Before I address the nonsense I just read, I want to say that I just heard The Muslim Brotherhood -- yes, those guys -- are demonstrating with other Jordanians in Amman in favor of King Abdullah's escalation of the war on ISIS. This is, indeed, a turning point. ISIS could possibly be eradicated with this kind of approach.
Look, dude, I'm a 20-year combat veteran, a former combat helicopter pilot and unit commander. I know what I"m talking about. We are doing next to nothing. We have averaged 10 airstrikes a day in Syria. Sounds like a lot? It isn't. During the Gulf War '91 and '03, we ran well over a thousand sorties a day, with fighters alone, not counting Apache attacks. We're dropping millions of dollars of ordinance on sand. Not a lot of tactical value to sand. We've hit maybe 100 buildings, perhaps half of which we know beyond a reasonable doubt housed ISIS targets -- read: terrorists.
Our efforts have done nothing to deter ISIS. We don't need troops on the ground if we will just commit to arming and training moderate Mideast nations to do so, and give them proper air support with Apache platoons, Navy F-18s, and the Warthog -- which inexplicably the Pentagon wants to retire without providing a replacement.
You don't know squat. You parrot White House rose-colored-glasses news without the knowledge to read between the lines and understand that we are being useless at a cost of a couple hundred million per week. If we would actually commit to the fight without actually having to elevate our involvement, we could help the moderates defeat ISIS in a year. But our idiot commander-in-fear won't do it. So spare me your pontificating. You do not know what you're talking about.
