my rant about time

Ok peeps, I cannot tell you how many times I have heard another Christian say, "I don't have time to love." WHAT SORT OF POPPYCOCK IS THAT? That's a load of poop and we all know it! If I were to look at your day and break it down by the hour I would bet $100 that you would have SOME free time! Besides you can make time for God! Why not make time for his people? Or his creation? The second commandment is "Love thy neighbor." if you TRULEY DO NOT HAVE TIME THEN MAKE TIME!!!

This rant is not directed to anyone on here. I just needed to blow off some steam. Thanks for reading.

I agree. God is Love, Love is a candle in the darkness, and a candle loses nothing in lighting another candle, but gains more light. We lose nothing by loving others, but we gain a LOT! Maybe people are just looking at it from the wrong angle.....instead of looking at any effort involved in sharing our Love with others, they should look at the good it does for themselves by showing others our Love?
I dunno but that drives me batty too!

Kudos on the word poppycock. I don't hear many people use it. But I agree. It's the same people that bash those who don't go to church on Sundays yet they go out to lunch after and give the waitress a hard time. She's having to work on a Sunday because of people like them. That's why actions always speak louder than words.
 
busiest time ever, day before my dads 70th birthday. I'm at the airport picking up great aunt "M" I receive a text that a friend is in the direst of needs and needs to be moved immediately. I had food to prep for a gathering of over 100 I had aunt mabel. I went anyway. How awesome is the spiritual blessing when you respond to Christs call to love in the most inconvenient moment. We moved her & kept her safe. She received the Lord 2 months later. So cool!
 
This world is selfish. We, as Christians, need to remember not to follow the world. We need to practice selflessness. It really doesn't take much time to share love. Every morning when I get to work, I make time to stop and talk to each of my coworkers. I show concern and love for them. Most conversations take less than 5 minutes, but they know I truely care. Even though I am separated from my husband, I still take the time to do things for his parents.
The other day my family was going into a department store when my daughter saw an elderly gentleman in a wheelchair unloading his cart into his car. She ran across the street and offered to help him. She unloaded his bags and then returned the wheelchair for him. I am so proud a 14 year old took the time to show a stranger love and kindness.
If you are living your life for the Lord, it is impossible not to have time for love, isn't it?

Your rant about God being love and Christians not having love tied in with the sermon at Church today and I want my heart to be soft and to hear when and how God wants me to show his love to those around me. I think the comment I don't have time is sometimes an excuse and in part it is about the cost of showing love which is often about making oneself vonurable. You become vonurable when you either give or receive help. That vonurability is also connected with the fear of rejection.
 

I don't think "love" is something a Christian makes time for, but love is more of a permanent inherit part of your character... Love should be expressed in everything you do and demonstrated towards everyone you encounter. But admittedly, setting aside 5 minutes next Tuesday afternoon to have a loving attitude is easier. :)

Like all that you say above, and it is True, However, not to offend you or anything, but i would like to point something out to you. You said

You say that because it is the second commandment, that it is really important. Because it is the second commandment is actually irrelevant, not important. What IS important, is that Jesus Plainly teaches us Christians.

John 13:34 A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.

John 15:12 This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you.

John 15:17 These things I command you, that ye love one another

What Jesus told us is WAY more important than what Jesus told the Israelites to follow and obey. Jesus Plainly tells us Christians to LOVE ONE ANOTHER.
My point is saying that we should love our neighbor because it is the second commandment, is not near as important what Jesus Himself commands us to do, and that is to LOVE ONE ANOTHER.
Do i love my neighbor because one of the laws the Israelites were commanded to obey or do i love my neighbor because Jesus Christ commanded me too.
me personally, i love my neighbor, NOT because it is one of the ten commandments given to the Israelites under the old covenant. i love my neighbor, because Jesus Christ who teaches the New Covenant Commands that we do so, LOVE ONE ANOTHER.

I like to think like this; (and I think others should think about it too).

If you don't make time for God, why should He make time for you?
 
Jesus is God of the new and the old. I find it odd to discount the command of the old which is in line with the new in an effort to distance yourself from the God of Abraham who is I am who is our Lord Jesus Christ. He is eternal and unchanged from old to new. It's like folks are trying to make God of the new separate from God of the old. His grace is immeasurable exceedingly abundant... thankfully :)

Love is not something that requires time. It is something that goes with you or it doesn't. If you are loving as God says we should be then you are loving 24/7/365/e. When someone tells you they don't have time to love, inform them that it's your heart that loves, not your clock.

God has 'time' for you, regardless (Isaiah 65: 1-2),
But He'll judge who failed to love his neighbour (Matthew 25:41).


btw: since time is part of creation, God is above time.
 
Ok new question: how hard is it to love? Some Christians act like it's the hardest thing in the world when really love may be just talking to that lonely person at work or school.
 
Again, love is something you are, not something you do. The only time being loving is hard is when your heart is in the same condition.
 
I'm not so sure about too tired, but run out yes I have known people like that. Los Angeles is FULL of them. That's why I'm leaving.
