture... be it Pre, Post, or Middle Tribulation. The time frame or existence of this phenomenon will not affect my Salvation, only the hour at which I meet my Lord. Hence, let all debates on the time-frame of this event be saved for different threads... I do not care when it happens, but only if it happens.

I want to believe the right thing about this doctrine, so please tell me what it is. I am completely open to either possibility (rapture or no rapture) provided I have the proof. Know that you have an unbiased/impartial audience in me. I only judge by the Bible which I hear and read, and no other standard will I use...

It will happen because the word of God says it does.

1 Thessalonians 4:13-17

13 But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.

14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.

15 For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.

16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:

17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

I am still undecided about what descend from heaven means... cause the kingdom of heaven is also within us, and Jesus will return in the same manner as they saw Him go, which was being taken up from us into heaven. I don't claim to know exactly what will happen or how it will happen, but this I know...

Psalm 34:21-22King James Version (KJV)

21*Evil shall slay the wicked: and they that hate the righteous shall be desolate.

22*The Lord redeemeth the soul of his servants: and none of them that trust in him shall be desolate.

Jesus had a mission to save all the lost.
Jesus is the perfect picture of the resurrection - He died and rose again on the third day.
All that is alive and remain shall be caught up in the clouds.

No secret rapture, for sure!

Maybe a meet and return? Not sure about that one, just that I am eagerly awaiting the Messiah's return!

This is EXACTLY what happens. We might Christ in the air, the portion of the atmosphere that has clouds in it and return to earth with Him to rule and reign for 1000 years.

Scripture provided upon request.

At His first coming? If He did, He ain't doin' so hot at it.

Amen! Whether people choose to call this event the rapture, the catching away or the great snatch, this will certainly happen. The dead in Christ shall rise first, then we which are alive and remain shall be "caught up" together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air. To deny this is to deny scripture. People mainly seem to disagree with the timing of this event.

It will happen because the word of God says it does.

Amen to this....there is a multitude of scripture that proves that the Parousia (body presence) of Christ and our gathering together unto him will take place as found in Matthew, Mark, Luke, 1st Corinthians, 1st Thessalonians (as you pointed out above), Revelation, Daniel etc. and not to mention the fact that even Parables like the parable about the wheat and the tares teach about the coming (Parousia) of Jesus and the saints that are left alive on the planet being gathered up with the ones who have died in Christ to meet the Lord in the AIR.....

The rapture is a church specific event. Christ is coming to take out His church prior to the tribulation. The tribulation is an event that centers on Israel and not the church.

Acts 1:11 we have the two men in white apparel testifying to Jesus return in like manner. They were speaking to the church not to Israel and certainly not to the unregenerate world.

Mattithyah 24:29-31, "Immediately, but after the tribulation of those days will the sun be darkened, and the moon will not give her light, and the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken. And then will appear the sign of the Son of Man in heaven; and then will all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. And He will send His malakim with a great sound of a trumpet, and they will gather together His elect from the four winds, from one end of earth to the other."

Theology ala Google...is nothing sacred??

For the cause of Christ
Roger

Amen to this....there is a multitude of scripture that proves that the Parousia (body presence) of Christ and our gathering together unto him will take place as found in Matthew, Mark, Luke, 1st Corinthians, 1st Thessalonians (as you pointed out above), Revelation, Daniel etc. and not to mention the fact that even Parables like the parable about the wheat and the tares teach about the coming (Parousia) of Jesus and the saints that are left alive on the planet being gathered up with the ones who have died in Christ to meet the Lord in the AIR.....

Parousia, Christ's second coming, has nothing to do with the literal rapture in the air that some christians believe in.

Well I suggest you study a bit as your statement reeks of ignorance....!

??? You used the greek word Parousia (which christians always believed and confess in) and packed the doctrine of literal rapture (an exclusively American, sectarian doctrine which was formulated by a catholic in the XVI century but was developed by puritans and rejected by orthodox christianity) and you tell me that my statement reeks of ignorance?

Your confusion of the parousia with a literal rapture is beyond ignorant. Is plain stupid.

The rapture is a church specific event. Christ is coming to take out His church prior to the tribulation. The tribulation is an event that centers on Israel and not the church.

Just curious, where are the scriptures that show a "rapture" prior to the Tribulation?

I suggest you learn to read English as the word RAPTURE is not found in any statement I made....and again I suggest you study as the Parousia is tied to Christ's coming and our gathering together unto him....my original statement stands holmes...!
