Very interesting. Some gods and goddesses from ancient religions (and modern ones) were/are merely anthropomorphised concepts eg. Time, Death. But most were/are actually complex (and not so complex) forms of ancestor worship and of course, corrupted understandings of the one true Triune God. For example, it's believed that some of ancient European gods and goddesses (from the Greek to the Scandinavian) were the children of Japheth, Noah's eldest son (as described in the Table of Nations, Genesis 10). In their life times these people would have been recognised as royalty, inventors etc. They would have been revered and upon their deaths mythologized and later deified, until fact eventually gave way to fiction. The same thing has happened all over the world, in every pagan culture.

As my claim might be harmful? What? The truth isn't harmful, it's liberating. I think demonic creatures, symbolism and creative imaginations account for the weirdness of pagan religions. I'm not looking at the world through a scientific lens, but through God's Word.

I could totally take Thor. I'd just get the big magnet from the recycle place and his hammer would be rendered useless.
Well to start magnets only work on certain metals, not all. And I highly doubt the NOrse gods would allow something as simple as a magnet to ruin their Uru forged weapon. They are actually fairly technologically advanced.

As I understand it there are two divisions of contemporary paganism- neopagan and mesopagan. Neopagans are a joke, indeed for reasons you've cited. Mesopagans are a bit more serious and at least try to practice these religions as the ancients did.
Regardless, the paganism we see today is evidence of a Western spiritual impoverishment brought on by atheism and wolves wearing sheep clothes within the Church at large.
