[h=1]Interesting statement by Bill Gates. He says he doesnt understand why people are not concerned about the dangers of artificial intelligence. Yes artificial intelligence can end up being a very dangerous thing for humankind.
I mean just look at all the jobs for one that have been lost over the years to machines, and if they keep improving on them making them more human-like and to the point to think for themselves. More jobs will be lost to machines, and even weapons of war will be completely man-free operational.
I have a lot of respect for Bill Gates as when the issue of taxes came up, he spoke up and was all for the upper class to be taxed higher then the middle class. As he said stop taking from those who don't have, and take from those who do.....

''Artificial intelligence'' is a bit of a misleading term. It is not 'intelligent'' in any truly autonomous way. Artificial intelligences abide by the programming they are given; it's at its base a binary system of predefined commands and functions that has no autonomous ability other than what people are able to give it, which at present is very little, and probably always will be.

AI is based on knowledge bases and algorithms, so true human-like artificial intelligence is actually impossible. The only true intelligence a person can create is a child. In fact, the current AI's are nowhere near that complex, they aren't even as ''intelligent'' as ants.

I don't know...its seems Bill Gates may have more info than you Human?

ai is now answering the phone for thousands of businesses across the usa and around the world.
ai is posting/asking/filling forms via queries online with people who go to their websites.

ai is gathering(for over 20 years now, worldwide, everywhere there's been a computer) all the data and correlating it so that every keystroke anyone has ever typed is (and has been for some time) stored and can be referenced and
readily related to all the other/any/ computer/phone/electronic activity by a person or group of persons anywhere on earth. (granted, the iron and bamboo curtains and the most strict secrecy around places in italy are or may be still somewhat isolated)....

every address, phone number, bank account, everyone has ever had is locatable and is for sale with various stages of ai from the local video store right up to international corporations and governments.

this is all in line with prophecy of torah, and with the culmination of the system that requires a number in order to buy or sell a stick of gum or an ocean liner or a government official.

those who escape will have to renounce bill gates, ai, the world system, and most everything else, and be willing like daniel in the lions den and like shadrack, meshack and abednego all willing to die for their faith instead of taking part in the great and idolatrous wickednesses of society. (yes, soon even the internet will have to be forfeit to have a true life of faith in yahshua by grace from abba - many ekklesia already refuse access to the internet because of what it would cost them (loss of integrity, loss of life of them and their family, and little if any benefit) ).... the world is not a safe place for anyone .....

AI is a smokescreen. The real conspiracy is the turning men into gods through electronics and genetics.

Jaron Lanier pioneered virtual reality, is one of the most experienced coders in the world and has wrote several books about the future of technology. He probably knows more about it than Bill Gates does.

This. Computers cannot think creatively, they are logic based processors. They can only do what they are programmed to do.

Is he here on the site? wow! maybe he could chim in? We can see Bill Gates thoughts on the subject :)

i think natural stupidity is much more dangerous than artificial intelligence...

All of the artificial intelligence that's out there is actually making us, as a people, much dumber. Society, as a whole, is so reliant on this intelligence (ie. technology), that our students aren't learning as much, and they're not progressing as far as they should by the time they're in college.

lol where do you get this from? We are at the highest level of human intelligence in history. We're planning manned missions to Mars, discovering undiscovered places, understanding more and more about our world, building hadron colliders and making massive leaps in physics, natural sciences, the arts, philosophy, languages, social sciences.

It makes us lazier to be able to find out information at the touch of a button, but the simple fact that we can have it at the touch of a button enables otherwise relatively uneducated people to find things out they never could have before.

The only issue I have with the current technological trends is that in may cases it is used for gossip, for entertainment business news and reading what J-Lo or Kanye are doing instead of furthering meaningful knowledge. But as far as college or university go, technology has catalyzed learning, not hindered it.

In a general sense, that might be true. I'm probably focusing on a single issue that I noticed in my Regional Geography class last week where, during a pop quiz (that I was not in class to take the week before), the ONLY state that everyone got correct over two class periods was the state we live in. Is that to say that artificial intelligence is to blame for that? Maybe not. In the larger sense it's an example of the state of the educational system in the US as a whole. But, at the same time, knowing that this information is available at the touch of a button seems to make it less likely that someone is going to actually study & learn information that they need to know. Thus, my statement about a majority of people being reliant on software & technology.

C3PO and R2D2 will be the robotic (gods) in the post human world.........obviously having a little fun ;)
