No doubt and now some military members are saying that his apology and new story about what happened is full of holes.....it seems that most news agencies like to (embellish) their stories and add little tidbits to make them more appealing to society....at the end of the day....RATINGS and I must say RATINGS!

What I don't understand is the brain fart it takes to be a public figure and lie knowing that the people really involved will hear about it. I mean I understand Joe Blow exaggerating conquests to his buddies at the bar about stuff..... but this is just dumb.

August 12, 1972: CBS correspondent who shall remain nameless to protect the stupid asks if he can go out with me "to see what has changed with combat operations ceased." I asked him what the h*** he thought we were going to be doing, snapping photos for the Army's war album? He said, "Well, I just thought we'd give Mom and Pop back home a view of the new look of the war." I told him it was going to look the same as it did yesterday, last month, last year, but he was welcome to come aboard. And oh, "By the way, where's your helmet and flak jacket?"
"Oh," he says, "There'll still be shooting?"
That's when I told him to get outta my sight and never darken by door of my bird again.

I haven't watched the nightly news since Tom Brokaw and there isn't a single network channel on my tv

His intent was to praise the troops' bravery. Ignoring his good intent occurs because everyone wants to frame him as "the liberal media".
I'm sure if I were doing a job in a war zone, in a helicopter, and heard radio traffic of a helicopter being shot, I might be fuzzy minded on the details too. He was trying to be a good guy and bring some praise to the brave soldiers.
Now for some Zzzzs.

It was the soldiers who were actually on that mission that brought this to light........as for foggy memory, one has to wonder how that can be claimed given the interview he did on Letterman years ago. Fairly detailed memories given in that interview. And, again, it is the soldiers who were actually on that mission that are disputing him. Their memory seems to be ok.
food for thought: If this were one of the FNC News Anchors, or Radio Hosts.........how much of a break would they be given?
