I apologize if that is what you took from my reply. I was responding to this part of your comment " "Nothing alone" will save us". It is our belief, faith as it is used here, that leads us to obey his commands. If we are not obeying his commands, do we really believe in him, or are we just saying that we believe in him. So how are we saved? I personally believe (when I mesh all the scriptures relating to salvation together) that it is simply "By grace through faith". I'm sure that others come to a different conclusion. Who is wrong? I'll leave that to others to decide.
Again. I apologize for not being clearer.

Mark 16:16 (KJV)
He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.
I read it, without belief, there is no need to be baptized (and why infants should not be baptized) and like a infant that gets baptized without belief, they just get wet...
belief alone will not save you, no matter how hard you try you cannot get rid of that conjunctive "and" in the verse... (difficulty level zero)
"Nothing alone" will save you.
as much as i enjoyed being baptized in H[SUB]2[/SUB]O, and as well as it is that we should do this,
i can't pretend that the book doesn't also say things like this:
And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness,
even so must the Son of man be lifted up:
That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.
(John 3:14-15)
and this:
if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord
and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
(Romans 10:9)
and never says anywhere anything about "the one who is not baptized ... "
but about the one who does not put their trust in Him.
Only Jah saves. there is no other way but through His Son. no amount of works and no amount of water can accomplish this. "salvation is found in no one else"
does that mean one should not be immersed in H[SUB]2[/SUB]O publicly, as a testament of your good conscious toward God? of course not.
but my faith is not in a shadow; it is in the substance.
Your notion that infants have no sin is unbiblical and therefore false. It stems from your thinking that there is no original sin. We have discussed this elsewhere and you have not been able to refute clear scriptures that have all of mankind, regardless of age, as sinners (Rom.3). Which means that infants are in need of baptism just as much adults. The issue of this thread is infant baptism and since infants have no sins to be remitted they are not candidates for water baptism.
Your assertion that infants are incapable of believing is also unbiblical and therefore false. When John the baptist was yet even in his mother's womb, he leaped of joy at the greeting of Mary (Luke 1:41). That means he understood what was happening and had faith in God already at that point.Yes, baptism is part of believing. One's belief is dead until he is baptized...
Since infants are not capable of believing therefore cannot baptism.

Having sin is never an issue of age or of mental or intellectual capacity.

Believing or not believing in God is never an issue of age or of mental or intellectual capacity.
Children of believers are to be baptized since the covenant promises also applies to them (Acts 2:38-39).
Then I guess that Jesus must have lied in John 3:16 and 17.
If the scriptures don't mesh, it is man's interpretation that is wrong.
john was called john the immerser by the Jews. a lot of things the Jews (followers of Yahshua and not) and John the immerser believed were intrinsically and basically and crucially very different
from the much later
baptist denomination, if that's what you're referring to.

I would say the error of infant baptism came about because of another error known as 'original sin', neither of which the apostles taught yet Catholics and some non-Catholics believe in anyway. The purpose of baptism is 'for the remission of sins" Acts 2:38 yet infants have no sins to be remitted. Jesus, speaking of children, said "for such are the kingdom of heaven" Mt 19. The kingdom of heaven is not made up of lost, unforgiven reprobates. Also in Mk 16:16 Jesus made belief a prerequisite to baptism. Infants have not developed the intellectual ability to hear and believe as the bible requires, infants have no language skills to understand gospel words being spoken.
It is sometimes argued in Acts 16:30-33 infants were baptized. It is "assumed" infants were in the house. It is also said the word of the Lord was spoke to all that were in the jailer's house, v32. Again, infants have no language skills or the cognitive development necessary to understand the words being spoken. Anyone, infant or adult, that does not believe, does not understand the gospel words are NOT candidates for baptism. Those so called "church fathers" contradicted the bible, and each other, on various issues.
I choose the Spirit, the water and the blood:I CHOOSE THE BLOOD OF JESUS CHRIST, OUR LORD AND SAVIOUR!
Matthew 3:5-17 “Then went out to him Jerusalem, and all Judea, and all the region round about Jordan, And were baptized of him in Jordan, confessing their sins. But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees come to his baptism, he said unto them, “O generation of vipers, who hath warned you to flee from the wrath to come? Bring forth therefore fruits meet for repentance: And think not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham to our father: for I say unto you, that God is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham. And now also the axe is laid unto the root of the trees: therefore every tree which bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance; but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear; he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire;” Whose fan is in his hand, and he will thoroughly purge his floor, and gather his wheat into the garner; but he will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire. Then cometh Jesus from Galilee to Jordan unto John, to be baptized of him. But John forbade him, saying I have need to be baptized of thee, and comest thou to me? And Jesus answering said unto him, Suffer it to be so now; for thus it becometh us to fulfill all righteousness. Then he suffered him. And Jesus when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water; and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him; And lo, a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.
37) And the Father himself, which hath sent me, hath borne witness of me. Ye have neither heard his voice at any time, nor seen his shape. 38) And ye have not his word abiding in you: for whom he hath sent, him ye believe not. 39) Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life and they are they which testify of me. 40) And ye will not come to me, that ye might have life.
John 11:25)Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life; he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live; 26)And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die, Believeth thou this?
Acts 15:8)And God, which knoweth the hearts, bare them witness, giving them the Holy Ghost, even as he did unto us; 9)And put no difference between us and them, purifying their hearts by faith.
11)But we believe that through the grace of the lord Jesus Christ we shall be saved, even as they.
Romans 3:20)Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin. 21)But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets; 22)Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference.
2. Hebrews 9:22 “Without the shedding of blood, there is
no remission of sins.”
3. 1 John 1:7″… the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth
us from all sin.”
4. Revelation 1:5 “… Unto him that loved us, and washed us
from our sins in his own blood.”
. Hebrews 9:14 “How much more shall the blood of Christ, who
through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God,
purge your conscience …
8. Hebrews 10:19, 22 “Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter
into the holiest by the blood of Jesus … Let us draw near with a true
heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an
evil conscience …”
9. Hebrews 13:12 “Wherefore Jesus also, that he might sanctify
the people with his own blood, suffered without the gate.”
10. Romans 3:24-25 “Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;”
11. Romans 5:9 “Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.”

Before Moses ever lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, all of the Israelites partook of the Passover lamb (a "type" of the crucified Christ), they all passed through the Red Sea (a "type" of water baptism) and they were all led by a cloud by day and a pillar of fire by night (a "type" of being baptized by the Holy Ghost and fire). Again, there are three which agree on this earth:as much as i enjoyed being baptized in H[SUB]2[/SUB]O, and as well as it is that we should do this,
i can't pretend that the book doesn't also say things like this:
