I am sure the people in this debate who stress the literal letter of the law must be obeyed, would want to emphasise obedience comes from faith(Rom 1:5) faith given as a free gift so that no one can boast. Apart from Jesus they cannot do a thing(John 15:5) They are brought to live evermore Holy lives by the Sanctification of the Holy Spirit (Rom 15:16) as they look to their saviour and trust him. And they would want God to have all the glory for all the victory over sin seen in their lives, they would not want to take any of the credit themselves.

The life I live now in the body I live by faith in the son of God who loved me and gave himself for me. Gal2:20

Whoever speaks on their own does so to gain personal glory, but he who seeks the glory of the one who sent him is a man of truth; there is nothing false about him John 7:18

Why don't those who believe the seventh day Sabbath was abolished simply post the scriptures that SAY that the seventh day Sabbath was abolished.

That would put an end to the argument.

Love = Righteousness

Sin = Unrighteousness

Repentance, baptism, forgiveness, confession, mercy, obedience, helpful, courteous, uplifting are all works of righteousness......Which means they are all works of love.

All forms of sins rather it be lying, stealing, adultery, hateful language, and so on....is works of unrighteousness, which is also what is called works of the flesh. And no works of the flesh lead to eternal life !!!

So if you love like the bible commands you wont go around lying :)

2Jn 1:5 And now I beseech thee, lady, not as though I wrote a new commandment unto thee, but that which we had from the beginning, that we love one another.
2Jn 1:6 And this is love, that we walk after his commandments. This is the commandment, That, as ye have heard from the beginning, ye should walk in it.

1Jn 5:2 By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments.
1Jn 5:3 For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.

1Jn 2:3 And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments.
1Jn 2:4 He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.
1Jn 2:5 But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him.
1Jn 2:6 He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.

Jas 2:8 If ye fulfil the royal law according to the scripture, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself, ye do well:
Jas 2:9 But if ye have respect to persons, ye commit sin, and are convinced of the law as transgressors.
Jas 2:10 For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.
Jas 2:11 For he that said, Do not commit adultery, said also, Do not kill. Now if thou commit no adultery, yet if thou kill, thou art become a transgressor of the law.
Jas 2:12 So speak ye, and so do, as they that shall be judged by the law of liberty.

James is clear that to fulfill love thy neighbor is to keep the laws concerning our neighbor.

and so on and so on.

Right ALL THE LAW is fulfilled in one word...he who loves HAS FULFILLED the law!

How bout we obey the bible and love and then love fulfills every commandment of God. simple :)

Who Changed the Sabbath to Sunday - Sabbath to Sunday Change

Acts 5:29 “Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men.”
(Peter and the other apostles and all the ekklesia in the NT all observed what God commanded, not what man later changed)

so, when was the sabbath changed ?

from the lengthy study in the link above >>>

“Perhaps the boldest thing, the most revolutionary change the Church ever did, happened in the first century. The holy day, the Sabbath, was changed from Saturday to Sunday. ‘The day of the Lord' was chosen, not from any direction noted in the Scriptures, but from the (Catholic) Church's sense of its own power…People who think that the Scriptures should be the sole authority, should logically become 7th Day Adventists, and keep Saturday holy.” — St. Catherine Church Sentinel, Algonac, Michigan, May 21, 1995.

“Question - Which is the Sabbath day?
“Answer - Saturday is the Sabbath day.
“Question - Why do we observe Sunday instead of Saturday?
“Answer - We observe Sunday instead of Saturday because the Catholic Church, in the Council of Laodicea (A.D. 364), transferred the solemnity from Saturday to Sunday.” — Peter Geiermann, C.S.S.R., The Convert's Catechism of Catholic Doctrine, p. 50, 3rd edition, 1957.

How about you show me where the Sabbath is abolished?

Colossians 2:8 See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the elemental spiritual forces of this world rather than on Christ.
9 For in Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form, 10 and in Christ you have been brought to fullness. He is the head over every power and authority. 11 In him you were also circumcised with a circumcision not performed by human hands. Your whole self ruled by the flesh was put off when you were circumcised by Christ, 12 having been buried with him in baptism, in which you were also raised with him through your faith in the working of God, who raised him from the dead.

13 When you were dead in your sins and in the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made you alive with Christ. He forgave us all our sins, 14 having canceled the charge of our legal indebtedness, which stood against us and condemned us; he has taken it away, nailing it to the cross. 15 And having disarmed the powers and authorities, he made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross. 16 Therefore do not let anyone judge you by what you eat or drink, or with regard to a religious festival, a New Moon celebration or a Sabbath day. 17 These are a shadow of the things that were to come; the reality, however, is found in Christ.

Paul was saying that we shouldn't let anyone try to judge us if we doesn't practice the law, for the laws were made for someone to complete them, and someone has completed them. As one man has made us all to be consider as sinners, and now it has taken one man to show that we are not all sinners, the only ones that believes in Him. I believe that the people that were in those days were incapable of forgiving others, until God has given them His spirit, to make them complete, fullness. But the ones that hasn't accepted His spirit are incapable of showing love.

Col 2:8 Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.

So, the words that came directly out of Christ's mouth...

Exo 20:1 And God spake all these words, saying,

Exo 20:8 Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.

Are traditions of men and rudiments of the world?

C'mon man, if anything this passage establishes the Sabbath. It says don't let any one judge you for keeping it.

Show me where the Sabbath was abolished.

P.S. What translation is this? It does an excellent job on verse 14. Here is an interesting explanation of verse 14...

[SIZE=+1]What Does Colossians 2:14 Really Say?[/SIZE]
It is of interest to note that the expression "the handwriting of requirements" is a Greek legal term that signifies the penalty which a lawbreaker had to pay--through Jesus the penalty was wiped out ("the handwriting of requirements"), not the law! "This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, says the LORD: I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds I will write them" (Heb 10:16).
Even Protestant commentators realize this. Notice what Matthew Henry's Commentary on the Whole Bible states about Colossians 2:14:
Whatever was in force against us is taken out of the way. He has obtained for us a legal discharge from the hand-writing of ordinances, which was against us (v. 14), which may be understood,
1. Of that obligation to punishment in which consists the guilt of sin. The curse of the law is the hand-writing against us, like the hand-writing on Belshazzar's wall. Cursed is every one who continues not in every thing. This was a hand-writing which was against us, and contrary to us; for it threatened our eternal ruin. This was removed when he redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us, Gal 3:13. (from Matthew Henry's Commentary on the Whole Bible: New Modern Edition, Electronic Database. Copyright (c) 1991 by Hendrickson Publishers, Inc.).
Some will argue that you still cannot keep the ten commandments (for "all have sinned"), even if they are all mentioned as being in effect after the crucifixion. Does this mean one should not try?
Furthermore, let's look at another translation:
14 having canceled out the certificate of debt consisting of decrees against us, which was hostile to us; and He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross (Colossians 2:14, NASB)
The handwriting of requirements (often also called the hand-writing of ordinances) or certificate of debt was wiped away and nailed to the cross.
Which requirements were wiped out?
Please understand that the expression "the handwriting of requirements" (cheirógrafon toís dógmasin) is a Greek legal expression that signifies the penalty which a lawbreaker had to pay--it does not signify the laws that are to be obeyed--only the penalty. It is only through the acceptance of the sacrifice of Jesus Christ that the penalty was wiped out ("the handwriting of requirements"). But only the penalty, not the law! - Dr. Robert Thiel

It wasn't abolished. It was a shadow. Part of the tutor that brings us to Christ.

Colossians 2:16-17
[SUP]16 [/SUP]Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days:
[SUP]17 [/SUP]Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ.

Hebrews 4:10-11

[SUP]10 [/SUP]For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his.
[SUP]11 [/SUP]Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief.

So is practicing keeping a 7th day rest this labour that is required to try and cease from our work? No, its not.

Galatians 3:10-12

[SUP]10 [/SUP]For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: for it is written, Cursed is every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them.
[SUP]11 [/SUP]But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith.
[SUP]12 [/SUP]And the law is not of faith: but, The man that doeth them shall live in them.

We are practicing living by faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. We don't go back to the carnal commandment to try and fulfill it ourselves, that is not faith.

Our goal is to be perfect as Christ is perfect. We need supernatural help for that. Our carnal will and strength are useless in this endeavor.

Romans 10:4 For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth.

Romans 10:4 For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth.

Aw c'mon, Rom 10:4 AGAIN?

Romans 10:4 says no such thing. Here is what it says...

Rom 10:4 For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth.

The word for "end" here is...

G5056
τέλος
telos
tel'-os
From a primary word τέλλω tellō (to set out for a definite point or goal); properly the point aimed at as a limit, that is, (by implication) the conclusion of an act or state (termination [literally, figuratively or indefinitely], result [immediate, ultimate or prophetic], purpose); specifically an impost or levy (as paid): - + continual, custom, end (-ing), finally, uttermost. Compare G5411.

It means outcome or point aimed at. This word, G5056 τέλος, is used other places in the N.T., let's look at them...

1Pe 1:9 Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls.

Yep, G5056 τέλος is the word used here for end. So, is your faith obliterated? Done away with? Brought to an end? or is it brought to an outcome of salvation?

Jas 5:11 Behold, we count them happy which endure. Ye have heard of the patience of Job, and have seen the end of the Lord; that the Lord is very pitiful, and of tender mercy.

Same word, G5056 τέλος, for end here. Is this the obliteration of the Lord? The doing away with Him? The use of the word is determined by context. Let's see how a few other translations render it...

New International Version:
Christ is the culmination of the law so that there may be righteousness for everyone who believes.

International Standard Version:
For the Messiah is the culmination of the Law as far as righteousness is concerned for everyone who believes

Aramaic Bible in Plain English:
For The Messiah is the consummation of The Written Law for righteousness to everyone who believes.

The sense of it is the end result, not the obliteration.

Rom 2:13 (for not the hearers of the law are just in the sight of God, but the doers of the law will be justified;

I wish I had a nickel for every time someone has misused Rom 10:4

Right ALL THE LAW is fulfilled in one word...he who loves HAS FULFILLED the law!

Galatians 5:22-23
[SUP]22 [/SUP]But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
[SUP]23 [/SUP]Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

What about the 7th day? Even that is not against these fruit? How can that possibly be?

1 Timothy 1:5-6

[SUP]5 [/SUP]Now the end of the commandment is charity out of a pure heart, and of a good conscience, and of faith unfeigned:
[SUP]6 [/SUP]From which some having swerved have turned aside unto vain jangling;

It looks like the goal of the commandments is the fruit of the Spirit.

Matthew 5 the Lord Jesus magnifies the Law and shows that it is our thoughts and emotions that cause us to fail. But He doesn't mention the sabbath at all. The Lord was showing us how to be Perfect like our Father in Heaven is Perfect. How come no mention of keeping a 7th day holy?

How come Paul doesn't say "except the 7th day sabbath" when he talks about the letter of the law kills? How come he doesnt say "except the 7th day sabbath" when he talks about the ministry of Condemnation and Death written on stones? How come they didn't say "except the 7th day sabbath" when they were deciding in Acts 15?

Because the 7th day sabbath is a shadow of what Christ has and does accomplish for us.

John 5:15-40
[SUP]15 [/SUP]The man departed, and told the Jews that it was Jesus, which had made him whole.
[SUP]16 [/SUP]And therefore did the Jews persecute Jesus, and sought to slay him, because he had done these things on the sabbath day.
[SUP]17 [/SUP]But Jesus answered them, My Father worketh hitherto, and I work.
[SUP]18 [/SUP]Therefore the Jews sought the more to kill him, because he not only had broken the sabbath, but said also that God was his Father, making himself equal with God.
[SUP]19 [/SUP]Then answered Jesus and said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, The Son can do nothing of himself, but what he seeth the Father do: for what things soever he doeth, these also doeth the Son likewise.
[SUP]20 [/SUP]For the Father loveth the Son, and sheweth him all things that himself doeth: and he will shew him greater works than these, that ye may marvel.
[SUP]21 [/SUP]For as the Father raiseth up the dead, and quickeneth them; even so the Son quickeneth whom he will.
[SUP]22 [/SUP]For the Father judgeth no man, but hath committed all judgment unto the Son:
[SUP]23 [/SUP]That all men should honour the Son, even as they honour the Father. He that honoureth not the Son honoureth not the Father which hath sent him.
[SUP]24 [/SUP]Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.
[SUP]25 [/SUP]Verily, verily, I say unto you, The hour is coming, and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God: and they that hear shall live.
[SUP]26 [/SUP]For as the Father hath life in himself; so hath he given to the Son to have life in himself;
[SUP]27 [/SUP]And hath given him authority to execute judgment also, because he is the Son of man.
[SUP]28 [/SUP]Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice,
[SUP]29 [/SUP]And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation.
[SUP]30 [/SUP]I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me.
[SUP]31 [/SUP]If I bear witness of myself, my witness is not true.
[SUP]32 [/SUP]There is another that beareth witness of me; and I know that the witness which he witnesseth of me is true.
[SUP]33 [/SUP]Ye sent unto John, and he bare witness unto the truth.
[SUP]34 [/SUP]But I receive not testimony from man: but these things I say, that ye might be saved.
[SUP]35 [/SUP]He was a burning and a shining light: and ye were willing for a season to rejoice in his light.
[SUP]36 [/SUP]But I have greater witness than that of John: for the works which the Father hath given me to finish, the same works that I do, bear witness of me, that the Father hath sent me.
[SUP]37 [/SUP]And the Father himself, which hath sent me, hath borne witness of me. Ye have neither heard his voice at any time, nor seen his shape.
[SUP]38 [/SUP]And ye have not his word abiding in you: for whom he hath sent, him ye believe not.
[SUP]39 [/SUP]Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.
[SUP]40 [/SUP]And ye will not come to me, that ye might have life.

Matthew 11:28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
Hebrews 4:10 For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his.

Ephesians 2:8-9
[SUP]8 [/SUP]For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
[SUP]9 [/SUP]Not of works, lest any man should boast.

Please show me a scripture that says, the Sabbath is abolished.

Its not abolished. Its fulfilled. But you have to come to Christ to find out.

2 Corinthians 3:13-17
[SUP]13 [/SUP]And not as Moses, which put a veil over his face, that the children of Israel could not stedfastly look to the end of that which is abolished:
[SUP]14 [/SUP]But their minds were blinded: for until this day remaineth the same vail untaken away in the reading of the old testament; which vail is done away in Christ.
[SUP]15 [/SUP]But even unto this day, when Moses is read, the vail is upon their heart.
[SUP]16 [/SUP]Nevertheless when it shall turn to the Lord, the vail shall be taken away.
[SUP]17 [/SUP]Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.

Hebrews 7:15-19

[SUP]15 [/SUP]And it is yet far more evident: for that after the similitude of Melchisedec there ariseth another priest,
[SUP]16 [/SUP]Who is made, not after the law of a carnal commandment, but after the power of an endless life.
[SUP]17 [/SUP]For he testifieth, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec.
[SUP]18 [/SUP]For there is verily a disannulling of the commandment going before for the weakness and unprofitableness thereof.
[SUP]19 [/SUP]For the law made nothing perfect, but the bringing in of a better hope did; by the which we draw nigh unto God.

Was the Sabbath (7th day) abolished?

Please post scriptures showing the seventh day Sabbath was abolished.

Just for you Grandpa, what does fulfilled mean? If it is fulfilled, should we still keep it?
