Yes they do make laptops as that is what I bought and HP laptop of course you get home and wish maybe you went one model higher but for the most part it works just fine.

So I'm at McDonald's playland with my kid's, crazy town central, in the center of all the insanity there is what looks to be a 12 year old girl at the top of this play structure belting out the song Let It Go, she jas a beautiful voice. To bad she has a sucky audience except for me of course.

ok so i'm lookin' to buy a laptop..in y'alls opinion, which is the best brand to buy?
*Lynx adjusts his glasses and prepares to once again deliver a complicated answer to what seems to be a simple question...

It's not that simple. Do you want a computer that will last for a long time? One that is cheap? One that is fast and cheap? One that is glossy and pretty to look at?

One guy at work asked that same question you asked so I started asking what he wanted out of a computer. He actually decided an Acer from Wal-Mart was what he wanted, specifically BECAUSE it was cheap and would probably break down in a year and a half. "Great! Then I'll get a new one for cheap and when it breaks down I'll get a new one, and I'll always have a modern computer... and have kind of a rolling upgrade system for not a lot of money."

If you want a reliable computer that will run forever, and eventually you'll get rid of it just because it won't run the latest programs anymore... get a used Thinkpad from Ebay. T400 will do nicely. Look for one that has 4 gigs ram and it'll run what you want for the next few years. And a Thinkpad will be around and working fine a few years from now. Every Thinkpad I've ever gotten is still running.

Or just click this link where I've already applied all the parameters you need to look for and what you want is all in one list.
PC Laptops and Netbooks in Memory:4 GB or more, Operating System:Windows 7, Product Line:ThinkPad | eBay
Ignore the T61s and X61s. Sort by cheapest first and look at the first T400 or T500.

If you want something slick and glossy go to Wal-Mart and get an Acer or HP. It might last seven years, might last a year and a half, but it'll look good while it lasts.

And some might ask, if every thinkpad I ever bought is still running, why do I keep having to buy more used thinkpads? Because time and operating systems keep marching on, and even the best computer eventually just can't run the latest programs. At that point I load the old computer up with games and give it to a kid at church.

It's about time to jettison this computer I'm on now, as a matter of fact. It's starting to freeze when I go to CC chat. Not because the computer is getting slower (it's not) but because flash demands more processor and RAM than it used to.

A public service announcement for one and all: Have you sneezed in the last hour?

Will you yawn in the next hour?

Bet you will...

So, I said on here that I found my wedding dress for $40. On accident.

I also accidentally found my perfect engagement ring. No really, it's both perfect (it's under my budget) and I really did find it on accident.

Though, I have decided if I'm not married by 30, I'm going to buy it for myself anyway.

In another related note, I'm struggling tonight.

I go back and forth in my contentment in singleness. Sometimes I'm very okay with it, when I'm being lazy at home, or when I know that I'm safe with my secrets/flaws because they are mine and not anyone else's burden.

And then sometimes I just think..."I don't get it, God. I don't."

Sigh. I think I will go play guitar for a while.

And now I'm going to regret saying this, but honestly, it's a dude's job to buy the dang engagment ring. As in, he should want to do it and make it a priority. Cue angry flames in 3, 2, 1...

Just... don't demand it cost 3 months salary and go into gross vs net etc, which it sounds like you aren't going to do, so good for you! Not treating a guy like he's an ATM is a really good sign for your future.

Seriously though, don't buy your own engagement ring. Where's the fun in that?

What.... no....

Rings are so confusing to us guys. It doesn't matter if you put it on the right hand or the left, we think it means you're taken.

I second ServantStrike.

rachelsedge and melita916 please dont buy yourselves an engagement ring. Firstly, it's a man's job. And secondly, it will confuse the living daylights out of us as to whether you are taken or not. We never get the significance of left or right hand, middle or ring finger. Seriously. Don't do that.
