Republican FCC Member Warns Net Neutrality Is Not Neutral - Breitbart

Ajit Pai, one of two Republican Commissioners on the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), inferred that President Barack Obama’s secret, 332-page “Net Neutrality” document is a scheme for federal micro-managing of the Internet to extract billions in new taxes from consumers and enforce progressive ideology on all Americans.

This shouldn't be a surprise to anyone. The millennial geeks wanted Obama to do this six years ago when he was first elected. Be careful what you ask for.

Far as I'm aware net neutrality is about making the internet a universal utility. It means ISP's can't give special higher speeds to companies that pay for it, as opposed to other, less well-funded companies or private consumers. It's based on the idea that all people who pay for internet access should be charged fairly and equally.

Netflix, as I remember, had problems when some ISP's slowed the speed of private consumer access to their website in order to try to force Netflix into paying higher fees (the logic being they have higher traffic). This is an example of net-bias. Net neutrality laws are about making such practices by ISP's illegal.

I think it's a great idea.

It is a problem that companies are throttling, blocking, and limiting access to the Internet.
I was originally all for Net Neutrality when it was just "Save The Internet" and e-mail the FCC your concerns, however I'm strongly opposed to this plan.

Reclassifying the Internet as a public utility as dictated by Obama can only mean trouble. Especially considering they won't even release the draft... one of those "Let's just pass it and see what's in it" things again. -_-

I cringe anytime any of these parties acts like they're acting in our interest. When I hear Republicans talk of keeping government hands off in the name of "freedom" I know their intent is to favor corporations so much that everyone gets taken advantage of. When Democrats talk of making everything fair I know their intent is to grab power and run our lives.
