So would you consider it a fairy tale made of whole cloth or do you find anything redeeming in it?

Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who care for it will eat its fruits.

A fool's lips bring strife and his mouth invites blows. A fool's mouth is his ruin and his lips are the snare of his soul.

He who guards his mouth and his tongue guards his soul from troubles.

It is not what goes into the mouth that defiles a person, but what comes out of the mouth that defiles a person.

So are you inferring that the Bible is nothing but fairy tales? Typical muslim behavior, you guys should really try something new. We're on to you human!

As has been pointed out to you before, I'm not Muslim.

I never inferred that the entire bible was a fairy tale. KaylaGirl assumed I did, and asked me why I would study it. I replied that logically, I could study anything for any number of reasons. Its validity or lack thereof does not negate my right to study it.

it may have been pointed out just not by you. That you were explicitly not a Muslim you said you were an atheist which I honestly think is a cop out. But thanks for clarifying that because it is impossible to determine that from your posts as a casual observer.

I guess parts of it are a fairy tale to you? I feel that you've studied it so that you could mock others who are not as smart as you. Your a very intelligent young man and don't have a problem letting everyone know that.
No one is trying to negate anyone's right to study the Bible. It's just that this is a Christian blog and you know that in the Word it says all scripture is God breathed and good for teaching, rebuke and instuction. So when you tell someone of the faith that even parts of it are a fairytale then you might as well be saying all of it is.
It is also written, from the word of Jesus himself, that they will hate you because they hated Me first. Meaning that it's not you, Christians, who are hated it's Me, Jesus, who is hated. So you can come in here and stir it up all you want but it's Jesus who you hate. Jesus also said, he who leads the least one of these astray it would be better for him that a millstone be tied around his neck and be set afloat in the deep. Words to remember human, words to remember.

I can denounce ignorant speech and the irresponsible use of ''free speech'', the violent teachings within the bible and the unfairness of judgement of ''one side'' without hating Jesus. As far as I'm concerned, the man taught humility, patience, the stilling of the tongue, respect for others and compassion and understanding. If I hated Jesus I'd say ''yea that's okay, go and kill all the Muslims, say (or draw) whatever you like nomatter how grotesque, and of course, as always, kill the muslims''.

In reality, only a small part of the bible contains Jesus' words. A lot of it is written by unknown authors and is debatable in its representation of what ''godliness'' is. If you actually look at the things that only Jesus said, he doesn't condone irresponsible free speech, and that's the point I make about Charlie Hebdo.

Let's get back to being on topic.

Which really, the whole point of this thread was to discuss and inform people that 10 CHRISTIANS were killed by the Boko Haram in Niger, when their president decided to go and stand with Charlie Hebdo, a magazine dedicated to producing insulting smut in the name of free speech.

Typically, the Americans miss the whole point, and only a British non-Christian gets the point that with "free" speech comes responsibility, which was not shown by the magazine when it produces sexually explicit and profane material against Muhammad. (And Jesus Christ, for that matter!)

You can put your foot in the lion's mouth, or let the cobra bite you, but don't complain when death is the result.

Meanwhile, in Niger, we need to hear what the President of that country said, and the BIG mistake he made in attending the funeral of the Hebdo staff.

"The president added, however, that he shared the disgust of Muslims who felt offended by the caricatures of the Prophet Mohammad and that freedom of expression should not mean liberty to insult religious beliefs.Issoufou joined a march in Paris last weekend alongside French President Francois Hollande, in the wake of a gun attack that killed 12 people at the offices of satirical weekly Charlie Hebdo, which had angered many Muslims by printing cartoons of Mohammad in the past.
But Issoufou said on Saturday he had wanted to demonstrate his opposition to terrorism and not support for the newspaper itself."

I think we can all agree terrorism is wrong. No one condones it, except a few radical Yemeni murders. Sadly, world leaders attended Charlie Hebdo and his fellow smut makers' funeral.

BUT what world leaders will attend the funerals of these innocent Christians who were killed in Niger???

Where are the cries against terrorism and radicalism in the media for the travesty which occurred in Niger???

“We’re still trying to understand the savagery which erupted here — but it’s certain it was well thought-out, prepared and organised,” said Archbishop Michel Cartateguy of Niamey, Niger. He also cited bravery of local Muslims who sheltered Christians from the violence and imams who spoke against it."

“Everything is permissible,” but not everything is helpful. “Everything is permissible,” but not everything builds up." HCSB

“I have the right to do anything,” you say—but not everything is beneficial. “I have the right to do anything”—but not everything is constructive."

It is not helpful, constructive or beneficial to support pornography in the name of free speech, which has resulted in Christians being killed who have nothing to do with the protests or the terrorism.

What you speak of is cowardice. You seem to imply that if we don't offend muslims, they'll be nicer to us. I'm sorry that you think that, and what worries me the most is that viewpoint has become quite common in western society as of late. Oh how I prey you realize how wrong you are.

There's a difference between responsible use of free speech and 'cowardice''. If the opposite of cowardice is bravery, then are you saying Charlie Hebdo were being brave by publishing those cartoons? Cause I wouldn't call it brave, I'd call it stupid.

Yes, I think they were brave. You must remember what free speech is about, and why it is so prominent in the west. This country was founded by people fleeing religious persecution; people who were in fear for there lives. free speech, and esp. freedom of the press is a way of establishing power and equality amoung governments and there citizens, and even though the Charlie Hebdo incident didn't happen in America, most western nations have adopted free speech. What if someone drew an insulting cartoon of the queen in 17th century England, would that be stupid? Because they did, and people died for our right to do so.

Where do we hear a gathered worldwide muslim clergy clearly condemning these acts? Maybe because actually these acts, after all, are an expression of "true Islam"?

Just imagine if we Christians were to destroy all of their places of worship when they say a word against Christianity.........

Truly we are under the Covenant of Grace.

It's happened before. Christendom has a long and bloody history.

Not to mentions USA and it's allies leveling whole villages in the Wars after ww2.

We don't have to imagine anything, it's all been documented.

What I speak of is reconciliation! That is what the Bible speaks of!

"All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation;19 that is, in Christ God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation.20 Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God." 2 Cor. 5:18-20

A follower of Christ reconciles people to Christ. This means reaching out and being like Jesus. He never condemned the Romans, just the Pharisees, and the Saddusees for legalizing religion.

Jesus reached out to those who needed to hear who he was. Ths is not about offending Muslms, which is what Americans are doing. It is about reach out in love to reach billions of people who already believe Isa (Jesus), and that he is coming again as the Messiah. It is about loving and caring for them enough to speak forth the word of reconcilation. So these lost people would know Christ as Lord and Saviour.

The media is fear-mongering, pushing a non-biblical an agenda of hating Muslims, when they are part of the people we need to be witnessing and sharing the gospel with, rather than defending non-biblical values like free speech. especially when that free speech included a man (labeled as Muhammad) is seen being sodomized. Or the prophet is locked in a homsexual embrace and deep kiss. Or Mohammed naked in a porn movie.

That is not free speech, but disgusting minds puking their perversions out on paper. It was insulting, and not even humorous in any way. France is a depraved, godless country, and all those people need a gospel witness, Muslim or not

I do not agree with the terrorism, but I believe we should stand together with Muslims. Not only have we lost our chance to open the doors of reconciliation and salvation to them, but we have considerably damaged the witness of missionaries to Muslim countries, because by defending Charlie Hebdo, you have just alienated the people from the missionaries.

We are to love our neighbour and that includes Muslims. Jesus died for these 2 billion people just as much as for each one of us. Please pray eyes will be opened, and we will be able to bridge the small gap between Muslims and ourselves!

I am a follower of Jesus, not Muhammad. I am not against Muslims, but I am against Radical Islam. I don't think people should be allowed to kill children and treat women like slaves. France is not a "Godless Country". There is no such thing. God is everywhere, and Allah is not God.

Seriously? Goodness..............and these were Muslim villages?

Now, in times of war, in the past, has the US prosecuted that war with great destruction? Yes. As they should. The thing you and others like you do not understand is that there are only two ways to actually WIN a war.

1) Destroy the enemies ability to make war.
2) Destroy the enemies will to make war.

War is not "politically correct" niceness.........it is a violent, bloody, destructive and deadly event. Those who wish to conduct a "humanitarian war," need to stay out of the business of war, for all they will EVER accomplish is to have their own soldiers slaughtered. Radical Islamic Extremist understand this.............sadly, you and folks like you do not.

Honestly, there are some that might wish to condemn them, but they fully understand if they do, they will be slaughtered by the Radical Islamic Extremist.........and not just them, but their entire families as well........so, some could fall into this group.

But, this only provides a possible "pass" to those actually living in the Middle East, not those living here in the US.

(my thoughts)

No the RCC has a long and bloody history...the only peace and stability that has ever been on this planet has come when true born-again Christians have enough power to influence the world with morality that Christ has taught us. This country and other countries that have large born-again groups are the only source of moral stability in this world.

Point is, Christians aren't supposed to be irresponsible in speech. Are you Christian? Then why defend irresponsible free speech, which is commanded against? Might as well defend porno, adultery, murder, lust, envy, hatred and vengaence while you're at it.

stupid question......................seriously...........reveals you have no idea what the definition of "free speech" is. Seriously. There are some times when I wonder if you guys could pour rain water out of a boot...........goodness.

Citizens of this country, men and women, have fought and died to protect YOUR RIGHT TO "irresponsible/stupid" free speech. Kinda wish the Founding Fathers had been more specific with the 1st Amendment, but, then, it wouldn't be free speech, so we are STUCK having to defend the rights of ones like to speak in order to assure that those who have something truly worthwhile to say ALSO have the right to. The assault on "free speech" (in the last 20 years) has come from the Socialist Liberals who desire to silence any and all who disagree with them.

You guys are a joke, as is your commentary, and, yet, men and women serve and die to protect your right to speak. Maybe instead of all your gibberish, you should just say "thank you" to them and then shut up and sit down.

No we uphold the law that upholds free-speech and we also desire justice on criminals who murder law-abiding citizens. :)
