Purposeful mis-representation.
Hebrews 4:11 Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief.
Hebrews 4:9 There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God.
It seems like you are close. Like you truly do understand but then purposefully twist scripture to fit into your works-based religion.
The promised land is yet to come. We get there by faith in our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ and not our work at the law.
Easy to say that but you can't prove it because the Text lines up with what I said.
The Author makes it undeniably clear that He says these things as a warning that we do not fall after the "same" Disobedience.
Heb 4:11 Therefore, let us do our best to enter that rest; so that no one will fall short because of the same kind of disobedience.
The author made it clear what disobedience they did which was The 7th day Sabbath. We can see this in exodus 16.
So if the Sabbath does not matter then why does the author use the Sabbath as the example?
There were many other things they disobeyed due to their lack of faith. what about, Idolatry, grumbling, etc.
But no He uses the Sabbath, simply because He knows the Sabbath is a mark of who we follow. He knows that the very test on the Sabbath that God gave Israel was also attached to the Judgement in the end time. He knew this because a pot of manna from that testing time was placed in the Most Holy Place where Judgement took place.
Exo 16:32 Moshe said, "Here is what ADONAI has ordered: 'Let two quarts of man be kept through all your generations, so that they will be able to see the bread which I fed you in the desert when I brought you out of Egypt.'"
Exo 16:33 Moshe said to Aharon, "Take a jar, put in it two quarts of man, and set it aside before ADONAI to be kept through all your generations."
Exo 16:34 Just as ADONAI ordered Moshe, Aharon set it aside before the testimony to be kept.
and Again here:
Heb 9:3 Behind the second parokhet was a tent called the Holiest Place,
Heb 9:4 which had the golden altar for burning incense and the Ark of the Covenant, entirely covered with gold. In the Ark were the gold jar containing the man, Aharon's rod that sprouted and the stone Tablets of the Covenant;
Thus it is written:
Deu 8:2 You are to remember everything of the way in which ADONAI led you these forty years in the desert, humbling and testing you in order to know what was in your heart - whether you would obey his mitzvot or not.
Deu 8:3 He humbled you, allowing you to become hungry, and then fed you with man, which neither you nor your ancestors had ever known, to make you understand that a person does not live on food alone but on everything that comes from the mouth of ADONAI.
what were the words that came from the mouth of God?
Exo 20:1 Then God said all these words: .....
follows the 10 commandments.
what word particular was connected God testing if they would obey Him and went for forty years?
Exo 16:4 ADONAI said to Moshe, "Here, I will cause bread to rain down from heaven for you. The people are to go out and gather a day's ration every day. By this I will test whether they will observe my Torah or not.
and what "word" was the test to see if they would keep the law?
Exo 16:23 He told them, "This is what ADONAI has said: 'Tomorrow is a holy Shabbat for ADONAI. Bake what you want to bake; boil what you want to boil; and whatever is left over, set aside and keep for the morning.'"
Exo 16:24 They set it aside till morning, as Moshe had ordered; and it didn't rot or have worms.
Exo 16:25 Moshe said, "Today, eat that; because today is a Shabbat for ADONAI - today you won't find it in the field.
Exo 16:26 Gather it six days, but the seventh day is the Shabbat - on that day there won't be any."
Sabbath.
how long did it go for?
Exo 16:35 The people of Isra'el ate man for forty years, until they came to an inhabited land. They ate man until they arrived at the borders of the land of Kena'an.
40 years until when?
Yes they came to Canaan.
Is Hebrews about going to the promised land?
Heb 3:17 And with whom was God disgusted for forty years? Those who sinned - yes, they fell dead in the Wilderness!
Heb 3:18 And to whom was it that he swore that they would not enter his rest? Those who were disobedient.
Heb 3:19 So we see that they were unable to enter because of lack of trust.
Yes,
Does Hebrews connect the 7th day Sabbath one of Gods Words to this failure to enter?
Heb 4:4 For there is a place where it is said, concerning the seventh day, "And God rested on the seventh day from all his works."
Heb 4:5 And once more, our present text says, "They will not enter my rest."
Yes indeed the author does connect just as the Old testament does. by the way, notice that He connects the 7th day Sabbath with, "they will not enter my rest"/Canaan.
So very clearly the issue for Israel is clear but then as said we are told not to disobey in lack of faith as they did who were unable to enter.
In other words if we do the same as they then we also will not enter into the Heavenly Canaan.
So what is it that we must learn then?
Heb 4:9 So there remains a Shabbat-keeping for God's people.
Heb 4:10 For the one who has entered God's rest has also rested from his own works, as God did from his.
Really the Sabbath, the Author gives the same test as Israel had. to enter by faith the 7th day Sabbath. note also, as much as you like to call it works you are wrong.
case in point. Does the author make it clear that Israel was to keep the 7th day Sabbath and it was because they did not that they did not enter Cannan?
Yes that is well established.
Did the author also establish that it was because they did not work that they did not enter?
Heb 4:1 Therefore, let us be terrified of the possibility that, even though the promise of entering his rest remains, any one of you might be judged to have fallen short of it;
Heb 4:2 for Good News has also been proclaimed to us, just as it was to them. But the message they heard didn't do them any good, because those who heard it did not combine it with trust.
No, clearly it is stated their lack of faith was why they did not enter. So very clearly them not keeping the 7th day Sabbath as they aught was a lack of faith. and thus their works also lacked/obedience.
So it is clear that to argue works is silly, one can enter the 7th day Sabbath physically by faith. Faith in God, Faith in His mark. Faith in his providing for our needs. Faith in His ability to make us Holy.
Therefore it is also true then today that to keep the 7th day Sabbath is an issue of faith. works are simply the fruit of that Faith.
to not keep the 7th day Sabbath is to have no faith, as it is written:
Jas 2:18 But someone will say that you have faith and I have actions. Show me this faith of yours without the actions, and I will show you my faith by my actions!
Jas 2:19 You believe that "God is one"? Good for you! The demons believe it too - the thought makes them shudder with fear!
Jas 2:20 But, foolish fellow, do you want to be shown that such "faith" apart from actions is barren?
The text is clear friend but only when you have been to the tutor/schoolmaster.
