I'm still unsure, and will never take part of it or vote for it.
I'm just presenting you with what the bible says. Take it or leave it. You aren't going to go to hell just because you don't support capital punishment, lol.

Ya, I just have a hard time understanding if that applies to us right now. Yes, true so its not that important.

It is a very controversial topic, I personally agree with it on certian cases. I don't exect everyone to agree with me though.

MATTHEW 5:17-18

I think Jesus wants us to forgive the murderers and follow the law of God.
"By man shall his blood be shed;"

see also 1 PETER 2:13-14 and ROMANS 13: 3-4

This is a tough question. By the old covenant I would agree, but since we are under new covenant I don't think we should. I agree on rapists being castrated. I won't even start on my rant about child abuse. God already made it clear about his view on child abuse also. I don't think it's our place to take someone's life for wrong doing. We all make mistakes even if some are greater. I believe they should be locked up for life.
You have some funny views, you know.

1. You disagree with capital punishment.

Okay so far

2. You agree with corporal punishment for certain criminals, and not just any corporal punishment, but specifically one that causes grave and permanent damage to the body.

Odd, but even more so when:

3. Elsewhere you have condemned the use of corporal punishment, even smacking children, as always wrong.

A little inconsistent?

1. Yes
2. When did I say anything about corporal punishment for criminals?
3. Yes, I have. this goes back to two.

that isn't corpal punishment. Rape is the WORST thing a human can do to another. Hitting a child or anyone else is totally different.

Yes it is. Corporal punishment entails the infliction of physical pain or physical injury. You are condemning mild forms used in child discipline, but promoting serious forms such as bodily mutilation for certain criminals.

Rape is the WORST thing a human can do to another.
What has this to do with corporal punishment? But anyway, rape is not the worst thing a human can do to another; taking their life is (probably why you oppose capital punishment, no?).

Okay my bad I take back my statement about castrating people who rape other people. I was talking about why I wouldn't mind castrating rapist. Rape is the worse thing. Taking someone's life the person is dead. RApe a person has to live with that guilt for ever it NEVER goes away, ever. NO, that is not why. I just don't like the idea of people playing God.

I understand what you mean though about the executioners. But someone's gotta do it. Why should I pay for that person to sit in jail, when they do deserve death.

That's exactly right. We shouldn't have to pay for it - its a rip-off. I made a thread about this exact point.

Jail is inefficient and ineffective.

I don't personally agree with capital punishment. I think it's motivated more by a desire for revenge and retribution than it is by what is actually necessary. The justice system isn't a tool to make wrongdoers suffer or to make the family of a victim feel vindicated. It's there to remove dangerous individuals from society in order to protect the rights and freedoms of others. Once they are locked away, that duty is fulfilled. There is no logical reason to kill them. It doesn't make society any safer, nor does it save tax payers any money. It doesn't matter what we feel they "deserve".

Not that I advocate killing prisoners....but it would save taxpayers money. That's why I think they should be working 18 hour days, so society can extract value from them instead of paying the bill for their "rehabilitation".

Capital punishment is more expensive than life in jail. Not the killing itself, but the cost of appeals and other court procedures.
