All stores do it all the time. It's called a "hook." A way to get customers into the store in hopes that since they are already there, they will spend money anyway...........even though what they came for was out of stock.

I usually find a Manager and "insist" upon a "rain check." Meaning that after the "sale" is over, and they restock what they knowingly advertised was "short stocked," they have to give it to me at the "sale price."

Some refuse to...........I don't go back.
