A movie about the war, has to have heroes and glory. So cut out all the horrible bits and splice it up.

We can't have a movie about the actual causes for the Iraq War....

I agree with part of your post but we do know that some of the big liberal thinkers have suggested this very thing needs to be done...the old system of family and faith needs to be destroyed so they can build a better society... Is it very much a part of the agenda for some to destroy the traditional ideas that many of us believe have made us the great nation we are.

Personally, as a liberal, I believe everything should be challenged, even stereotypical liberalism, if such a thing exists. When I challenge ideas, I usually come up with conclusions that I feel are relevant and pertinent, and any such conclusions I make are not because I am part of some wider conspiratorial ''agenda'' which I adhere to without thought, but because I have come to those conclusions after weighing the precursors to it with utmost effort.

I think even the idea that it's tradition that made our society strong should be challenged. I challenge whether traditions are better left as they are, of if society would be better if they were destroyed. I challenge, because that's who I am. I dislike to accept anything ''just because that's how it is'' or ''that's how it used to be'' or ''that's what we were told to think''.

I disagree. America (as a global commercial, industrial, political and military entity) upholds virtually none of what Jesus taught:

Don't seek power, don't kill, don't hoard riches, strive for peace, sacrifice yourself before others, be humble, give to the poor.

Well, America are the most powerful, one of the most murderous of innocents, the second richest now I think, the country in the most wars, the country best known for competitiveness and arrogance, one of the highest for rates of homelessness and poverty .. etc etc etc.

Of course, when it's Gadaffi or Hussein who takes such a stance and murders a few hundred thousand you're up in arms, but when it's Bush you shrug it off and take to demeaning the customs and rights to self-governance of the very people America are out there killing and trying to govern!

This was said by Kyle in his book upon which the movie was based. It refers to a question his co-author asked him about "defending the Iraqi people." Kyle didn't say he wasn't helping the Iraqi people, but he did say his first and foremost concern in battle was to protect his people.

''The locals are savages''

Moronic lie. Anyone can look this one up in his book, or now, on the Internet. No, he did not say that. He said the people who are now ISIS, who were then al-Qaeda in Iraq, were savages. All you've got to do is turn on the news and wait for five minutes for the latest ISIS atrocity to be reported, and you will know Kyle was right.

In World War II and Korea, U.S. and allied troops knew the enemy. He was the guy in the different uniform. Since Vietnam, it has at times been impossible to tell who, for sure, the enemy is. But you've never had the guts to go to war, so you wouldn't know that, would you?

The enemy could be a guy standing on a parapet holding a cell phone: Is he making a call to:

• his wife to ask if she is in a safe place
• an al-Qaeda sniper seeking to shoot U.S.. or allied personnel, or
• another cell phone wired to a car bomb at the end of the street?

The enemy could be a woman dressed in a burqa walking out a doorway with a young boy. Is she:

• going to to the market and has brought him along to help
• distracting the U.S. or allied troops for the same sniper the guy on cell phone is calling, or
• does she have a bomb vest or grenade under her burqa, waiting to detonate them as she gets among the uniformed troops?

The enemy could be the driver of an old beat-up U.S.-made pickup, speeding hellbent through the town. Is he:

• late for work
• going to ram a contingent of U.S. or allied troops, or
• rushing to find them to warn of an al-Qaeda ambush?

Anti-terrorism tactics require split second decisions to be made regarding these incidents. Hesitate, and everyone may be dead. Act too soon, and you may face court-martial for killing an innocent civilian. And the difference in knowing may be a half-second or less -- less than the time a Yordano Ventura fastball travels from his hand to home plate.

And you criticize the men who made those decisions on a daily basis for expressing the truth of their service? You're wasting your time and needlessly irritating trillions of electrons with this tripe, because I don't care what you think, and neither does anyone else here, given you want to take the opportunity of an anonymous message board and trash a man who isn't even alive to defend himself, despite the fact his actions may prove to have saved your sorry butt somewhere along the line.
