She is 19 years old, and therefore not a child.

I see no way in which her parents have endangered her. There is no profit to be gained in filing charges against the parents.

All that is needed and requested is a way to prove she is citizen. Surely there ought to be a few methods to achieve this. Outside of a paternity test, I am wondering if she or her parents have any sort of witnesses to her birth, video, etc.

So, would the Statute of Limitations have expired? Just wondering...........and, to me only I suppose, raising a child in such a way that they would find it almost impossible to prove their citizenship, receive the normal Identity stuff all other citizens receive..........DL, SSAN, Birth Certificate, and such would certainly be at the VERY LEAST "child neglect," but I contend it would be Endangerment...............simply because what if she is in dire need of Medical attention? Yes, she could go to an emergency room I suppose.........but that isn't the best option in my opinion.

Anyway, just wondering here.............and the last part of my first comment was tongue in cheek.......

I do not know the statute of limitations for such, and I think it may vary by state. This would not be child neglect. Child neglect would be failing to provide food for your children or other base needs. Citizenship has its perks, but technically you do not need it.

The way I figure instead of looking to prosecute the girl or her parents, it would be more beneficial to simply look for a solution to the problem at hand rather than create a whole new host of problems.

As far as practical solutions I can think of, paternity test, some sort of witness/video/photographs of the birth, and in light of the video by her dad, simply his compliance and aid all seem to be good avenues to explore.

This is a good video. However, this only proves her claims true that she, for the time being, needs help in proving her citizenship.

I am hoping here indeed this man shall help her.
She is blaming her parents for refusing to help. Obviously they are not, and as he says in the video, her siblings have had no trouble in getting the proper documentation. So where does that leave her, other than as a whiny teen in rebellion?

I'm not suggesting prosecuting the girl.........her parents are the ones responsible for this boondoggle, not her......and I agree the best solution would be to find a practical.........and Legal.......way to resolve this issue.

Maybe I'm just overly protective/sensitive to such as this. These parents are not the role model I would hold up on the Art of Child Rearing though.............and given what we are learning about the father.........all this is on Yahoo's Home Page........I'm kinda believing it is very near "neglect/endangerment" or something...........anyway.......

God bless

What is it you have against this woman?

You will note this man has even said another member of the family wants him to sign an affadavit. It would seem to me therefore that indeed her parents have been either unwilling or unable to help until this became a public story. Perhaps if her parents had been willing to help her such a situation would not be so. Nevertheless no man can change the past, so one can only hope that her parents will help her moving forward.

Prosecuting the parents will not solve the girl's problems. It will only create more problems for that whole family. Her problem is only to have her status of citizen recognized. Therefore, there is not a need to create more problems. Simply all that must needs be done is to find a solution to the problem of recognition of her citizenship.

Did you read the description of the father and his anti-Government views? Just wondering.......Mother? Ok, willing to give her a pass.........but the father? Not sure I would..........now, the IRS may take care of all of this IF the comments about him are true..........

I think there is a WHOLE LOT about this entire situation that we do not know yet........so, I will reserve any further opinions until the whole truth is revealed........thanks :)

Yes I have read the description of her mortal dad. His views are his to have.

Aye indeed, it seems there is a lot in this story not told. It seems to me it is hinted that there are some problems intra-family. Such problems cannot be solved in a court. They must needs be solved within the family itself. Again, any prosecution of the family or the girl only adds to the problems and does not solve the real problem here, which is the problem of recognition of the woman's US citizenship.

What is it you have against this woman?
It isn't because she's a woman. It's because she lied. She went viral on a You.Tube video claiming she "can't prove" she's even exists, and her dad's video totally disproves that. I knew that was the case, if on nothing more than sheer instinct. Something like this is impossible in this day and age.

And you're wrong about her parents. They are willing to help her. Her dad helped her two older brothers get all the documents they needed. She refused to ask him for help. Or did you bother to look at his video that I posted? He discounts everything she says. She needs to grow up. She isn't "ready for prime time" in this world.

I did not ask if you were against all women but rather; why this woman in particular?

You say she lies on account of her parents not helping her. Yet it is clear that her dad offered to help her 2 days after her video went viral. Good it is that he does such now indeed. However, as his offer is 2 days after her plea that does not mean he offered to help before. I think it perfectly clear that had they helped her before her video, this would never have been an issue.

Aye, I did watch the man's video and in it he says that he is prepared to sign an affadavit requested by another family member. If he had helped, or offered to help before; why therefore does another member of this family want him to sign an affadavit?

I see no valid reason to doubt this woman. Though it seems obvious her parents only want to help now that this issue is public, I suppose though that it is better late than never. I see no reason to prosecute or cause further problems for the parents nor the daughter. This problem of proving her citizenship is all ready problem enough.

I think it would be awesome to totally drop off of the governments radar...........imagine that..! HAH!

No identity?!?! Must be the Antrichrist. Someone post it on the usual blogs!

And I answered you question, which the rest of your post distorts or ignores.

Wrong. He posted his video two days after hers went viral. He told her before she left home he'd help her. She refused.

He's bending over backwards offering to do whatever she needs to get the documentation she needs, despite the fact she disrespected him, lied on You.Tube, and tried to embarrass him and his wife with this total nonsense. Worse, her grandparents aided and abetted her juvenile behavior.

As for the affidavit, it is simply a statement that she was born at home on such and such a date, and is the exact same kind of documentation her dad offered to her before she left the house. She is rebelling against an admittedly overly restrictive Christian upbringing, but it didn't do her any real harm. This is far too much "reaction" for what she has allegedly "suffered," as she has suffered nothing but a good family who loves her.

I see no valid reason to doubt this woman.
Perhaps it is the jading of experience. I worked for years as an inner-city addictions counselor, and I still work with parole and probation on a contractual basis. I hear more bizarre stories than this all the time. Always I take them with a grain of salt, and I'm right 99% of the time. There is every reason in the world to doubt this woman, because what she claims is impossible in this day and age. I keep saying that, and you keep pretending it isn't true. That seems to be your stumbling block.

Come on Bama...how can you make such a judgment against the parents without knowing the facts or by watching a couple vidoes?

Your accusations are based on testimony that is ex post facto. As I said, the man made his video 2 days after the girl made hers. Show me clear evidence from before the young lady made her public plea.

Right after you show me the evidence that he refused to help her before she left home. roll-eye-smiley.gif
