Ever wonder why words like Through and Though are similarly spelt with different pronunciations?
 
Or why the plural of mouse is mice but house is houses? And don't get me started on why it's deer but not deers, and many a goose is geese but many a moose isn't meese?

Whenever I was in elementary school, there was this little rascal from the most backwoods spot on earth struggling with pretty much everything, and I can still recollect ms. McKenzie repeating, over and over again...you spell it out "through" not "true", followed by a looooong sigh...every time;)

why Arkansas and Kansas.........are pronounced two different ways?
 
why the word "kernel" is spelled with an R, yet the word "colonel" isn't, yet it sounds the same as kernel..lol
 
Eh...being a Canadian eh I often wondered how Americans slid down a hill on a toboggan.
