So I guess here are my thoughts (so far) on the matter.

1) LOVE IS ESSENTIAL
But don't neglect truth

2) treat them how you would want to be treated

3) it IS possible to love a gay person in todays society as a Christian

4) Did I mention that love was essential? :p

5) don't ditch them after witnessing. Commitment is key

6) be a friend.

Anyone have anything to add?

Good deduction from all the chaos :p I like this approach and agree.

thanks for making my point.....When you tell someone..."you are living in SIN.....they wont get that on the surface.....they wont get it by daddy being an evangelist either....he preached the word and the HOly Ghost showed up to the young man and convicted him, I bet if you happened to dig deeper you would find that young man also encountered God's love so powerfully during the message that also moved him....

I never said Gods love wasn't involved. Did I not say preach the truth is love or was that someone else talking out of my mouth? And what point are you making about "daddy being an evangelist"? Is that suppose to be mocking or what,I dont know.Of course the Holy Ghost convicts when the truth of the Word is preached. The whole reason Jesus came was to save from sin and die in our place.Yes,love love love love. But you need to preach the WORD the TRUTH and tell people they are LOST without God. What have you got against preaching against sin? How is that not love if you are sharing the Gospel with people? God is love, but He is also just and requires we repent of our sins.Of course he loves us.I dont see the point you're arguing here. What is wrong with saying sin is wrong? When Jesus spoke to the woman who had several husbands he pointed out her sin to her.She said later basically "come see this guy who knew everything about me" So if Jesus pointed out sin why should we not do the same? The disciples did,John the Baptist called the king out in public and said "and you!,you're sleeping with your brothers wife!" So why the aversion to mention sin? I dont get it.

I never said you did, but I can easily find out.

Are you a sinner?

Do you see yourself saved and heaven bound?

Do you see me saved with you?

Do you see the gay man saved with you?

That post about murder is for any hypocrite who claims he is a sinner who's saved, and yet other sinner is damned because his sin is something they wouldn't do.

I would love to get deeper into discussion on what God has given me but it's hard when 3000 years after Christ's death, we're still talking about sabbath vs Sunday and being gay.

Lets take care of the things we CAN first like world hunger and homelessness.

Hummmm, hummmm, this sounds like a song and dance I've heard before. Is this our old friend flaming spirit? Sure sounds like the same gobbelty gook to me.Anyone else having deja poo? ;)

Can we please get back on topic??? There have been some wonderful answers and some very nasty comments as well. So can we please get back on track and be nice???

Ok new question: why is being gay such a "big sin"? I know it is a sin but why does it seem that the gay community is suffering more than most other groups of sinners at the hand of other Christians. :-(

It is,or seems like such a big sin because gay people are pushing to be accepted,as they are,by everyone, especially Christians. They don't want to be told their lifestyle is wrong. They want marriage to be changed to suit their sin.Its not Christians picking on gay people.Gays have an agenda to be accepted in their sin.For those who want to argue that, first watch any sitcom, movie, magazine or anything to do with Hollywood and see how much gay acceptance is being pushed. That is why it seems like a big sin and is talked about more than others. The Bible says its a perversion and a sin against your own body.So yes, thats a big deal.

They don't flaunt it. They organize such parades to promote self worth. I'm sorry if repressed people finally entering he main picture seems "in your face"

Are you arguing,as a Christian that there is nothing wrong with being gay? Half dressed, basically nude people walking down the street is about self worth is it? mmm k Lets try this. Why dont we bring them to Christ,by showing them homosexuality is the wrong path and let Jesus take care of their self worth/repression issues? See how that works.

It's unnatural for a child to be born with one leg too.
Did not Jesus take away sin? Why continue to build upon what was destroyed?

No Jesus took away sin for those who believe on His name and repent of their sin and follow Him.Sin is still in the world, people are still sinful.

She wasn't sleeping around with every guy it doesn't seem like, and she was/is a child of Christ. She would have not gone to hell if she had died before she married the dude. It doesn't work like that. You guys are extreme on law huh? o_O
Where in the NT does it say if you continue in sin you'll still go to heaven?

It seems to me that in society today the Christian faith is becoming less and less acceptable whereas homosexuality is being promoted. Christian values of what marriage actually is (one man & one woman) are being redefined to suit the new worldly order which is all accepting and anything goes. It is becoming easier and easier to come out as gay but mention you have become born again and...wow!

Gay relationships are all over the TV these days and we are forced to watch kissing and innuendo. We cannot condemn it in the workforce even if we do it with love and from a Biblical perspective.

So yeah being a Christian seems to be frowned upon and we have few rights out in the big bad world but going against God's word would seem to be ok.

Yes as sinful was are more and more pushed each day and year in our country, the more we are starting to be put in the position of being in the wrong and even classified as domestic terrorists !!!

John the baptist was a domestic terrorist in his time too

All for pointing out Herods unacceptable (alternative lifestyle) or dare I say "sin" of having another mans wife (which just so happened to be his brothers wife).

You gotta be demonized.

Its only those who live godly (not ungodly) in Christ who will suffer persecution, just look who the dragon makes war with, same thing.
