I watch this movie called King of Kings on tct (I think it was tct) and in the scene after peter denies Jesus, the actor playing Jesus gave peter this penetrating gaze at him. It was like he was looking right into my soul and I felt like I couldn't move. I kinda think it would feel like that if I were Peter's shoes. Then I started wondering if Jesus was black, or if he had blue or brown eyes. What do you guys think he looks like?

it is unlikely that he was black, unless Mary was, which I doubt
Also, he wasn't terribly tall as he didn't stand out in a crowd

At least I´m sure he wasn´t blond with blue eyes... Ruth wasn´t that way but He wasn´t ugly...

These gave not an exact clue:

Isa 52:13 Behold, my servant shall act wisely; he shall be high and lifted up, and shall be exalted. Isa 52:14 As many were astonished at you— his appearance was so marred, beyond human semblance, and his form beyond that of the children of mankind—
Isa 52:15 so shall he sprinkle many nations; kings shall shut their mouths because of him; for that which has not been told them they see, and that which they have not heard they understand.

Mary Magdalene knows Him best and those who have seen Him said He is like intense light.

He was probably olive-skinned, possible brown-eyed. Likely had a beard and long hair. Muscular but not large. Not especially handsome or tall.

Since I was a child, every picture I have ever seen of Jesus shows him with long hair and/or a beard and goatee or mustache.. Even in bible story books that I used to read, he was shown with long brown hair. My feeling is that all the ones who have drawn and painted pictures of Jesus must have some sort of basis to found this upon. I'm not debating whether he did or did not have long hair, I am only saying that every picture I've seen of him depicts him with it. :) There must be a reason why people think he had long hair as opposed to short hair or even being bald.. lol..:) I agree with Tintin's description of Jesus, though.

I only think Jesus likely had a beard and long hair because that would've been common practice and convenient in those days. He didn't physically stand out in the crowd, according to the Bible and He had more pressing matters than taking a few hours every few weeks (total) to self-groom. Besides, He was essentially homeless for His ministerial life, so where would He have gone to self-groom or get a haircut?

I actually believe Jesus was Black...partly due to the proliferation of Byzantine icons that depict such in addition to those of the Black Madonna.

Isaiah 53:2 ESV For he grew up before him like a young plant, and like a root out of dry ground; he had no form or majesty that we should look at him, and no beauty that we should desire him.

KJV:
Isaiah 53:2 - For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: he hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see him, [there is] no beauty that we should desire him.

As to the long hair........maybe, maybe not.........as I understand it, the custom for Jewish men at that time was to have their hair no longer than just above their shoulders. With the exceptions of the Nasserites who took a vow not to cut their hair. Jesus was a Nazarene though so don't know if He took that same vow.

As for grooming..........while the Bible doesn't give explicit detail on how Jesus or the Disciples groomed themselves, we shouldn't believe they didn't. It is also not recorded in Scripture where they went to the bathroom, but surely they did. And we know that for the greatest part of His ministry, there were women traveling with Him and the Disciples, and they could have very well tended to such details as cutting His and the Disciples hair.

He was not Arian.......blond hair, blue eyes....nor was He black......He was born of the lineage of David, a Jew. He was not of great stature, wildly handsome, or from a wealthy/powerful family.........for all of these would have detracted from His Gospel in that these would have given reason to some for believing in Him. That is not what He wanted.

Ok, my thoughts............as we are speculating here anyway........ :)

Long hair on men was shunned during Jesus' time, and apparently He didn't stand out from other Jews at the time.

There's brief description about Him in the Bible, but it never gives full detail like what His skin tone was. It just states that He wasn't attractive to where people would lust after Him and that there was nothing different in His appearance along with other rabbis. My best guess since it's a bit of a hot climate was that He had some skin tone (probably olive) with dark hair. But in the end, it really doesn't matter. Hopefully this doesn't turn into one of those debates that have been discussed in the past.

I meant 'long hair' in relation to Jesus being a dude and in comparison to most masculine hairstyles nowadays. Otherwise, I completely agree.

I hope it doesn't. I didn't intend to start a debate, and it
really doesn't matter what he looks like, I was just wanted to know what you guys thought.

Physically unimpressive and average. He probably had tan, Middle-Eastern skin, short black hair, and a beard. There would be nothing in his appearance to suggest that He was God in the flesh.
