The law you are required to keep is written on your mind and placed on your heart at the point of conversion. You do not need to read the literal words of the to know what the law is you are required to keep. It has to do with being born again of the Holy Spirit

So those who don't even know the law, feel the need to be freed from the guilt of breaking what they don't even know, and therefore accept Jesus. Then they instantly know what the law is and instinctively keep it, is that it? Is that your gospel?

I tell you the truth, there was a time when I knew not of God or His law, yet I was still convicted of sin. That conviction prepared my heart to accept Christ, and the salvation He has provided for those who have broken His law because this is necessary, quite obviously because the demands of that law are still in effect. If not, I need not have accepted Christ's salvation. Salvation from what?

There is no excuse for those who profess to be God's own, to not study and know His word and His law therefore also.

2Ti 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

That maybe the way you feel in your situation, but some people make so little of a salary that in order to be able to provide and feed their family they have to work Saturdays, 7 days a week, and even two or three jobs. The Lord is not going to hold that against a person, nor are you considered breaking the Sabbath if the reason is for Him in order to support your family.

That may be the way you feel, but it is not according to the word of God. Jesus plainly stated that those who follow him in this world will suffer for doing so. I make no salary at all, but am paid by the hour, and have been making less and less as the years go by. If you knew my financial situation, you would not have bothered saying what you have to me. There are sacrifices to be made in following Christ and His teachings. No true follower will escape this. Those who refuse to make sacrifices will eventually be led astray by this unwillingness. Of course if what you say is true, then there will be nothing wrong with worshipping the beast either when the time comes, because he won't allow you to buy or sell if you don't worship him. So I guess it will be OK for all to worship him as long as they are doing it to be able to support their families.

The law God requires you to keep is written on your mind and placed on your heart sat the point of conversion. You are looking to the words of the literal law written in pen and ink, and written on tablets of stone, however:
You yourselves are our letter, written on our hearts, known and read by everyone.[SUP]3 [/SUP]You show that you are a letter from Christ, the result of our ministry, written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of human hearts. 2Cor3:3

Yes, but that transference from stone to heart does not equal the breaking or ignoring of any of those commandments. To the contrary, the exact purpose is to more firmly establish the law in action rather than just words. This cannot be done by completely disregarding the actions specified in any of the commandments, including the fourth.

We are all sinners who break the law, unless you profess to be perfect in your flesh. As a Baptist minister of fifty years said to me. If we followed after the Holy Spirit every moment of ourt lives we would never sin, the reality of which escapes us all. I find it better to speak honestly than make bland statements

This is not the point and you know it. It is one thing to be a sinner, it is another to be a sinner because you straight up reject the authority of God's word and law. One can be justified and saved by faith, the other cannot.

No the word of God does support what I said as it clearly states that if you neglect to support your family then you are worse than an unbeliever;

1 Timothy 5:8
But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an unbeliever.

It is because Heaven does not hinge on observing the law sin shall not be a persons master, this is what you appear to find so hard to understand

Is 66:22 For as the new heavens and the new earth, which I will make, shall remain before me, saith the LORD, so shall your seed and your name remain. 23 And it shall come to pass, that from one new moon to another, and from one sabbath to another, shall all flesh come to worship before me, saith the LORD.

The commandments of God and His Sabbath existed before there ever was a sinner in this world, and will be observed in heaven where there are no sinners as well. This is what you do not seem to understand, we were saved from sin that we might become obedient, not in sin that the laws of God should change for us. They existed before us, and will exist long after us if we refuse their authority. We are in this mess in the first place because we refused the authority of God's word and listened to another. I guarantee you, no one will be in heaven who refused the authority of God's word or obviously therefore also His commands.

Yet you also believe Heaven hinges on observing the law, that is a contradiction

No contradiction, nor have I said what you continually accuse me of saying as above. Again and again and again, it is your own self imposed blindness and rejection of truth that forces you to continue to make this false accusations which you have no choice but to continue to fall back upon. You have rejected the truth, thus you are subjected to strong delusion of your own doing. No one can be saved by keeping the law, and no one has said anyone can. This is just what you must keep insisting because you are deceived. No one can be saved by keeping it, but many can and will be lost by ignoring it and therefore denying its authority as the word of God. This is the testimony of scripture over and over again which you continually ignore to your own detriment. You are not ignoring me, you are ignoring God's word. I am the least of youir problems.

many are still unrepentant sinners who always break the law and die for it. instead of becoming new creation in yahshua hamashiach, ekklesia, immersed in him, born again, with new life in him, living his way.

yes, no one can on their own in any way become new creation. see yahweh's word for his instructions, or seek yahweh himself.

HE promises those who seek him will find him. those who don't, those who just go on sinning without repenting, die in their sin for their own sin without redemption, having willfully rejected the one and only savior who could help them.

Good then, pit one scripture against another and worship the beast when he requires it. Then you will be able to take care of your family under his reign. Wow, all those silly Christians of the past who had families and suffered and died under persecution, and they didn't need to go through any of that. They could have done whatever was necessary to provide for their families, what a crying shame.

You CANNOT be convicted of sin without knowledge of God's laws, for sin is transgression of the law

Through the law we become conscious of sin Rom 3:20

Who has said the law written on the mind and placed on the heart of the believer can be ignored, or wilfully broken? No one that I know of in this debate. The law placed on the heart and written on the mind is the safety valve of grace, it stops the believer having a licence to sin

This does not pit scripture against itself, as the Lord showed clearly if a person has to eat then working on the Sabbath to get food to feed their family are innocent of breaking the Sabbath. Lord Jesus made this clear in Matthew 12:1-13, as doing good on the Sabbath is not breaking it, and working on the Sabbath in order to feed/support ones family is doing good. To not work and end up starving you and your family would not be doing good.......

everybody on earth is convicted and guilty of sin, and has no excuse. that is clearly written in the bible. read it sometime.

(except the remnant, who also once was under sin, like everyone else)

This is not the point and you know it. It is one thing to be a sinner, it is another to be a sinner because you straight up reject the authority of God's word and law. One can be justified and saved by faith, the other cannot.

The born again Christian cannot reject the law placed on their heart and written on their mind by the Spirit. If they commit wilful sin their conscience will tear them apart until they come before God and repent of their folly. This is the core of the new covenant.

Sir, you need to understand what it means to be born again of the Spirit

You yourselves are our letter, written on our hearts, known and read by everyone. [SUP]3 [/SUP]You show that you are a letter from Christ, the result of our ministry, written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of human hearts.
[SUP]4[/SUP]Such confidence we have through Christ before God. [SUP]5 [/SUP]Not that we are competent in ourselves to claim anything for ourselves, but our competence comes from God. [SUP]6 [/SUP]He has made us competent as ministers of a new covenant—not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.
[h=3]The Greater Glory of the New Covenant[/h][SUP]7 [/SUP]Now if the ministry that brought death, which was engraved in letters on stone, came with glory, so that the Israelites could not look steadily at the face of Moses because of its glory, transitory though it was, [SUP]8 [/SUP]will not the ministry of the Spirit be even more glorious? [SUP]9 [/SUP]If the ministry that brought condemnationwas glorious, how much more glorious is the ministry that brings righteousness! [SUP]10 [/SUP]For what was glorious has no glory now in comparison with the surpassing glory. [SUP]11 [/SUP]And if what was transitory came with glory, how much greater is the glory of that which lasts!

2Cor3:2-11

Colossians 1:21-23

And you, that were once alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now has He reconciled
In the body of His flesh through death, to present you holy, and blameless, and above reproach in His sight— if indeed you continue in the faith, grounded and steadfast, and are not moved away from the hope of the gospel which you heard, which was preached to every creature under heaven, of which I, Paul, became a minister.

Purposeful mis-representation.

Hebrews 4:11 Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief.

Hebrews 4:9 There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God.

It seems like you are close. Like you truly do understand but then purposefully twist scripture to fit into your works-based religion.

The promised land is yet to come. We get there by faith in our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ and not our work at the law.

Easy to say that but you can't prove it because the Text lines up with what I said.

The Author makes it undeniably clear that He says these things as a warning that we do not fall after the "same" Disobedience.

Heb 4:11 Therefore, let us do our best to enter that rest; so that no one will fall short because of the same kind of disobedience.

The author made it clear what disobedience they did which was The 7th day Sabbath. We can see this in exodus 16.

So if the Sabbath does not matter then why does the author use the Sabbath as the example?

There were many other things they disobeyed due to their lack of faith. what about, Idolatry, grumbling, etc.

But no He uses the Sabbath, simply because He knows the Sabbath is a mark of who we follow. He knows that the very test on the Sabbath that God gave Israel was also attached to the Judgement in the end time. He knew this because a pot of manna from that testing time was placed in the Most Holy Place where Judgement took place.

Exo 16:32 Moshe said, "Here is what ADONAI has ordered: 'Let two quarts of man be kept through all your generations, so that they will be able to see the bread which I fed you in the desert when I brought you out of Egypt.'"
Exo 16:33 Moshe said to Aharon, "Take a jar, put in it two quarts of man, and set it aside before ADONAI to be kept through all your generations."
Exo 16:34 Just as ADONAI ordered Moshe, Aharon set it aside before the testimony to be kept.

and Again here:

Heb 9:3 Behind the second parokhet was a tent called the Holiest Place,
Heb 9:4 which had the golden altar for burning incense and the Ark of the Covenant, entirely covered with gold. In the Ark were the gold jar containing the man, Aharon's rod that sprouted and the stone Tablets of the Covenant;

Thus it is written:

Deu 8:2 You are to remember everything of the way in which ADONAI led you these forty years in the desert, humbling and testing you in order to know what was in your heart - whether you would obey his mitzvot or not.
Deu 8:3 He humbled you, allowing you to become hungry, and then fed you with man, which neither you nor your ancestors had ever known, to make you understand that a person does not live on food alone but on everything that comes from the mouth of ADONAI.

what were the words that came from the mouth of God?

Exo 20:1 Then God said all these words: .....

follows the 10 commandments.

what word particular was connected God testing if they would obey Him and went for forty years?

Exo 16:4 ADONAI said to Moshe, "Here, I will cause bread to rain down from heaven for you. The people are to go out and gather a day's ration every day. By this I will test whether they will observe my Torah or not.

and what "word" was the test to see if they would keep the law?

Exo 16:23 He told them, "This is what ADONAI has said: 'Tomorrow is a holy Shabbat for ADONAI. Bake what you want to bake; boil what you want to boil; and whatever is left over, set aside and keep for the morning.'"
Exo 16:24 They set it aside till morning, as Moshe had ordered; and it didn't rot or have worms.
Exo 16:25 Moshe said, "Today, eat that; because today is a Shabbat for ADONAI - today you won't find it in the field.
Exo 16:26 Gather it six days, but the seventh day is the Shabbat - on that day there won't be any."

Sabbath.

how long did it go for?

Exo 16:35 The people of Isra'el ate man for forty years, until they came to an inhabited land. They ate man until they arrived at the borders of the land of Kena'an.

40 years until when?

Yes they came to Canaan.

Is Hebrews about going to the promised land?

Heb 3:17 And with whom was God disgusted for forty years? Those who sinned - yes, they fell dead in the Wilderness!
Heb 3:18 And to whom was it that he swore that they would not enter his rest? Those who were disobedient.
Heb 3:19 So we see that they were unable to enter because of lack of trust.

Yes,

Does Hebrews connect the 7th day Sabbath one of Gods Words to this failure to enter?

Heb 4:4 For there is a place where it is said, concerning the seventh day, "And God rested on the seventh day from all his works."
Heb 4:5 And once more, our present text says, "They will not enter my rest."

Yes indeed the author does connect just as the Old testament does. by the way, notice that He connects the 7th day Sabbath with, "they will not enter my rest"/Canaan.

So very clearly the issue for Israel is clear but then as said we are told not to disobey in lack of faith as they did who were unable to enter.

In other words if we do the same as they then we also will not enter into the Heavenly Canaan.

So what is it that we must learn then?

Heb 4:9 So there remains a Shabbat-keeping for God's people.
Heb 4:10 For the one who has entered God's rest has also rested from his own works, as God did from his.

Really the Sabbath, the Author gives the same test as Israel had. to enter by faith the 7th day Sabbath. note also, as much as you like to call it works you are wrong.

case in point. Does the author make it clear that Israel was to keep the 7th day Sabbath and it was because they did not that they did not enter Cannan?

Yes that is well established.

Did the author also establish that it was because they did not work that they did not enter?

Heb 4:1 Therefore, let us be terrified of the possibility that, even though the promise of entering his rest remains, any one of you might be judged to have fallen short of it;
Heb 4:2 for Good News has also been proclaimed to us, just as it was to them. But the message they heard didn't do them any good, because those who heard it did not combine it with trust.

No, clearly it is stated their lack of faith was why they did not enter. So very clearly them not keeping the 7th day Sabbath as they aught was a lack of faith. and thus their works also lacked/obedience.

So it is clear that to argue works is silly, one can enter the 7th day Sabbath physically by faith. Faith in God, Faith in His mark. Faith in his providing for our needs. Faith in His ability to make us Holy.

Therefore it is also true then today that to keep the 7th day Sabbath is an issue of faith. works are simply the fruit of that Faith.

to not keep the 7th day Sabbath is to have no faith, as it is written:

Jas 2:18 But someone will say that you have faith and I have actions. Show me this faith of yours without the actions, and I will show you my faith by my actions!
Jas 2:19 You believe that "God is one"? Good for you! The demons believe it too - the thought makes them shudder with fear!
Jas 2:20 But, foolish fellow, do you want to be shown that such "faith" apart from actions is barren?

The text is clear friend but only when you have been to the tutor/schoolmaster.

It seems to me that there is a fundamental lack of understanding on works and faith.

If you think that Israel was ever saved by works then you do not know the law. but sufficient is this:

Rom 9:31 However, Isra'el, even though they kept pursuing a Torah that offers righteousness, did not reach what the Torah offers.
Rom 9:32 Why? Because they did not pursue righteousness as being grounded in trusting but as if it were grounded in doing legalistic works. They stumbled over the stone that makes people stumble.i

notice the issue and the reason why Israel failed is because they tried to be righteous by works and not faith.

But in Hebrews the reason they did not enter Canaan was because of their lack of faith as is written:

Heb 3:19 So we see that they were unable to enter because of lack of trust.

For God says the same thing:

Deu 32:20 And he said, I will hide my face from them, I will see what their end shall be: for they are a very froward generation, children in whom is no faith.

So the issue was faith even back then. now not that the issue was faith yet they were asked by God to keep the 10 commandments, feasts ceremonies etc.

So what was the issue then, clearly for both to be true.

1. the reason they did not enter was because of lack of faith.
2. they were expected to keep the law.

For both to be true then keeping the law is an issue of faith and not of works. works are but the expression/fruit of faith.

as it is written:

Heb 4:2 For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it.

notice they had the "same" Gospel preached to them. So the message to Israel was the same message to us.

We enter by Faith, they were to enter by faith. but as it is written again:

Rom 9:32 Wherefore? Because they sought it not by faith, but as it were by the works of the law. For they stumbled at that stumblingstone;

Their problem was not keeping the law but rather how they kept it. they tried to work their way instead of faith in God.

Only by faith can one actually keep the law. that is why they failed. they tried to keep it but could not.

but the Gentiles enter by faith as was seen in the texts above and is explained here:

Rom 2:14 For whenever Gentiles, who have no Torah, do naturally what the Torah requires, then these, even though they don't have Torah, for themselves are Torah!
Rom 2:15 For their lives show that the conduct the Torah dictates is written in their hearts. c Their consciences also bear witness to this, for their conflicting thoughts sometimes accuse them and sometimes defend them

notice the Gentiles who do not have the law. This does not mean they do not know the law, but the law was given to the Jewish nation. yet those same Gentiles naturally keep the law are themselves become law. their lives "show" the conduct of the law written on their hearts.

in other words they keep the law because the law is on their hearts not on stone. as it is written:

2Co 3:3 You make it clear that you are a letter from the Messiah placed in our care, written not with ink but by the Spirit of the living God, not on stone tablets but on human hearts.

and this is seen in the life. If you have do not kill written on your heart then you will not kill, etc.

Faith then is the only way to keep the law as it was the same expectation for Israel so it is for us.

And do not think they could not keep it, they could if they had Faith they failed because of lack of faith as it is written:

Deu 30:11 For this commandment which I command thee this day, it is not hidden from thee, neither is it far off.
Deu 30:12 It is not in heaven, that thou shouldest say, Who shall go up for us to heaven, and bring it unto us, that we may hear it, and do it?
Deu 30:13 Neither is it beyond the sea, that thou shouldest say, Who shall go over the sea for us, and bring it unto us, that we may hear it, and do it?
Deu 30:14 But the word is very nigh unto thee, in thy mouth, and in thy heart, that thou mayest do it.

notice God said it is not too hard for them, they are able, so why then did they fail? as it is written they did not seek it by faith but by works. notice in this text also "and in thy heart" that they may do it.

Is this not why the Gentiles made it, they by faith allowed the law to be written on their hearts? Yes indeed.

So it is clear that Actually keeping the law is a requirement for Gods people but only can be done if written in the heart by faith. same then same today.

SO to say that keeping any part of the law including the Sabbath is works is only true of them who have not faith.

but those who do so in faith are a law unto themselves showing the law written on their hearts.

Pints.

1. Israel was expected by God to keep the law and it was within their grasp to do so if they did so by faith written on their hearts.

2. they only failed because they did not have faith but tired to simply work their way to the goal.

3. the same gospel that we have today is the same Gospel that was preached to them.

4. We too must keep the law but again it can only be done by faith and written on the heart, same as them.

5. Faith is not without works, if you keep the law by faith it will be seen in your actions that includes the Sabbath as Hebrews brings out. so does Isaiah 56.
