We have been lied to about Global Warming, but WHY?

I'm a vet too friend. They aren't a protectorate of the USA if they don't want to be and I argue they don't need to be. What is the scope: to protect the UK. With reorganization, their military and spy apparatus are adequate for that already. Though, I will say if they continue making dramatic cuts in military spending then it won't be.

Well your a facts guy...look up the facts in relative military terms and I think you will see my point? The whole of western Europe was in effect a protectorate of the USA in the past...as it relates to the threats from the East.

According to the scientific "experts" this wasn't suppose to happen. They said the Arctic ice would be completely gone in summer months, Islands and sea level cities would be flooded, and snowfall would be a distant memory. Why can't the climate extremists see that they have been duped? IT DIDN'T HAPPEN!!

Well I don't think they really compare in military might and those of us who have served in that arena ...kinda know that they really are a protectorate of the USA...in military terms...

Nobody compares to the US in that regard because, for your size, your military is grotesquely large. America spends more than the next ten countries combined on their military. It's overkill.

The UK, however, rather than train mountains of troops half-arsed, have the best special operations training on the planet, bar none. Ever heard of the SAS? The Royal Marines? I know you Americans don't like to concede anything, but even Americans fighting with Brits tell me the British are the most disciplined fighting force in the world at the minute.

Does MI6 ring a bell? Ever hear a worldwide leak come out of there? What about the CIA? See the massive difference between the US and UK military and intelligence services is that the US have a lot of manpower, while the UK's men and women, being less in number, are actually very well trained, arguably moreso than any other nations forces.

Not trying to insult...our friend just made a point that we Americans should stop spending so much on defense...but my point was that the defense system we set up and maintain was designed to defend England ...as well

Well I think we need each other to be fair - Britain almost always supports US action too. I don't think we should be dissing our allies (generally speaking) when we need each other. I agree with some of what Human says and we may well have the best trained men but there is no doubt the US has the best equipment - now together that is a force to be reckoned with - isn't it? If the US are over equipped then from my point of view that is no bad thing.

I'm not sure that's true, we are part of the EU now, that's another force to be reckoned with but I'm not going to argue about it - I'm not that clued-up on it. For sure Britain alone would not be able to defend herself against certain threats.

Well see their is a system in place that has been there for many years to defend all of western Europe ...the US in large part is responsible for that system...its a very complicated matter...its not a system England can afford to maintain on her own...NATO would be nipo if the USA cut its budget...so its not as easy as folks in England saying you guys need to stop spending on defense and start spending on the global warming fairy tale. In comparison to British troops, relatively few of your soldiers are stationed in the UK, relatively few of your soldiers ''defend England'', and most of the drain on your resources, in military terms, comes from the Middle East, not from soldiers having to defend British soil -- we can do that all on our own.

As for ''the weight of defending England'', I will assume you're not much of a geography buff. England lies thousands of miles from the middle east. There's no ''defending England going on'' outside the intelligence and police services. It's not been about defending England since the second World War. It's about attacking and controlling the Middle East.

Don't blame the UK for the military expenditure of your own country. You guys are the ones who started those wars, not us.

NATO have huge numbers of troops apart from US soldiers. I'd imagine NATO'd do just fine if there were no America involved, going around starting wars it can't afford.

The expense is not in the number of troops in as much as it is in the having the material resources to deter an attack by hostile forces against the west by the east. A thousand guys with guns does not worry the Russians...a thousand guys with top if the line defensive equipment does.

I saw Bill Nye the anti-science guy on the Independents a few months back. I thought it would be good since the hosts aren't big on the scam. Bill was via satellite, and right after the intro, the VERY FIRST thing he does is show a picture of the Hockey Stick graph.

THIS is a scientist?? Doesn't even know enough about global warming to know the Hockey Stick's been discredited. SMH.
