The roads were really bad tonight. We played "Follow The Youth Pastor." He had to direct us home (well, when we got to about the halfway point he headed back towards where he lives) because there was a bad accident on the main road and so we had to take the back roads that aren't so safe. We weren't sure where to go, and so we met up at the gas station and he lead the way. He went out of his way tonight to make sure we didn't get lost or end up in a ditch, which we almost did once. Then right before we turned onto the road I live on, we almost got completely turned around. Thankfully no one was behind us. So yeah. Twice we almost got caught in a pickle.

Maybe that's why I'm actually tired for once..maybe my nerves are a bit fried. I mean I've been home for about 2.5-3 hours. But still....eek. Today wore me out.
Glad you got home ok, Lil!

Oh yes! Always love that.

I also like the camel regiment and how they're so well decorated and well behaved! :D

Glad you watched it !! Yay!!!!
I only got to see the last bit of it. the motorcycles were just starting to roll though when i got to the feed. So I got to see the motorcycles and the aircraft flyover. (which the aircraft show was a bit hampered by the fog.)

Yeah it was really rainy and foggy.. unfortunately...

Everyone was really excited to have the Obamas as Chief Guests. Their first trip to India , they danced with school children...

The last time everyone was that excited about a Guest of Honour was when Carla Bruni was there :)

What I was really excited about this Republic Day was seeing the all women contingents and the women officers leading the cavalry.

Many regiments had both men and women leaders, and they all looked so dashing and wonderful as they marched in unison.

Also, Indian armed forces and India in general tends to have very colourful decorated regiments. ( It's due to our history of Maharajas, Sultans and their sepoys)

Another favourite part about Republic Day, is the National Bravery Awards.

They are awarded to children who, would have risked their lives (even lost limbs) saving others and displaying exemplary courage. Their stories are so inspiring.

They arrive in decorated elephants :)

Noooooo... my favorite song is ruined! Hahahaa... this is so wrong.

Have you seen the official video? He actually learns the dance and performs it himself. Such a beautiful song and a lovely meaning. Gives me hope.

I was curious so I watched the video, I also love that song and now I love the video. His is the first CD I've bought in a long time and I actually like all the songs on it. I love his voice.

ooh! I've had the same thing the last couple of days. a Nyquiltini at night does wonders!

I felt bad for him, Husband and I hope I didn't sound insensitive. It's just he kept saying his back hurt, over and over. I kept saying, sorry, let me rub it, how about an Advil and the heating pad. He kind of ignored me. Then I turned on the Benedict Cumberbatch Sherlock on Netflix and he laid down and watched it. Saturday night I had to take my Daughter to Urgent care, she has Strep throat and my Son wasn't feeling great either. So I didn't get much sleep. I just wanted my Husband to go to sleep, like my Daughter and Son. I did finally get everyone in bed. Then I tried to watch Friends and fell asleep. Kids are home today and I can't wait for them to go back to school tomorrow.

Arrived at work early as per usual, and as per usual, I put my seat back and listened to some music. Laying there, watching the clouds go about their frolicking against the morning sky ─ an almost hypnotizing ambulation perpetuated by far off gusts ─ Subdivisions played on my car stereo, filling the cabin with a subtle 80s rock melancholia, a seemingly befitting tune that nearly benumbed me, if only momentarily.

I could have remained there for hours, but alas...

Happy Monday, everyone!

I had to go to the post office first thing this morning (only to discover that they didn't open for another 45 minutes due to cutting back on hours in an attempt to keep it open...but I digress...imagine that...anyway, we took a drive up a dirt road and scared some deer and birds to kill time).

The woman working there is so very sweet and friendly. She remembers my kids' names, and told me how well behaved they are. She gave me a lot of compliments I'm still not sure I deserve, but it was nice to hear anyway.

And then we somehow got on the topic of marriage. I don't remember every word of the conversation, but I do remember her telling me that she's been married for 48 years, and that she's left and returned more times than she can count, and that "Marriage is the biggest 'growing up' event in most people's lives. Until you've decided to stay married a dozen times when getting divorced seems easier, you're still kind of like a kid. It's that decision to be okay with the flaws in someone else and the choice to smile at them instead of yell at them that does it, I think. Even nearly 50 years later, I still sometimes have to wake up and make the concious decision to love him instead of leave him...and I like my husband."

Sometimes it seems like God is hiding around unexpected corners and waiting to jump out at me and teach me things and give me encouragement.

I bet that nice lady doesn't have a clue how much of an impact her words had on me this morning.

God really does show up in the weirdest ways and uses the people we'd least expect.

Starting off the day (midday) with a cleanse of grapefruit juice, lemon, and organic apple cider vinegar. Overall, the taste is pretty decent but the smell makes me think of my childhood when I used to never wear socks with my tennis shoes.
I also made oreo pudding cups at work yesterday, so you can tell that the situation is pretty serious.

So it is time to catch up on things that have been neglected.

Hmmmm what should I do today? I know the answer everyone in my house would give me - laundry. -_- I probably should, and that's not too bad of a thing, I guess...it's just not the most exciting thing. "What'd you do today, Ev?" "Oh, I did laundry today! It was so awesome. Y'all missed out on some epic sorting, folding, and hanging today."

you know it's a slow slow day (or rather a heavy, long day that started way too early and is winding down) when:

+i've posted five times and they're all towards the top of the page. ugh.

+i am listening to stevie wonder and i'm doing more dancing than work.

+i'm trying to figure out dinner and i haven't had lunch yet. hahahaahaa.

+while i feel bored, i only have 345346435 things to do. this is soooo annoying. sometimes i wish i was more of an adult. : )

dear cc,

i am tired of trying to spread reputation around. what are you doing to me?

i feel like you're totally messing with my discriminatory powers. the pressure is killing me. i will not bow! NEVAR!!!

grrrrrrr! maybe you should follow your own words! (i don't even know what that means but it seems to be a common technique for arguing).

sincerely,
frustrated gypsygirl

p.s. don't think i'm unaware you're doing that on purpose.

Any escape might help to soothe the unattractive truth
But the suburbs have no charms to soothe the restless dreams of youth...

(especially on a Monday! :p)

I grabbed a couple of TV dinner things for me and the kids for tonight, since it's just us here. I thought the kids would like them, since it's something we never have.

As it turns out, they're vile. Which I kinda figured, but I mean, I won't even let the kids eat them, they're that nasty.

Omelettes it is.
