In the music world, you can be the best piano player, guitar.... etc player in the world, but if you are a terrible "hang," i.e; uncomfortable, awkward, annoying, arrogant, selfish, smelly....you are not gonna get gigs....at least not for long. Even though you are there to play music, it accounts for only a fraction of the time that you are just "with" people, hanging out. Nobody wants to hang out with someone who is constantly thinking about their own interpretations or desires in life. It's about a give and take. Close bonds are made by time and SHARED experiences.


In my view....so it is with friendships within the body of Christ. God created us for relationship with Him and with each other. We are created to have an abundant life...which in my view....abundance means being connected with people in shared interests, activities, conversation etc. If a person spends their entire time quoting scripture and trying to prove some lofty spiritual concept or how spiritual they are....they are soon gonna find themselves by themselves and that is really sad.

God is concerned with how well we love, how well we "hang" with the people in our circle. Not with how high of score we get in proving our spiritual points.

'scuse me, but if I could derail this thread and go back to the op... (first time I've derailed one by going back on subject)

Your first paragraph I did not agree with at all. Your assertion that "but if you are a terrible "hang," i.e; uncomfortable, awkward, annoying, arrogant, selfish, smelly....you are not gonna get gigs....at least not for long" has a simple two word rebuttal (altho much much more is available): Rolling Stones. But, that's the world for ya. The more arrogant, selfish, et al you are the more the fans just love you.

The second paragraph I'm with you all the way. We in the Body must and do share a relationship that goes beyond just quoting scripture and pounding each other over the head with it. I think we find a little higher concentration of a bashing relationship here just due to the type of forum this is. But for sure we need to seek out and be aware of times when scripture warring just isn't worth the dissention in the body.

As for my special talent... I can turn traffic lights red 10 seconds before I get to them.

And to the rest of it... well, I hope you took the time to go potty and brush your kitty's teeth!

Haha! Great post...but if I could just say....there are always exceptions to the rule.

For example, given that lady bugs are not bugs at all but are actually beetles that are closely related to dung beetles....the blue lady beetle is still quite fun to have around.
